The Walking Dead for Wii U

edited December 2013 in The Walking Dead

I completed the whole season 1 of Telltale's "The Walking Dead" and enjoyed the heck out of it on Xbox 360. Due to Xbox One and PS4 coming out, I sold my Xbox 360 and got a Wii U. I am very disappointed "The Walking Dead" has not been released for Wii U. I bet there are many Wii U owners out there waiting for "The Walking Dead" Season 1 and 2. I have to admit I am surprised. If it can be released on iPad, why not Wii U?

  • I'm waiting...no reason it can't come to the Wii U!!! The tablet-controller would be perfect for this game!!! I could play this on the controller, while my wife watches her TV shows on the TV! It's a match made in heaven!!

I can guarantee there's a much larger audience on iOS than the WiiU. Afaik the only games selling well on the WiiU are first party titles and I suspect that's kept a lot of third party developers and publishers away. To my knowledge the best games out on it right now are Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D world (all Nintendo games). There just isn't a lot of third party support.

According to VGChartz, of the top ten best selling games on the WiiU the only third party title is ZombieU. Only the top five (New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land, Super Mario 3D World, New Super Luigi U and Wii Party U) have sold more than 1 million units worldwide. A lot of developers just don't want to spend time and money porting their game over to a console that probably wont sell many copies.

With that said, Telltale make TWD for the Vita and are working on an Ouya port so they don't seem to care about how small the audience is. There could be a version on WiiU at some point but Telltale haven't made any official announcements for it.

  • wow you sold your Xbox for a Wii U really??? your brave. I grew up with Nintendo and there's one thing I know about them they'll make 30 more Mario and at least six more Zelda games before they put games like TWD on their console. Nintendo rarely creates new franchises for their western customers.

  • I loved playing telltale games on my Wii, sam and max, strongbad, monkey island... i think i bought pretty much all the had to offer. Its a real shame i cant play walking dead on wii U, for some reason I'm just not interested in playing on my PC. i Just want to relax in front of the TV. How can we show Telltale want this on WiiU?

  • Maybe the Wii U and Nintendo Systems are underestimated for this Genre. I for myself could even see it on the DS to be honest. But after all Nintendo stays for a Family friendly Concept. Then again it has something like Zombie U.

  • I'd love to be able to play games like The Walking Dead & Wolf Among Us on my 3DS.

  • imagine the choices on the gamepad, and the game on the tv. that would be awesome

  • Just bought me a new Wii U and I'm still waiting for this great game to make it's way to the eShop.

  • Already playing it to bits on my Mac. But I'd totally buy all their games over again for the Wii U if they ever appear on the eShop. Would love to experience them again on the big TV screen with touch controls for dialogue choices.

  • Make this happen, TellTaleGames!!

  • Return of the old thread

  • I wouldn't mind playing it on Wii U. They could put the Dialogue options on the gamepad.
