I vote option 5, "other"..and my "other" vote? It was a huge success, one that didn't dampen the chances of success or whether The Walking Dead Season 2 will be liked or not. As other posters have said, this bundle of 5 short stories is but a small focus sample for the main course that's to come in Season 2. You don't like what happened in it? Then you won't like the new seasons..simple as that.
400 days was only meant to be a bridge between Season 1 and Season 2.
There was no promise of long game play, there was no promise it would be another "game".
People have paid money and are obviously disappointed that it is short, because they didn't read up on it and knew what to expect.
It's a good chance to meet some characters that will feature, and hopefully who left the camp at the end will be kept in Season 2.
But it is obvious that TTG need the cash also, hence why they sold their games on an indiebundle site before the DLC. They don't have a publisher deal here so they are missing out on forwarded income in that sense.
There are some people that think just because some episode is slightly worse than another one means that its absolute shit. 400 days was pretty good, but the main reason this wasnt as good as season 1-s episodes is probably the length and also the amount of characters that were introduced in such a short time window. If the stories were longer and some gave us more exploration like Shels one then it would have been better.
ok everyone needs to calm the fuck down...it was meant to keep us entertained while they work on the second season...its called a DLC for a reason......name a better dlc for $5...there isn't much......they were good short stories when you think about it for the little amount of time and a dlc like that isnt that easy to make....if they didnt bring 400 days ppl would complain their taking too long and if u they brought season 2 out earlier some would complain it wasnt full potential. Some of the charachters were also relatable which is hard to do in 20. sure it wasnt like season one but that wasnt the idea. END of rant.

This.
TellTale does everything for us gamers to give us the best experience. Would you rather go 10 months with NO walking dead, or 400 Days DLC?
I enjoyed episodes 1-5 enough that I didn't hesitate to get 400 days or even read anything about it. I saw it on steam and it was in my cart exactly 5 seconds later.
Having played it, 400 days feels like a test run of a couple new game mechanics and an introduction for season 2. I can imagine that offering fresh game mechanics in a point-and-click game would be really difficult. I'm glad to see some effort put into that though.
400 days may be disappointing in terms of game content - it didn't really tie into the S1 story and had barely any emotional tug or sense of peril compared to previous episodes - but I'm excited to see what develops from this apparent experiment. I think it's pretty clear that this was not developed to be a "game of the year" type of thing. I think 400 days succeeds at meeting its intended goals.
I agree success can hamper creativity, but I don't think its happened to telltale - not yet anyhow.
I wanna make sure I get my information correct:
In an hour length of time (length of 400 Days Episode) people were expecting to get the same amount of character development, story, and writing as the game you spend nearly 10 +/- hours with.
....
Yeah. Makes TOTAL sense. I see your point.
[/sarcasm]
I think what people are missing is the possibility that some things may not appear in Season 2 if you don't have a 400 Days save, that would be awesome if they did that.
Sorta like a thanks for helping out, here is more characters in your story.
People who didn't get 400 days, just get the standard group of people. Would do well
I just hope it doesn't affect season 2 too much. Apart from Vince, Bonnie and Nate, the characters didn't seem interesting enough for me to want them to be too important to the storyline. I especially hope I don't play as any of them.

They will probably just make a cameo, though I wouldn't mind seeing them around a lot,I found every character interestng in their own ways.
Telltale Games have long been ruined thanks to you Walking Dead fans! They existed before this damn game you know! Back when they made Adventure and it was up to people like myself to keep them floating by buying their merch and praising their titles.
The tide changed around Back to the Future, gone were the puzzles and actual Adventure style instead we were stuck with basic puzzles and hold your hand gameplay, and now thanks to everyone screaming how great The Walking Dead is, they've abandoned all their past projects! From here on out it's just TWD, I doubt we'll ever see another title from Telltale again that isn't TWD related. Poker Night 2 was only done as a cash in to try and appease to us long time fans, in a sort of "OH hey, we remember you guys, you know, the ones who bought Sam & Max, oh look, Adult Swim stuff to, and Claptrap for some reason!".
I didn't read much about 400 days before I got it so I wasn't sure what it would be. I think I would have preferred it if they stuck to just one of the characters for the entire length instead of the tidbits with 5. I didn't care for that. I haven't finished it yet only played 3 but I'm not really interested in the others. The gameplay mechanics are no better for me than they were in Season 1 so I'm even less excited for Season 2 which I was probably already going to just watch a walkthrough video of anyway. I was hoping 400 days would change my mind. It didn't.

The Walking Dead is a good game, even if it's not traditional point and click adventure. Personally I thought that it was improvement compared to Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. And while I was unhappy because Telltale abandoned King's Quest, so that they could focus to another season of The Walking Dead, it's not surprising considering their history. (However I want to point out that I don't think that Season 2 of the Walking Dead is a bad idea, but I just like King's Quest franchise more. The Walking Dead is rather new to me while I've been King's Quest fan from late 80's/early 90's).
TTG usually focuses to projects which bring profit. I don't have Bone, but AFAIK it was abandoned after two episodes and never finished, because TTG was busy with Sam & Max and other titles. However I have Wallace & Gromit (I like the game very much) and it's Collector's DVD is disappointing and was made very hastily, apparently because the game didn't sell well. Also it's forums were moved to "The Classics" -category soon after it's release.
Is that the reason they did not make a Kings Quest game? I thought it had something to do with Disney closing Lucas Arts, correct me if I am wrong about that.

Original King's Quest series was made by Sierra, not by LucasArts, so it has nothing to do with it. In an interview TTG said that they wanted to focus on other things and classic point and click à la King's Quest doesn't suit to their currect plans. Naturally some fans of classic point and click adventures don't like the new direction TTG has taken with games like Jurassic Park and The Walking Dead.
I am willing to admit The Walking Dead wasn't what I wanted from Telltale and it is slightly below average for Telltale compared to their early games like Sam and Max, Strong Bad and Wallace & Gromit and a lot of The Walking Dead fans aren't the best fans in the world and are extremely impatient even though they are getting a sequel more rapid than any other title...
However I am not displeased with TWD or 400 days
It is something different and very story based and the Puzzles may be simple and easy and it in many ways can't live up to Telltale's past but it is a big improvement upon Jurassic Park and if TWD were the same I would perfectly understand but at least TWD has some depth and has worked out how to make an interactive movie adventure work and I can say I'm more looking forward to TWAU and I dream of S&MS4 but it is better than some of the alternatives...
Well I am not that type of fan, I can way for stuff to happen and I waited patiently for the Episodes to come out, I have started to play there old point and clicks and I like them, I personally think Walking Dead was there best game but if they made only classic point and clicks I would still stay.
400 days clearly tries to do to much with to little.
It would be equal to try and fit all 3 old starwars movies into one. It would be a mess.
They're not trying to fit three games into one. Its an anthology. You see this kind of format in movies all the time but I think this is the first time Ive seen it done in video game form.
Nothing can tank quite as hard as Bioware with Mass Effect. 400 Days opens up the possibility of a continued story line that could connect with other characters. In a special episode it ties up one story of how a group of survivors and their stories before they revealed the ending. Only to lead to more of course, you can't even insult the writing for this episode because I've seen more dynamic dialogue from Eddie talking about how you shouldn't do this while on that than I saw from any other options from the first season.
You don't have to start every story early on, but it is nice to get an understanding of the choices made that got them there. People get unsatisfied way too quickly when it comes to story writing for some reason, I don't think the OP would be any better at writing or creating plot curving choices either way, which is why he's just on a forum.
Obviously it didn't pack the same emotional punch as Season 1, but what was the OP expecting? Its a DLC that takes about an hour to complete, not a full game.
we gotta remember this is only a DLC,and a damn good one at that, anyone played 'heavy rain DLC'? it lasts like 10 minutes LOL each 20 minute episode feels like a tease because in reality it is,im sure all answers will come with season 2,and the cornfield episode was awesome...my only gripe would be with what they are building upto in season 2 having a Crawford type place, been there done that with S1 and the tv show
They kind of do that with the comic. They jump from Woodberry to the saviors, but it's still awesome. I don't find any problem with that... By the way, we never saw crawford in action, so if they do, then it will be something never before done in the game. It'll be fine. Plus, I'm guessing it's as innocent as Tavia says, mainly because of the guy on the radio, but when they get close, they'll either find it was overrun, or her radio contact will warn them to stay away, as it is being overrun.
Also, on topic, I loved the dlc. It was awesome, your choices had more weight on the world around you (if you played it in order), and the characters had me reasonably attached from the 10-15 minutes I got to know them. Nate and Eddie especially.
Yeah, I dont see any Crawford situation here. Im really interested to see a functioning community that is the opposite of Crawford and maybe we'll see some old friends there.
Ludicrous poll, it wasn't even a full episode and you can't judge it as such. Considering how small it was, Telltale did a great job of squeezing in 5 stories, especially without Clementine.
Yeah, if Clem were there, that would've taken somewhat from these 5 stories a bit. Instead of just giving us more Clem, it gave us 5 brand new well written characters.
IMO, Starved for Help is my least favorite out of the 6 episodes. They waited pretty long to release that one anyways. I don't know how long that gap was between Ep 3 and Ep4, but Around Every Corner is my favorite episode.

Agreed. But WD game fans ARE the reason why we can't comment in blog posts anymore.
