On Kate, did anyone else grind their teeth each time you passed her handing out flyers and she repeated consecutively (sometimes several times) things like "sunken galleons", "cruises"?

It would have been okay had LA recorded more tones/moods for her repeated lines, like the various "neat's" Guybrush always remarks.
    Alas.

They definitely should've at the very least put more time between each of her lines. She was just wildly yelling non-stop.

And made the lines more random. One time I heard Kate saying "Glass-bottomed boat" FREAKING FOUR TIMES IN A ROW, that almost killed me.

    ....

I'm glad I left her in prison in the end.

That sort of thing what I was referring to when I said that the game wasn't originally designed to be a talkie.

That sort of thing would have been a 5 second fix for the programmers.

I seriously doubt the 5 second part but yeah it probably could have been 'fixed' in a number of ways, such as taking the lines out altogether but then the same would have to be done to the original and that's the sort of changes I don't think they wanted to do.

Out of curiosity, how would you 'fix' it, as just saying they should fix it means nothing really.

Well, they went as far as to have the Zonker Harris joke changed to Kyle Katarn one by the SE interpreter in both new and original version, it shouldn't have been a problem to fix the timing issue between phrases.

All they would have had to do is add an increment of time between each line, something I'm fairly certain SCUMM is easily capable of.

To be fair, the voiceover for Kate was just hilariously bad, compared to the rest of the cast. It's as if she wasn't even trying. I don't think anything could've done to help it without changing the voiceover completely.

I must be the only one who actually likes the CMI Stan voice. To me, that's how he should sound: a very salesman-like voice. But I do also like the Tales Stan voice.

Actually, I'm very fond of the CMI Stan. That it is the style I imagined hearing when playing the first game but I like that it was the original voice and wish it stayed consistent. Stan from Tales really didn't do anything for me and Escape *shutter*.

I've hanged my mind, here is my favourite Stan. :)
