hell no, i love this game
  • edited June 2012
Nope, I'm still looking forward to playing the game.
A shorter wait would have been better; if they'd managed to release as advertised we would have played episode 2 three weeks ago and have episode 3 arriving in ten days, that would have made a great experience, but ho-hum I'm still going to play and enjoy the game.

Definitely. I don't remember most of what happened in episode 1.

    Turn off... Major!

I am already thinking about passing on the rest of this series all together until it is all available. I have played way to many games at this point and honestly can't even remember the main characters names... At least I'm only out a couple bucks right now.

At first the delay bothered me because I was so ready for episode 2. Hanging on the boards and yacking with everyone kept me excited to continue. I wanted to play NOW, but was willing to wait for the monthly release without complaint.

Then the end of May came, went, and still nothing...

My attention span is not much better than a 2 year old's, so I moved on.

Now, I come by here once every week or two (when I think about it, which is not very often anymore) only to find nothing more than I found the last visit. Still no episode and no official word on release. I may make a post or two if something catches my interest, but frankly, I have lost interest in this game almost completely. Like others have stated, it has been so long that I have forgotten what I did in episode 1. I would have to replay from the beginning just to remember. If I am going to do that, I might as well wait until episode 5 is released.

I just don't care anymore. It'll come out whenever it comes out, and I will play it one day a year or two from now when the thought pops into my head, "Hey, I never finished playing The Walking Dead. I wonder if they ever finished making it?"

The way people are overreacting to the delay is baffling. It's just a month. Telltale's skipped a month before, and yet people are acting like this is the next Duke Nukem Forever.

To be honest, the wave of newcomers who neither know nor care about how Telltale works that this game is bringing in is killing me. Good thing Fables and King's Quest should be more nichey.

This newcomer is fine w/ waiting – gives me more time to replay E1. As a non-gamer I admit to having no specific interest in, or knowledge of, TTG but as a fairly intelligent person I appreciate their obvious attention to detail and will gladly wait for a quality product.

As a newcomer/non-gamer I try not to clog up the board w/ uninformed posts. Frankly, I don’t understand about 90% of what you all are talking about! I’m playing TWDG simply because I have an insane infatuation w/ all things TWD and I appreciate that when I get stuck in the game I can ask my newbie questions here and get help w/o being made to feel like a total idiot. :0)

That said (sorry I can’t resist) - to the question ‘Is TWG a racist game?’ Um, Lee is African American, darling Clem is mixed, Larry is a white-trash hick, Glen is Asian, Carly could easily be part Greek, Duck is arguably ‘special’ – couldn’t ask for much more of a diversified group.

Having to wait is one thing but having it postponed due to some programming faults is another. I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought it but to have people wait longer than 'what was marketed to them' is near right negligent. Because if you say one thing about your product like a release every month and do the opposite that kind of stuff sticks. If you go in head first with without considering the repercussions that's what you'll get; negative feedback. The result the user has to wait longer than was promised and lets be realistic, if something isn't reliable you simple don't go back to it.

I think the problem is remembering everything from the first game. If I had to wait two months between episodes of tv shows, I'm not sure how successful they'd be.

Yes it has... tbh. Following the end of the first episode I was really jazzed about playing this series. Now I can hardly remember what happened or which choices I made -- and I played through the game twice.

Wait, if you really can't recall much of what happened in the preceding episode, why not just go back and play said episode shortly before the release (when we do get a release date) of Episode 2? Let's not forget the "Previously on the Walking Dead" introductory scene that people claim plays out in each subsequent episode after the first.

The reason that its really gotten to me is simple...false advertising. Fraud even. Not only do you not release something I already paid for, you violate the terms that I bought it under...very annoying. And makes me NOT trust TellTaleGames...

I haven't even been paying attention to this game that much, check it every now and then like maybe once a week, DayZ has my attention right now. I probably won't even notice the day it does come out lol.

I use games as a reward for ticking off my to-do list (that probably sounds really childish but I'm a chronic procrastinator, work from home most of the time when I'm not travelling and have a hell of a lot to do, so any aid to maintaining self-discipline is useful). I'll split each episode into about 4 sessions and won't play it immediately so that the importance of the reward is elevated. I do the same thing with the books - although the new 3-week publishing regime means I get to read more pages per week. So in my masochistic world, deprived of Joe Average's 4 hours of trash tv a night and marathon CoD sessions, the delay in the release of second episode is just increasing its value as a reward to me (that and the fact that the first episode was so good). So there :P

I don't mind waiting for episode 2. Diablo 3 was a much longer wait.

I totally understand why it can be frustrating to get to play the game only a small piece at a time. I think Telltale should plan their release schedules more carefully, so that episode release dates can be closer together (maybe 2-3 weeks instead of 1-2 months). Even if it means delaying the release of the first episode. That way the gameplay experience is much more immersive and fun.

Or just release all the episodes together, instead of seperately (I think they did this with Jurassic Park?).
  • edited June 2012
The delay absolutely turned me off to this game. The way they did things just reeks of poor planning or a lack of concern for their customer base. This second episode has been on hold for how long now and not a word? If they can't release in a timely fashion or hell even just keep me informed why should I waste my time or money on them?

Whats more disturbing to me though? The fanboyism I see on this site. Its like people are forgetting that we *paid* them money to deliver a product. They don't need your blind fanboyism...Thats what makes developers think they can pull nonsense like this. They need to be told to get their s*it together.

Not just here, in gaming generally, i swear any other industry would have been put out of business a long time if they asked their cotumers to put up with half the crap the gaming industry does.

Can we "Fanboys" defend them if we're only paying by the episode unlike you season passes who are also getting a chance to win a part in the game unlike us xbox people?
  • edited June 2012
Yes when you play an episode game you dont want to wait 2 months to continue to play if they have the game ready than put it out there dont wait so long that when it does come out people dont want to play or get excited because guess what have to wait another 8 months to get final game done so not a good way to go
  • edited June 2012
It isn't that it is taking extra time, it is that they told us every month. If I'd have known it was going to be whenever they got around to it then I would have just waited until the whole thing was complete and bought it.

"Hey kid. You know how your mom won't let you have ice-cream till after dinner, but the waiting kinda makes it taste better? Well, I've been waiting two months for that bowl of ice cream.... and tonight, I'm going to have sex with it." - Barney Stinson

It's not turned me off of the game...I'll play it all out as it is released. However, it has completely turned me off of TellTale Games. I'll never buy another one of their products again. This game was released in a beta stage it seems (see other threads for all the problems it comes with) and its support is abysmal (one of the worst I've seen of any developer).

I just want the rest of the episodes I've paid for and I'm done.

Been playing LoL and GW2 beta weekends in the meantime.

Has the 2 months wait for the 2nd episode turned you off?

No, it's still an acceptable delay for me. But I would also be unhappy, if this happens for every episode that follows. I wouldn't start whining, complaining and asking for my money back though. I have other games to play and I'm no little child anymore.

I bought the game thinking that it would be a monthly release too. But you know, I'm grinding my characters in Diablo III, so I'm pretty well occupied. :D

My only problems it the lack of information. I recall there was delays in past as well, but at least they kept us somewhat updated. As it is now we have absolutely no idea when it will be released. When they first announced it was delayed until june, i honestly expected that it would be in beginning. It would be good to know if it will at least arrive in end of june or if it will be delayed further.

Plenty of other stuff to play in the meanwhile, so as much as I'm looking forward to continuing this story, I'm finally getting back to Hector episode 2, and Space Quest V, and King Tut's Tomb, if my Amazon copy of Captain 80's Book of BASIC Adventures shows up so I can correct the map data errors in the version I found online. :) And my wife and I are playing through Dead Island in co-op, so I'm getting my fill of lesser zombies.

I will, of course, set these other games aside for a few hours the moment I can download TWD 102. :)
