I have a list. It's a fairly long list, but this is going to be a bit of a different con than NDK, so there's stuff I won't be bringing.

I always forget something. But then again, I can usually do without most things for short periods of time as long as I have my credit card and my glasses.

The trip officially starts tomorrow. I'll probably chronicle the trip as much as I can. I don't want to forget this. I'm so damn excited I'm losing my mind!

Some guys I follow on Tumblr were talking about the places they used to go to on the internet, and I was reminded of this forum and how terrible I was at making usernames when I was 12 or whatever. Man, looking back at some of the old posts I made is physically painful. Also that first forum game I made is unbelievably awful. How was I ever even the slightest bit maybe popular-ish on this site back in the day??

    so you're 16 now???

i was 17 when i first joined the forum and now im 20. time sure flies by like an angry bee.

edit: THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY LAKES HERE. It's actually creeping me out!

Move my final things into my new loft. This place is a disaster.

Found out which classes I'm leading and meet for my own classes for the first time tomorrow. Really excited.

Saw a broadcast about the gop confrence and got mad when they were interviewing guests who were all talking about how morality and being "pro-family" (whatever that means) were the important issues. Seriously? Deciding someones morality for them is the important issue here? What happened to Republicans?

I realised last night that my generic, bog-standard contraceptive pill would cost almost $1000 a year without health insurance. Wtf is wrong with this country?

The funny thing about the GOP is that if someone with Reagan's exact platform ran for office, the Republicans would denounce him as some kind of pinko lefty.

Also, their claiming to decide what's moral and what isn't makes me physically ill. Why we elect such bigots and retards is absolutely beyond me.
    Hey Tope. How's Voodoo Doughnuts?

Revolution Doughnuts. Or, as owned and franchised by Comrade Pants - GLORIOUS WORKERS' REVOLUTION OF THE DOUGHNUT PROLETARIAT.

    Capitalism.

Seriously, Capitalism run amok is an accurate descriptor. We have turned an economic system into a cult in this country, so that any attempt to modernize or improve upon it is seen as detrimental to large, faceless corporations and by some weird consequence this apparently hurts the common man in their opinion.

    So yeah, Capitalism.

I also speak Chinese, and this is near gibberish. Just so you know.

Something about young tofu, clarity and white, and me being an idiot.

But... but it came from ComradeMortis... It must be correct! She said it was idiom filled, though. So I assume contemporary cultural knowledge is needed to properly divine it.

Also, curse you and your exceptional polyglot-ness. If you don't end up making bank as some kind of universal translator, I will be sorely disappointed.

Yeah, there are a TON of food-related four character idioms. Hence the tofu and white clarity. I can understand those on a literal level, but I'm assuming they're idiomatic insults I don't know.

Also, you don't know what my job is. :)

Fair enough. By the way, my initial Russian-ism was "What, comrade?" Also, Google translate called itself Les Google in your Japanese.

Actually, Google Translate (グーグルトランスレイット) is translated as Google Les Transformers.

Huh. I got Transformers Les Google. Avistew, get in here! This sounds French and we need as many foreign languages as possible to throw off the rabble!

    Even in Outlaw Star?

Also, Fallout and STALKER are much more immersive when played in a gas mask.

Expect both conventions to be full of nonsense. They always are, and I'm not going to watch either one this year. However, "family values" (for the "proper" definition of a family) has been a Republican stand for as long as I can remember.

If you think that's expensive, try having a baby. However, if Obamacare survives this next election, it'll be completely free next year. (The contraceptives, not the baby....)

Oh God, I miss that place. I used to spend hours in there just reading and sipping coffee. It used to be a place that I could go to to relax. Now we have this ebook bullshit.
  • edited August 2012
Ebooks ARE pretty bullshit. Convenience is just about the only thing they have going for them.

Politics as a whole have been a joke in the US for the past 30 years. It wasn't until the Civil Rights Act and the rise of Evangelicalism that the whole fakey "morality" and "traditional family values" detritus started becoming the forefront. These people are more concerned about women taking contraceptives at this point than the fact that the educational system is failing. Not that Democrats are any better. Politics are seriously a joke now and it makes me really mad that these clowns are rubbing their butts on the ground while people are legitimately suffering.

politics make me mad like hulk
