    "I Toast Therefore I am"

    Lister: Or muffins. Or muffins. We don't like muffins around here. We want no muffins, no toast, no teacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and definitely no smegging flapjacks.
    Toaster: Aah, so you're a waffle man.

    "I think therefore I am."- Rene Descartes

    If having thought can prove existence, then does that mean inanimate objects and stupid people don't exist?

    Descartes walks into a bar. The bartender asks, "Would you like something to drink?"

    Descartes responds, "I think not" and disappears.

    ...Thank you, I'll be here all week.

    I still don't get the MM/DD/YYYY thing. I mean, it doesn't really make any sense. I mean, take DD-MM-YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD. They both go in order of significance.

    It's like, for example, using units, thousands and millions. You don't just switch them around, that would be stupid.

    Or a better example. You either use big-endian or little-endian. Using mixed-endian or "middle-endian" is just plain dumb.

    God, I miss Red Dwarf, but I don't know anywhere that airs it in the US, and it's expensive on DVD.

    Also, GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE! I've taught the toaster to feel love!

    I have always wanted to have a big ass fight on an abandoned road like this at night.

    chinese-bridge-1309545367.jpg

    With a black Ferrari F512M on one side that I used to chase someone but has since been imoblised and on there side a crashed hover race car that has been trashed so all we can do is fight hand to hand on the road.

    Seeing toaster references on Telltale's site reminds me of Max turning into a toaster. Which I'd like an image of, but not enough to make one myself. So I do an image search to see if someone else has posted one I can steal. And what pops up?

    Uh, what was I searching for again?

    The lowlight of this trip was definitely the part where I attempted (admittedly quite inebriated at this point) to take the train home from the city. Ended up in the parking lot of a strange, deserted station at 1:30am, no more trains in or out til 5:00am, very cold, alone, a bit nervous, and still a long way from home. My younger brother came to rescue me... a THREE HOUR round trip for him. Not only did he rock up asap with a huge blanket in the car for me, he didn't even complain ONCE. Champion. I believe there are favours owed.

    'Hugo'

    111122_MOV_HugoStill_EX.jpg.CROP.rectangle3-large.jpg

    A superb film. A modern day classic and a masterpiece of film-making.

    I don't know if I was just especially emotional when I watched it but I cried a couple of times during the viewing. The character arcs were powerful and I've never seen a greater explanation of the intrinsic beauty of film. They really are the creation of dreams.

    Oh and Sacha Baron Cohen was as brilliant as always in his role (even if his voice slipped into that of Ali G at a couple of points).

    So I've been spending most of the past few days reassigning most of the rooms of my flat. The normal layout of the flat consists of a living room, a kitchen/dining room, a bedroom and a bathroom. However recently I've reached a point where I can no longer afford to rent this or any place on my own and so have asked a friend of mine to unofficially move in. In order to make this fair on him I need to make another bedroom and out of the available rooms only the living room was appropriate to change the use of. That in turn meant that I needed to convert my kitchen/dining room into a kitchen/living room with table that can be used to dine on. This afternoon I've got it to the point that I'm happy with, for now anyway. And it's not actually too bad, it kinda has the feeling of a den, with handiness of having a wall dedicated to the kitchen area. I've explained all of this just so I can share a photo of said area:

    Hideo Kojima, in a twitter blog, posted a picture of one of the designers drawing Solid Snake as well as a female character, possibly implying that Solid Snake will reappear in a future game.

    Oooh, a game of spot the DVDs!

    I believe I can see...

    * Star Trek (many different incarnations)
    * Red Dwarf (1-8, The Bodysnatcher Collection + Back to Earth)
    * The Simpsons (seasons 1-13)
    * Lord of the Rings (the trilogy)
    * My Name is Earl
    * Scrubs (2 seasons)
    * Futurama (the feature length collection)
    * Spaced

    Not so sure about these, so I could be way off...

    * Memento
    * Sliders
    * Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

    What score did I get, Corruptbiggins?

    Well there's a surprise. No hold on, it's not surprising at all (in spite of Kojima's claim that every Metal Gear Solid game released is the last one ever).

    Only one mistake - no Scrubs.

    Fun fact, I've still got a VHS copy of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back as well as a DVD copy 'cos the DVD one is a Region 1 version (a signed Region 1 version at that). I used to have a multi-region player but it broke and has since been disposed of. Actually, I don't think this was a 'fun' fact but I'll leave it.

    Also it should be noted that I'm the sort of person who alphabetises things like DVDs.

    I think it's the best way to show a large image without distorting the page format by just jamming one in a thread. Which is also why I use Flickr when uploading photos 'cos they can be viewed in many sizes from their site and it's so easy to upload my photos straight from my phone to there.

    I love like Snake too much to be annoyed by the lies just to sell games...based on that I'm probably the target audience.

    They should just give it a slight rename to something like Metal Gear Beyond. They did it already on the PlayStation when they added the Solid. That way when he says that it's the last Metal Gear Solid game it will be the truth.

    ... only kidding! I didn't mind the little emo bitch that much either. I actually liked the twist Kojima pulled with Metal Gear Solid 2.

    Hope you enjoy it! I've had mostly good experiences with sharing... in fact my latest place is the only one where I've lived by myself, and I daresay I'll be living with others again at some point in the future (whether it's a beau or a brother or whatever).
