I'm passing the next 50 minutes reading the comic archives from Double Fine Studios, the people that brought you Psychonauts, a fantastic platformer that, if you didn't buy, you have no sense of art or beauty and shouldn't be allowed to even look at SBCG4AP, let alone play it.
Ok, I'm sorry, I didn't mean those harsh words. I'm just coming apart at the seams. I mean, SBCG4AP is so close I can taste it, and then Fallout 3 tomorrow or Wednesday (whenever it gets delivered, I got overnight shipping ya'll!), I'm just in total anticipation mode.
I love you guys, I'd never hurt you on purpose.
*starts crying*
But really, the comic archives over at Double Fine are pretty entertaining. I'm reading Epic Quest or something. It looks like one of them old "text/graphics interface" games.
ohh crap....and i need to stay at the office for another 30 minutes...and then drive home one hour...and all the time episode 3 is out and i can't play it.
Ok, I just completed episode 3, and here are my impressions -
1. MUCH longer than the other 2, which is fantastic!
2. MUCH harder than the other 2, which is good too, though it mean I had to cheat a few times!
3. Is it me, or is this game a bit less funny than 101 and 102? There are some massive laughs here
The cheat in a bikini made me laugh harder than I've ever laughed before
, but some large parts of the game made me only chuckle a little bit, which sucks.
4. Some of the puzzles are a bit stupid, like
Mixing up the records for the two-o duo
or
Putting the metal antenna thing in the blubbos whale
, but luckily it mostly makes sence.
5. No proper Teen Girl Squad! Just a little cutscene about limozeen beating them up.
Review scores for each episode so far:
Homestar Ruiner - 8.8/10
Strong Badia the Free - 9.2/10
Baddest of the Bands - 9.0/10
Also, next episode looks awesome... but something bothers me - is it going to be about making Dangeresque or actually BEING Dangeresque?
I know I've said this about every single game TT has put out since "Situation: Comedy", but that was even better than the last! Not as many deep laughs this time around (although Homestar's
food related song
had me in tears of mirth), but the surprising length and great puzzles made up for it.
Has anyone else had this message on starting: An error has occurred in the script for this page. Line: 1 Char: 1 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: file://E:\Documents and Settings\...\Temp\2A263E6784D24B9882B7B110CF9F1A2E\launcher\success.html?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled and redownloaded.
I second this. Just played the game through and loved it. Laughed a lot, although I haven't found everything yet. I enjoyed how TGS was worked in as well, even if it wasn't interactive this time.
I like the fact that each game is a little harder than the last one. The game really was awesome. I just finished it, but I'm not sure if I have 100% yet. I still need to play the Limozeen game. Loved the Teen Girl Squad, too.
Loved the bands (although since rap isn't my thing, the Two-o-Duo was amusing, but not musically entertaining :P) and Homsar sounded awesome.
Oh! I forgot to mention... I SO knew that one of the next two episodes would be about that. After the subtle hints and such, and the fact that it has been forever... I am looking forwards to what will likely be an even better episode next month!
EDIT: Okay, played the Limozeen game... I'm only mildly impressed. It gets WAY too fast-paced and frantic for my liking by level 5 or 6. I've gotten 43150 points, and I just can't seem to get higher than that. It kind of sucks, and I wish the point goal had been a bit lower. Just because someone says a mini-game is easy, doesn't mean it is for everyone. I like it.. it's just.. gods is it hard to keep up later levels.
I had this. I just exited and restarted and it was fine. I still get missing eyes from time to time. Great game though. I always look forward to the next episode. I'm really hoping next month we get to play as Strong Bad and Homestar in a Maniac Mansion kind of way. That would be sweet.
Also, was I the only one who though D.O.I's music was kind of cool?

Ah, that reminds me: This one was a tad bit buggy. Not gamebreaking, just weird.
For instance, Coach Z clipping through Bubs after certain combinations of
the dance puzzle.
Characters holding items (including SB and his metal detector) would sometimes use their normal stance, leaving the items to clip through the floor or their bodies.
For the first half of the game, you could still highlight clickables while a talk scene was going. That lead to a lot of Strong Sad having his name float in front of him, since he takes up most of the screen while talking to him in his room.
There's also one truly egregious bug, at the end of the game:
It took a butter coating to get the KOT to eat the bats. We all know that KOT would have eaten them long before SB could pour the butter into the fog machine.
This episode was the best to play, but it's also the most dissapointing to me. Sort of like if you wanted a BLT Sandwich and someone got you a coronation chicken. It's tasty, but it isn't what you wanted.
What I mean by this, is I really think they dropped the ball musically on this. The highlight of the episode was Homestars cover of 'Food Related Love' and it got me hoping for more. But, well, we didn't get any. Strong Bad didn't even sing, and he sings a lot in H*R.
Limozeen didn't really need to be there either. They could've fit a song onto it somewhere. We don't hear much of Two-o Duo either, just random snippits. Cool Tapes were the best band-wise, and their Anti-Limozeen song was also pretty good.
I'm not saying I don't like the episode, far from it. I just wanted more... music from an episode about music! I'd've been happy if there was a CD player or something so you could listen to one track from each band. As it is, it is the coronation chicken sandwich to my BLT needs. But still well worth a purchase to everyone, as it still is the best SBGC4AP episode so far.
Plus, it makes me look forward to Dangeresque 3 more.
It might be nice to get full-length versions of some of the songs in some form, though. Be it in a soundtrack CD, MP3 posted on the site, in the end-of-season DVD...
"Food-Related Love" was definitely the highlight of this episode, I agree with the general consensus on that. I loved that puzzle, too. I suppose we were
supposed to think that we were supposed to use "escargot" for the second thing? Clever bit of misdirection, there.
Loved the "It's a bottle of WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE" joke, too. Had me laughing far too much for such a stupid pun.
Everyone: Well, there's nothing to stop TBC releasing some songs on the site, so maybe we'll get to hear some TOI and Two-o Duo in the future. I'm sure we'd all like that.
I stand behind "Demonic Octopus Incorporated" being a completely awesome band name.
I ended up with Degenerate Omelet Incorporated...which I rather like. I'm going to have to play through more, though, to get more. In as far as that goes, I rather liked Strong Bad's homage to the Death Metal e-mail given all his band name ideas were "DE" words.

Amazingly, other parts of America (and the rest of the world too!) exist in different 'time zones', which means it's not 9am here in California yet
Because... comics... take alot of time to read...
EDIT: It's out! Yes!
I suppose I'll have time to play this game this afternoon. Ah, adventuring and clicking. Two of my favorite passtimes!

Not really, but and one point when Strong Bad was talking about the fish stones, he said 'Erosio-' and then cut off.
Damn. looks like im gonna have to uninstall and install again
That. Was. Beautiful.
"No, sounds......Dangeresque...."
It says heck, but SB really says crap.
And Limozeen's game walks all over Math Kickers.
Yet another jorb well done.

I guess I'm the only one who liked Math Kickers.

You should put a chicken on your head anyway. Maybe even a baster scepter.

Not so! The leftmost option was "Diamond".
What's a "not soul"?
