BATS is a trading venue, like the New York Stock Exchange. Today was their IPO (initial public offering), which is where a company's shares are first listed on an exchange for the public to trade. A company obviously wants their IPO to be popular and have lots of people buying their shares.
BATS only listed their shares on their own exchange. They had technical issues today that halted trading in Apple, and then halted their OWN stock launch (only a single transaction was made before that happened). Incredibly bad, not only because it's a screwup EXACTLY when they want people to have confidence in their company and buy shares, but also because their system failure meant no one could trade the stock anyway.
They've now decided to renege on the whole going public idea, which is a really big deal at this stage.
I liked the CNN headline: "BATS: Well, this is awkward". Expect lots of even funnier headlines coming soon out of this one.
It pretty much made my day. When Apple had a circuitbreaker halt I was hoping for another algorithmic debacle, but this turned out to be so much better.
For anyone interested, here's the chart for Apple's share price today. See if you can guess where BATS messed up (hint: it's the massive drop at 11am):
Neither of the memory card adaptors I ordered have arrived yet.
Thats pretty annoying. I don't want to get too far into my games, just incase stuff has to be moved/deleted ect.
Hopefully at least one will arrive on Monday. The suspence is killing me, and I still have to determine whether they are genuine or not.
But at least once that is done, my PSP will be sorted for a long time.

Circle Pad Pro gives you a leftie mode for this game, if you wanna fork over another $20.
I already have it, but it makes it worse!
(Its just a bit too bulky. Makes my hand cramp up)
EDIT: Nintendo probably won't patch in proper Circle Pad Pro support, but I sure wish they would!
Absolutely loving the game though!
It kind of feels like at its early stage of development, it was intended to be a Wii game.
(Think about it. Wiimote controls would be PERFECT for this game)
But you can tell at every single point that this game was made with love.
I personally think its the game the 3DS has deserved since launch, and really shows the potential of the device.
A few gripes and a little hand cramp (and some mild confusion), is definately not going to stop me from trying to master it!
EDIT 2: The confusion is mostly from me playing it in 3D mode on the stand.
Its hard for the eyes to focus on depth at a bit of distance. Especially when some concentration has to go to co-ordinating the right hand to do something a bit unnatural.
(But its adapting a little. Us lefties tend to have a little innate ambidextrous properties, just takes a long time to adapt)
EDIT 3:
Okay. Completely unrelated brain-wave here.
I'm imagining another videogame. This time its an adventure game, where you control the character indirectly via an old television set.
You use the mouse to twiddle the dials, and "change channels" in order to solve puzzles.
The game runs continuously for the most part. Like a TV program. Get stuck on a puzzle or situation for too long, then the game takes a different direction.
(Though the good ending, may not necessarily be the traditional, get everything right one)
Stylistically I think the coolest way to do it would be to make the tv and the hand controlling the dials live action.
The rest could be a mix of animation and live action.
Flash styled modern cartoons (well.. clean 90's cartoons latest I guess), traditional hand-drawn sequences. A mix of TV from different time periods.
(Say go from black and white noir mystery, to 70's funky cop serial for instance.)
So I went looking for the old 3D Maze screensaver that used to be one Windows. I found it and Downloaded it, feeling nostalgic. I just remembered how much that scared the crap out of me as a child for no good reason.

Please don't call me "love".
P.S. You should really learn your homonyms. It could save your life someday.

Don't homonyms hate gay people?
You're thinking of homophobes. Those are not the same thing.

Or if that's not weird enough, Kreacher and the Giant Squid.

Uggh... Shit like this reminds me of why I left this thread in the first place. You know what?
And I'm not coming back this time.

The saga continues...
They wanted me and my mom and she was too embarrassed. Boo.
what about twisted metal, or mass effect 3
Yeah! HAHA!
I never seem to shut up about the PSP, do I?
Well, I can't help it. I've falled back in love with the little guy.
Its not that bad. Afterall, I have Monster Hunter to keep me occupied for a loooong time!
Pfft! They may be game of the year to the masses but I'll take something that's unique, original and touching over endless sequels, thank you.
Have you played any of the 3? If not, you can't judge.
I REALLY want to play Journey, but I have $0 so...
I get it!
I get the "i 8 pi", but I forget what the third sign means.
Its debilitating my ability to play Kid Icarus.
