I disagree, and I wish Telltale gave him another shot. Although he is the ideal straight man, I find myself laughing at the self-parodying Sam than the eccentric Max. Plus, he can bounce off the characters at the table just as well as he can Max. I just don't want Max delivering the punchline again. He had his chance in Poker Night at the Inventory.
I think you're worrying a bit too much. From what I can tell, Max is there mostly to chime in only on occasion, not every single joke.
It's pretty cool that unlocking every poker set for one character grants you new dialog conversations (and possibly other things?) I wonder if the Aperture Inventory is going to involve turrets, uh..."escorting" players out of the tournament.
GLadOS: Test Subject Brock Samson has been eliminated from play.
Brock Samson: DAMMIT! THIS IS SUCH BULLSH-
GLadOS: And will now be implemented with 700 pounds of lead.
Brock Samson: ...wait, what?

"Xanadence Jones, Amateur Ace" confirmed for one of the new poker titles too! Neat.
By the way, do you guys plan on making a pre-loader on Steam? That'd be cool.
Actually, I found Sam's "noir" sequences in They Stole Max's Brain to be really compelling and amusing. I think that it probably takes more effort to get Sam working well on his own, but he's definitely got the depth for it.

The Devil's Playhouse ended up being one of my favorite Sam and Max stories because it focused so heavily on Sam. I feel like at the end of the day, Season Three was really Sam's story.
Sam alone also provides some of my favorite moments in the comics, like the middle of Bad Day on the Moon.

Ah, at the risk of further derailing the thread, such comments make me long to go on another adventure with those two.

Funny thing about perspectives is that I find it more like Max's story. For example compared to first and second season when it comes to games, he takes a away bigger role of being useful during the season 3's cases.

Not to mention that you spend more time actively controlling him. I totally see what Jake is say though - Sam's journey across season 3 is a lot deeper than Max's.
So I just decided to pause randomly in the vid to see what I find. Anyone notice that the challanges are a bit... not normal? "Buy Drinks for 3 or more players" for instance...

We can get them drunk confirmed.
Well, considering there's a challenge where "Win A Pot Where 2 Players Are In Love", I doubt those are ALL real...
On the other hand, Mad Moxxi does serve drinks to people (like Ash in the trailer), so maybe?

One of the cool things about our development system is that it's really REALLY easy to sneak nonsensical text into spinning wheels of randomness while they're spinning up

The difference though is I've never seen someone that likes claptrap beyond this forum. It seems so weird that this is the specific borderlands 2 character they picked when there are plenty of great borderlands 2 characters. Handsome Jack for example.
Then you aren't looking. I've seen several people that have said that they like Claptrap, here and beyond.
More importantly, Claptrap is the Mascot of the Borderland series, while Handsome Jack won't be showing up in any games past BL2.
It is also easier to get a hold of Claptap's voice actor

The plot is about Max -- what happens to Max, what events Max causes, what trouble Max gets into, etc, etc -- but the emotional core of Season Three is all on Sam (what does Sam go through, how does losing Max impact him, etc). In that way, the "real" story, the heart of the story, feels to me like it belongs to Sam. And that's pretty cool.

It works for Sam & Max as characters too, since I always thought Max's essence was all about action and Sam's was all about emotion.
Buying characters drinks has been confirmed. So we can get Claptrap drunk?
It would be even cooler if we can get GLaDOS or Winslow drunk too. Though this mechanic is just added gravy in my book to an already pretty worthwhile, $5 Poker Game. Will buying them drinks also affect how they play?

It apparently makes their tells more obvious.
I wonder if there's a way to get them so drunk they pass out of the tourney...
Either last minute bugs that need to be fixed, or Microsoft is seriously clamping down with its usual 'us first or you don't come on X360' attitude, or something of that sort.

Can't wait for Tuesday! Good trailer, Telltale.
I hope that's not a new hint system >_<

I want to see GLaDOS drunk.
They never said they had to be in live with each other. Claptrap is taken care of, and Max is around for Sam so...

Not too much here new, but something that I did notice was the price. $10. Why is the PSN version more expensive than the PC version?
Because they're punks, therefore they have to pay the toll for not having a PC.
Don't most people have both anyway?

Or sheet metal. Or something.
I do too, but then i love everything about the Borderlands games.
That article also talks about what type of players the characters are.
Okay, I walked into that one. Or screeched down the highway, clinging to the back of a DeSoto.

"Get out of mah chaih."
Heeeey, wasn't it 3 days until the unlock just yesterday?
Still less than a week off.
Getting him drunk makes it sound like it'd be easier to tell when you can make a big cash in on his confidence.
If it is Microsoft, we'll probably never know.
