one thing that mad me angry with monkey 2 se. wallys voice was different than the one from monkey 3.

The funny part is, they specially got the guy back to voice the role! Neil Ross, I guess in those 13 years he's forgot how to exactly do that voice.

I actually think he forgot that he ever played that part before. and no one bothered to remind him...

I only have a couple of tiny problems:

Why did they change "Ghost-busting stud" to "Lechuck-busting stud"?

The spit coming from LeChuck's mouth is kind of annoying - it doesn't go with the rest of the art, somehow.

Wally sounds like an old man compared to CMI despite his character being younger now (granted, the actor may be older now).

The problem is that the areas where they didn't stay faithful (i.e. the two scrolling screens) aren't as a result of artistic merit but rather as a result of sloppiness.

You were involved in the production of the game? Neat. So how exactly did that decision come about?

Now you're just being blind... not saying it's because of sloppiness, but I can't think of an excuse to not have the screen scroll. Bad decision, and definately not of any artistic merit.

Still, minor fault with an otherwise excellent remake/upgrade.

I still prefer the origianl graphics, but still happy overall. Just some minor annoyances where times when you needed to be quick didn't give you enough time.
Also, what's with the commentary? I mean, it only came up a few times! There were so many times through the game when I really wanted to hear them comment on that part, like on Rapp Scallion's awesome body animation or anything at the end.

Yeah, I loved the commentary but I also expected there to be more of it.

Also, I was quite shocked (in an amusing way) hearing either Tim, Dave or Ron going quite often: "What's this? I can't remember this! Did they add that for the Special Edition?" *lol*

I have played the PC version a couple of hours, and I am very happy with it. It has little faults, yes, and the missed intro and credits are inexcusable, but overall is a very good remake, much better than the Monkey 1 Special Edition and its amateur graphics. The new art design and scenaries in Monkey 2 are simple awesome, very beautiful graphics. The new interface is much better and easy to use than the horrible Monkey 1 interface, and the new orchestated music is a delight.
Overall I think it is a very good edition and I am very happy with it.

Has anyone else had the problem (not really a problem) with the mouse going back to the centre of the screen when changing scenes (eg. walking into the Bloody Lip, after the scene changes the mouse cursor is now in the centre but as soon as you move the mouse it goes back to where it was before the scene changed)

No, didn't come across that one, luckily. What sort of mouse do you use?

Yeah, the opening credits is actually fully in there, even the SE monkeys and the "you guys get out of here" voice file, we just need to find a way of getting it to work in the game.

Oh, cool. I was really miffed that the intro was missing because I was really looking forward to seeing it, but if it's still there and can be patched in instead of just being cut for whatever reason then that's OK with me.

I would be really surprised if Lucasarts didn't patch this stuff, since to me it seems like just some oversights.

Overall I'm enjoying it, and I think I'm the only person on the Internet who likes Largo's voice.

This game is awakening the 2D graphics whore in me :D

I wish more companies would release beautiful 2D adventure games.

I thought it was awesome. I had tons of fun. It felt like playing MI2 for the first time again. I didn't play in classic mode. iMuse worked fine for me (PC). No intro was annoying, but I was ready for that from all the complaints. The opening theme is still there. The voice acting was generally OK, but Dom and Earl were, as usual, stellar. The unlocked art was a fun addition. Yes, I went for the achievements, and I felt silly for running through the game in 90 minutes, but I am enjoying a third, slower playthrough just to try and fiddle around with things, and listen to all the commentaries - which are also a nice addition.

If I want to play the classic version, I just use ScummVM. I extracted the monkey2.000 and monkey2.001 files from the SE. They're in there, I've paid for it, so it's perfectly fine - no need to hit the binaries newsgroups or shady websites in search of potentially infected or buggy files, and no need to wonder about the legality. They even use a patched version where you can input whichever numbers you want at the copy protection screen in the beginning.

i am to lacy to read thru all posts, but if you read the book about big whoop it says that Marley disappeared in the boat race to close the gab to MI4 a little

It says he disappeared in the America's cup race, just like it said in 1991. Escape changed it to Australia. Also, good luck with being lacy. Don't go close to fires.

I noticed that too. My only guess is that someone thought there might be a trademark issue with Ghostbusters.

Since that voice track from the intro is in there.. is the high-res artwork for the pictures during the credits there too?

Yes, it is, but only scaled up, not properly redone.

Just finished it. A handful of niggles aside the HD remake is excellent - does justice to the original game and stands up as a gorgeous, polished adventure in its own right, which I'm not sure could be said for the first SE. I have to tip my hat to Lucasarts for this one.

One major problem that needs patching asap are the time based puzzles, all of which seem to be broken. I was struggling to do the puzzles in time, and I knew exactly what I needed to do. It would be ridiculously harsh for people playing for the very first time.

I hate time-based puzzles because you can never be certain what you're trying to do is actually correct or if you're wasting your time attempting to get something to work that is never going to work.

I really enjoyed the SE, shame it's not been that long since I replayed the game. My only issue is with the commentary, I think it should have paused whenever you elected to listen to them because sometimes you miss dialogue in the game. Also occasionally if you start it too late it cuts off the commentary when it goes to the next scene. The ones in LeChuck's fortress have this problem. I think I listened to most of them though.

Can anyone tell me if the Iphone version has the same problems the unpatched PC version had? (Bone song out of synch, missing dinky island music etc)?

I wonder if David Lynch was the inspiration behind Guybrush's hair in Secret SE....
