lol, are you referencing anything in specific with that part?
    Holy Frak! It's true!

Everyone on this forum...except for Guru, is actually Pants! So much makes sense now!

    Holy ****, I'm Pants?!

Oh. Damn. Why can I only disprove the points for which I argue? Note to self: convince Dashing that gun control is a good idea.

Arguing with yourself is the best way of getting a decent debate where you always win!

    Weetos! Weetos! We are one!
Oh so crunchy! oh so sweet!
Eating them is a REAL treat!

To eat, or not to eat? that is not the question!
It is whether or not to eat a bowl of weetos!
If the answer is anything other than "yes", one should cease all action, and remove themselves from the facility.
    By force if necessary.

Look, milquetoast non-cussing defective personality #231.3555823. If you're going to make errors then the hivemind has to overcorrect. It's not my fault. Well, I lie. It technically is.

Its for my Arcade machine of course!
(I've mentioned it almost every opportunity I've had! Can't help but be hopelessly smug about having one!)

Its a MAME conversion, so it has a PC in there, a I-PAC conversion board and a 19 inch monitor in there (we think it might be a TFT as it looks damn good!).
The original light up marquee still works, and the coinbox has been all rigged up to work (though the side buttons currently add credit anyway)
I think the original speakers have been rigged up there as well.

    Its pretty incomplete though.

The joysticks are very odd on it, they have cube-like tops to them, and one its incredibly stiff.
I'm just going to replace them with cheap, (but appearently still good) american style baton sticks. (Its should be a very easy switch, since the original maker thought ahead and make the control board easy to open up and modify)
and the player start buttons are simply out of color scheme blue buttons.
Bought some nice white player 1 and 2 buttons (so the ones with man silhouettes on them).

Eventually I want to give the back and sides a fresh lick of paint.
But the front needs A LOT of work.
The screen needs to be moved a bit, and the cardboard silver cut-out thing is obviously temporary, since it doesn't even line up to the screen.
The screen itseld needs to either be sprayed black, or re-taped, and you can easily see the tape not done properly in the corners.
The wooden control panel needs to be redone.
I really want to re-shape it to fit the cabinets shape more.
And get a proper perplex cover on there, with a custom control panel overlay designed to match the color scheme, and match the style from the games of the late 80s - early 90s.
Good chance to reposition (and maybe replace depending on the design of the overlay) the buttons, as they currently don't suit fighters at all (spread out considerably. Will copy fighting sticks more fluid placement).

THe interface was pretty bare bones as well.
The Mame set up was done, but the theme was poorly done.
Since them I added several other emulators, most with custom themes I created from a nice looking, but incomplete set I found on the net.
Also added menu music, a jukebox, and some idle videos to act as a sort of attract.

    Its bloody lovely.
Even my generally non-gaming family have been regularily jumping on for a few quick goes.

I wanted to get one for a while you see, but what really pushed me over the edge was a recent trip to Southend.

The arcades there were so bare, and samey.
It was all SEGA and NAMCO cabinets, mostly racing stuff.
and the claw-grabbers were just impossible now.
(Giant prizes vs tiny claws that just twitch is just plain cruel!)

EDIT: I eventually want to get Sanwa sticks in there.
Will keep some of the American style buttons on the side for sure, since that suits pinball.
But the 6 main buttons I'm tempted to switch with flat buttons.
But I'm fine with the buttons as they are, but they are just placed a it too far apart for comfort.

Everyone, I know I haven't posted much lately, but I wanted to let you know that Monday through Tuesday I'll be in various airports getting from California to France, and then Wednesday and maybe Thursday I'll be dealing with getting a bank card, getting mail redirected to my new address, taking trains to get to my new address and so on.

So while I might spend a lot of time online during my airport time (provided they have wifi, which I expect they will), I might not be on for the rest of the week after that. I'll let you know how things go.

Ooh, some images would be nice. MAME cabs are awesome...too bad they're mostly used around here to replace actual arcade cabs, not to mention that about 90% of the time it's to play those fucking horrible KoF 2K2 hacks that I just wish would burn in fucking hell and completely disappear from existence. Yes I hate them that much.

The worst part? They never bother to update them (or mantain them either...), the only cab I ever found with anything after CPS2 had horrible sticks (no up for p1 which made choosing games with it impossible) and buttons, AND HALF OF THE FUCKING P1 BUTTONS WERE ON THE P2 SIDE AND VICE VERSA >____<

Oh, I noticed, and then I cringed, thinking, c'mon, Alcoremortis, GO STUDY! This board is just silly talk, but transcripts are forever! Well, until you get your first real job, anyway, and then no one cares about them anymore after that.

Where was I? Oh yes, don't worry, take a break, both of you, and we'll still be here when you get back!

    (Maybe.)

Tomorrow is fee comic book day. As far as I know, my local (If you can call it that) comic book store limits you to three free comics, which you are not supposed to do

    Freecomicbookday.com

I'm thinking of going for Darkwing Duck, Inspector Gadget, and The Tick. Alsthough chances are they'll be out of The Tick again. The Tick rules.
