Well, I'm off to have a nice excruciatingly slow day at work. For those who don't know, today is Canada's version of Black Friday(sorry other international friends, I don't have a comparison). It is going to be dead at my job. Here's to 8 hours of killing time, making double time and a half.

This. I wonder how many American file hosting and webdomain companies will be losing money if SOPA passes...

I couldn't help it! There was a thread about Rock and Rule! And a thread about Skyrim! Not even I can sulk through that. At least not after a few drinks anyway.

There might even be an update to the Monkey Island pony thead in the near future...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Oh well, I guess I survived the last giant hiatus well enough, I'll just have to make more ponies to pass the time. Maybe I should make some G4 Monkey Island ponies...

heh. I do that all the time.

I always remember struggling with M.Bison on World Tour Mode of Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the PS1.

Still never beat Shin Akuma at the end though.
I mean you had to fight 4 Akuma's with full health at the same time, then fight an impossibly hard Shin Akuma.
(Who could destroy you in seconds!)

I don't know why people are complaining about the 3DS having DLC.

If anything, its EXACTLY what the console needs.

I'm certain that nintendo wouldn't half-ass it either.
    (They said before they wouldn't!)

I don't think Nintendo half-ass any of their games, (most of the flaws can be traced back to the conception, not the execution) and having some small teams working on extra content would likley produce some good stuff.

I should imagine it will be more like Borderlands or Fallout DLC, you know, like mini expansions.

I'd definately pay like £4.50 for say 30 new levels of Super Mario 3D land, or 8 new tracks on Mario Kart 7.

I think it would at the least be interesting to see the company revisit older titles and add new stuff to them.

Besides, I don't think it will impact the quality of the actual retail product itself, first party wise.

In fact, it will be interesting for us gamers to see which devs and publishers jump on the DLC wagon.

If stuff like Tapfish comes out, causing children to spend thousands and thousands on keeping fish alive, and therefore causes a ruckus with the press, you know Nintendo will likely put pressure on those companies, as unlike Apple, they are a Japanese company, and reputation is important.
Maybe not as much as it used to be, but that cultural factor still lingers.

I mean, when Nintendo reduced the price of the 3DS, they were very vocal about it, and us early adopters have got a bucket load of stuff to keep us sweet.

Sony gave people 2 free games on PSN, and 30 days of Playstation+ for the hacking, though that wasn't their fault at all.
(Sure they were stupid for not securing their stuff, but in the end of the day, those people were trying to steal account data; and thats just wrong on so many levels...)

In fact, its likely that that sort of thing wouldn't have gone through in the first place.

Useless and crap games is one thing, (children might actually like some of the stupid shovelware) blatant manipulation of children is another thing entirely, and that casual entry level market is very important to Nintendo. (It always has been. You think their games are cutesy by accident?)

EDIT: I mean the first game thats getting DLC is Fire Emblem for crying out loud!
    Thats just awesome.

Aye Aye! Fantastic game Star Fox 64.

Probably one of the most "perfect" games ever created.

(Like Super Mario World, or The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past)

"People will only practice 2 religions. Catholicism, and Christianity."

Damn, I might have been born Protestant in a country with a long history of sectarian violence, but even I consider Catholicism to be part of the Christian faith. That's pretty hardcore.

ETA: Just noticed this gem as well:

"Anything that has to do with homosexuality is prohibited or maintained."

    Well, which is it?

Also, some of the stuff there seemed...oddly specific. Like the fact that all choir and band rooms had to have a mirror. WTF?

    Okaaay...

Arkham City is just going to BARELY run on my lappy.
(Well at 30 fps at least)

Found a computer running it with lower PC specs than mine on Youtube.
I'll just copy those settings and I should be good to go! :D

Sillyness aside. I am curious as to why most women, at least in the UK, and at least at my Uni in particular, seem to expect the man to make the first move as it were.

Here's an actual conversation with a (platonic) female friend, who was annoyed that the guy she liked wasn't trying to ask her out. This was about 15 years ago in the U.S., so about a half generation removed, and keep in mind different cultures have different dating rules.

Me: If you really want to go out with him, you should try asking him out. Some guys just need to be asked.

Her: Who started your relationship with your girlfriend?

Me: In my case, I asked her out.

Her: Then I want him to ask me out!

Who knows if this is happening with you? If you wait for her to ask, you'll never find out.

I don't even know why you would NEED a mirror for band or choir in the first place. I've been in both and I never had a mirror and never felt the slightest need for a mirror. Dance, sure. Martial arts, sure. But singing? I can't really fathom what it could possibly be used for except maybe choreography.

Band: Have you ever seen American Pie?

Choir: I don't even want to know...

Guys are supposed to ask the woman out. It's cultural evolution. Aggressive men date more for a reason.

I've asked guys out before and the only time it's turned out well was when I asked one of my closest friends to go to semi-formal with me. The rest of the time it was horribly awkward because the guys involved either already had a girlfriend, didn't want to go with me, or accepted and then assumed that I was had a desperate crush on them when all I really wanted was a warm body to take to a dance so I wouldn't be there all alone. The last one was the worst, I think and it's due to how society portrays women who ask men out.

If a guy asks a girl out, it's assumed that he thinks she's okay to hang out with and the initial date means that he would like to know her better. If a girl asks a guy out, it seems like she really really likes him and things are about to get very serious very quickly. That's the impression I've gotten from my personal experiences.

Asking my friend worked out because we were already friends, not really romantic and we talked about computers and made fun of the music when we weren't dancing a Viennese waltz to techno.

This is not to say that a guy asking a girl can't be awkward, but I've found those to be far less so for me, as I already knew that it was more casual and I should just be my normal charming self without being too pushy.
