Today I experimented a rare occurrence of being kept up by all my senses:
Vision: The light out was too bright and kept me up. I usually need darkness to sleep, but the bedroom only has curtains, not blinds.
Hearing: Seamus's mom is watching something. As usualy when she is watching something, I can hear it in my room as loud as if I was the one listening to it. I wish she used headphones.
Touch: It's way too cold once Seamus gets up to go to work. Even though he always gives me his blanket. Way too cold.
Smell: I'm not sure if allergies count here? They're due to breathing in stuff through my nose, so... Allergies keeping me up, because I keep blowing my nose and sneezing. On top of that though, Seamus's mom then started smoking and the smell kept me up too. So I've got this one covered either way.
Taste: Not sure if being thirsty really counts as taste, but I don't care, I'm putting it there! Too thirsty to go back too sleep.
And here you go. Each of them would have been enough to keep me up, and yet they were all present. I gave up and got out of bed. Sometimes they just don't want you to sleep.
Does anybody know if there's an easy way to type accented characters on Linux with a U.S. keyboard? The Alt+0233 trick doesn't work, nor did any of the other suggestions in this thread so far. I know how I could get an accented character if I really really wanted to, just wondering if there is an easy way to do it.
Does anybody know if there's an easy way to type accented characters on Linux with a U.S. keyboard?
My keyboard mapping is "United States-International", and I get an accented e by typing ' (single quote) and then e. I'm forever getting accented characters when I don't want them. That's Windows though, not Linux.
Have you tried getting one of those travel things you put over your eyes? I forget what they're called, but they can really help with light.
Yeah, I typically can't sleep if I'm wearing one either. I'm way too sensitive (I can't sleep if I'm wearing clothes either for instance, unless I'm reaaally tired, or in a moving vehicle. No clue how that works).
Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm more viable than putting things in my ears to block sounds (I get very bad ear infections if I put anything in there).
Goddam copyright...
As you may remember, I had to re-install my OS a while back. Today I finally decided to have a go at re-synching my itunes library. As expected, it was all gone. I logged in (it told me this was my second authorised computer, which was to be expected) to redownload my stuff, only to find everything completely blank. It turns out they only let you download it once. (at least thats what their site says). I've sent an e-mail to them asking them to re-enable my purchases, or I may have to resort to piracy. Arrr.
Having an automatically updated online backup of my files really does make me feel a lot better.
I do also use Dropbox, but only to keep my ebook library synced between computers and accessible from my Kindle browser. I only have a free account at Dropbox and I have too many music files for the maximum free 8GB limit.
Yeah, I saw no reason to backup my files at the time. My computer was running fine, all my documents were on a USB drive, and i was under the impression that iTunes , like steam, would let you download a title lots of times so long as you used your account. It looks like I'll be synching the extra music to my 3DS until this situation is resolved. (As syncing it to my iPod will remove the stuff that's on there already.)
I went over to my best friends house to celebrate his birthday. (Though it was actually a couple of days before his birthday due to timetabling issues! XD)
You know, its was very nice to get away from home and uni for a few days, and have some genuine fun!
Played loads, joked around pretty much all the time, had a real good time.
(Highlights: Playing X-Men Arcade ("Welcome... to DIE!!"), trying to stop me from falling asleep, Ozzying everyone (Ozzying: wearing a Ozzy Osbourne mask and sneaking up to someone's who's sleeping, and shouting "ALL ABOARD!!" The look of pure terror on my other friend's face was priceless!!), and trying to wake my buddy up (who is almost impossible to wake. Only after Creep-achu (a Pikachu with his eyes repainted to look incredibly creepy), Drumstick poking, Turtle-doll rape (a large turtle teddy dressed up as donatello) and quilt stealing did he actually get up!)
I just don't get that sort of thing enough these days. I don't know anyone around town or at uni who are just like me. Heck, even my uni friends normally admit to having no clue about anything I ever say.
I gave my buddy my extra snes and carts as a suprise birthday gift.
When I first arrived there, I gave him a "I Jesus" hat, (he's a christian) and some shot glasses that I got when I was on holiday which we had a real laugh with, but I set up and used my Snes and Megadrive as normal, but when I was packing away the day after, I quickly sorted out what I was going to give him from what I brought, then once I got his attention, I said "Happy Birthday!!" then gestured towards the Snes and the carts.
He was really confused, and said something like "thats your snes", then I explained that I had a extra snes and some carts (two of those being Super Mario Kart, and Super Mario allstars (I had duplicates), and that I was giving him my extra as a gift. He was well chuffed about it, and immediately went to his room to make some space (he's very messy! XD) for it.
I'm actually suprised he didn't catch on earlier, since I did drop quite a few hints, and almost slipped up a few times throughout my stay.
It was the least I could do really, he's been really great to me over these years.
I mean, he gave me his starter guitar kit, a xbox 360 he repaired, took me to see Spamalot in London, and we've been to the cinema quite a bit as well.
He's a very generous guy, and he's been very supportive to me personally as we were growing up, so I thought I'd give him something really good from the heart, you know.
What does IMAO mean? I know IMO (In my opinion) and IMHO (In my honest opinion), but I can't think for the life of me what the 'a' could stand for.
IMHO can also mean "in my humble opinion" rather than honest, and IMAO is meant as the opposite ("in my arrogant opinion"). You sometimes also see IMNSHO ("In my not so humble opinion")
Ah! Thank you! I wonder where I got 'honest' from then. I always thought it strange since I fail to see how an opinion can be either honest or dishonest. I guess you could lie about your opinion, but what would be the point.
Jurassic Park the Game is coming out soon. I play video games and watch movies like this to take my mind out of reality and forget about my responsibiltities, such as classwork.
While watching the movie, I had to take notes and respond to a list of questions that made me question the nature and intent of the film.
I don't know whether to have a mental breakdown or scream at the top of my lungs.

... maybe im dumb, which i may be, but i still don't see the irony.

Then it should be a fairly straightforward contest.
I did say that it worked, not that it was also fair.
This is true. You seem to have got me there. Luthor Baltar 2012 it is, then.

They're called sleeping masks. I like this one:

I guess it does make me
Eh? What's wrong with it?
EDIT: Looks like someone was just creating an Insider forum. The original discussion forum is still there too.
Does this mean were going to get some news on it?

Coincidence or irony?
Why irony?

Hope so! I know as much as you do.
Oh so im stupid is that what your trying to say:p
According to the urban dictionary, the "A" stands for "Arrogant".
IMHO can also mean "in my humble opinion" rather than honest, and IMAO is meant as the opposite ("in my arrogant opinion"). You sometimes also see IMNSHO ("In my not so humble opinion")
I've never seen that one before, but if I ever do, now I won't need to ask what it means! :P
You think these are bad? Take a look at this list. Some are pretty bad (TOCOTOX? Really?)

I'll take a stab.
Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off s
Nicely done! What did you win - bar tab?
ROTFLMAOSTC:
I think I like yours better though.
Oh man, my group of friends are the TWO WEEK CHAMPIONS at the Quizzo we go to. I challenge you, sir!
Also: I've decided that I'm apparently cursed in that every new game I've highly anticipated recently has dropped the proverbial ball.
Not quite so...graphic.
Scaring the cats.
GAH! NINJA'D!
I don't know why, but for some reason, I always read that one as "Stuff you!"
Means roughly the same thing and I guess it's shorter.
STFU. Problem?
I think there might be, yes.
...there just might be...
