Announcement: Sorry guys for the inactivity had some stuff and thangs to take care of over the past few weeks, here's a short part to get things rolling again ;)

“I can’t give you answer now, until I consult this with my people, but everyone is welcome to come with us” James said firmly and kindly.

“It is best that we all had more time to think about this” Vanessa interjected rigidly.

“There’s no harm in thinking things through, but if we ought to think about our supply situation, we’re gonna need to trust these people” Quirk jerked her shoulder.

    “I’ll go!” Anselm gasped decisively.

“What? you can’t” Valerian sounded shocked.

“Why not? It’s what I want to do” Anselm frowned.

“Maybe we’ll leave you guys for a bit to talk this through” James got up and signaled his crew to step out.

“I know you guys think this is a bad idea, but it’s a good one actually I’m the only one that doesn’t have a family member alive and with me here, that is why I want to do this, there’s no risk with me and I can check if these people are who they say they are” Anselm said solemnly.

“You’re family to me!” Valerian objected.

“No, I was only a warm body for you, don’t make this all dramatic Val” Anselm scoffed sarcastically.

“It wasn’t like that” Valerian muttered unconvincingly.

“For all it’s worth I think it’s a good idea, if they’d want to kill us we would be dead already” Quirk grunted.

“You don’t know what these people are really planning!” Vanessa snapped.

“No point always assuming that new people we encounter are bad from the get go, lets give them a chance and if Anselm is willing to risk on going back with them, then I’m fine with it, we’re not going to survive the whole winter like this....this is something we ought to consider” Margaret said calmly.

“So, it’s settled then” Anselm nodded and started gathering his gear.

Earlier that day, it was a quiet one at Glen Arbor, Amita woke up and slowly got dressed while also dwelling on where James and the others were. She loved James, but never actually told him yet, since they weren’t together too long. Amita decided to check on Laura who was living in a small house across the street close to the metal barricade. As she strolled over, Orla and Fred were chatting and snickering on lookout, the three greeted each other before getting back to work. Laura was upstairs in her room praying while Ryan and Rory were playing and trying to sneak out of the settlement.

“Oh sorry I didn’t--” Amita gasped shyly.

“No need to apologise I just finished, please come in Amita, you slept well?” Laura smiled warmly.

“Actually I did, it’s nice to be able to....properly sleep again” Amita smirked.

“It seems we’re starting to feel safe here, although we all know that is not the case” Laura remarked thoughtfully.

Ryan overheard his mum talking to Amita and decided to sneak into the kitchen and out the backdoor, Rory was already there drinking hot chocolate

“Hey, mum’s upstairs we can sneak out I found another way out of this place, we can go to the lake it’ll be fun” Ryan sounded optimistic and persuasive.
“I dunno.....I don’t want mum to worry about us, not like last time” Rory replied softly.

“Come on Rory don’t be chicken, it’ll be fun on the outside just like before” Ryan said cheerfully while sneaking out through a weak point in the fence.

“We’re gonna get in trouble, mum will kill us and it’s freezing out there” Rory shivered.

“Don’t be dumb Rory, now stop worrying and c’mon” Ryan turned the knob and sneaked out headed for the metal barricade.

    [Go after Ryan]

    [Stay in the kitchen]

  • Ay, it is back! I was already going through withdrawal :D I'm very happy my favourite story is back!

    [Stay in the kitchen]

No Ryan. Bad Ryan! It's going to be bad enough if one boy does something stupid like that. Getting both of them in danger is even worse. The best Rory can do is not supporting this madness. Perhaps that way, Ryan is getting bored soon and returns without getting in danger. Seriously, that happened once already and if I'm not completely mistaken, it ended with Svetlana being captured, tortured, raped and ultimately killed by that degenerate Hiram. They have to lock that boy into a room and throw away the key, or else he is getting himself or (again) someone else killed.

“We just met” Marcin gasped rather roughly through his teeth while glaring at Konni and her people.

“Hmm, we’re taking you all back anyway until we clear this whole....situation maybe I’ll let you leave, but only....only if you’re gonna be straight with us.....I know Zara ain’t so innocent....you darling have a lot of explaining to do” Konni tutted in front of Zara with a grim smirk.

“Alright no point wasting time, Bryan, Gared tie these guys up, I’ll handle Zara......this time you’re not getting away so easily” Zara ordered and whispered into her ear.

Bryan hesitantly approached Marcin, he swallows profoundly before zip-tying his hands “I’m sorry if its too tight, we--” he stutters.

“Just get on with it” Marcin stopped him rigidly.

Bryan Smith was caucasian and looked to be in his thirties, he stood six feet tall almost leveled with Marcin. After tying his hands, Bryan lifted his frightened chubby face and scratched his brown short curly hair before taking a stepping back. Marcin took a long glance at him and realized that Bryan looked like an ordinary guy, completely distorted from the reality he lives in, his hands were shaking, how on earth is this guy still breathing he thought. On the other hand, his other male companion Gareth Northland looked more in control and sneering as he tied Sergio and Stan. Gareth was about twenty-seven, he had surfer blonde curly hair and strange green eyes. He wore an oversized warm yellow jacket with a black t-shirt underneath, additionally his red pants made him even more ridiculously visible.

“Everyone comfy? ok, lets move” Konni signaled.

After a long and seemingly endless walk, Konni broke the silence “You bunch aren’t too talkative are ya?” she smirked casually.

Marcin glanced among his fellow captors, Zara avoided eye contact her face looked worried, Sergio had a blank expression ever since they started this little trek and Stan was subtly trying to loosen the zip-ties he had no intention of giving up and getting held in some God knows what place. He looked at Marcin and waited for him to say or signal something.

[Nod affirmatively - try to escape]

[Nod negatively - continue to walk]

Rory wasn’t going to be fooled by Ryan again, by sneaking off and get someone killed including themselves, the lake was frozen this time of year and Ryan still didn’t understand the word danger. Rory finished his hot chocolate innocently and went to see his mother upstairs.

“Good morning Rory you slept well? wow you are getting taller every day” Amita asked softly in her sweat indian accent.

“What is it dear are you okay?” Laura approached him and checked his forehead.

“You are a little warm” Laura muttered worriedly.

“I’m fine mum, can I go and see Judith?” Rory asked kindly.

“Sure you can, but first we need to check if you’re not running a temperature” Laura kissed his forehead and hugged him tightly.

“Oh, uhm okay” Rory muttered innocently.

“We’ll talk later Amita okay?” Laura smiled warmly.

“Sure Laura, I’ll see you two later then, bye” Amita nodded softly.

Amita exited the house, she looked up at the grey sky, sleet turned into rain. A quiet day without worrying about walkers was something that the whole community needed. Paul West was heading down the street in her direction sharpening his hunting knife as he strolled. You’d never guess he’s twenty-two, small fine face with short narrow nose accompanied with thin lips made him look like teenager. Additionally his bushy black hair and his glasses with thick black frames made him look like an intelligent student, which he was. Paul was already here when her group arrived. The young lad never struck to be very talkative she barely had any contact with him and if she had a chance to talk he’d barely say anything about himself. However he has become very useful and skilled with his machete and knives. He always wears a black ragged sweater that his father gave him matched with dark slim pants to make him less visible. In the distance men and women were piling up dead bodies from the walker attack a few days ago, it was the biggest wave yet and we suffered deeply, but there is always hope when we’re still here together fighting as one. It would be nice to see James and the others again.

“Everything alright Amita?” Fred called out from the wall.

“Oh yeah, yeah I’m fine....was just doing a lot of thinking, that’s all” Amita smiled.

“Stop worrying so much, he’ll be back, they will all come back” Fred remarked optimistically.

  • [Nod negatively - continue to walk]

The problem with trying to escape is that these people have freaking assault rifles. If Marcin, Sergio and Stan try to escape, it is very likely that one, or even all of them, end up getting shot. For now, Konni seems not too bad, as long as the group does not try anything funny. After all, she even said that she might let them go if they tell her the truth, which they did. Taking them back to her base until the situation is cleared is actually not an unreasonable thing to do from her standpoint, so I don't see why they should get on her bad side by running away. If anything, that would make them look like the bad guys here.

Marcin decided to nod sideways indicating that this wasn’t the right time for an escape, although Stan thought otherwise but he went along and stopped fiddling with the zip-ties.
“Ain’t you a pretty fella, good call by the way” Konni remarked cheerfully as she walked alongside Marcin.

“Good call?” Marcin frowned in confusion.

“I saw you signaling your friend, no point denying anyone would’ve tried in this situation, but I’m only going to say this once, if one of you tried to escape I’ll personally put a bullet in between your eyes” Konni said strictly.

“A little harsh don’t you think?” Marcin joked.

“Not really, we’ve taken to many chances before......if you guys aren’t with her, then we’ve got bigger problems, trust me” Konni remarked toughly.

“What problems? if you know she did something bad, why wouldn’t you just kill her?” Marcin asked firmly.

Konni turned and glanced at Marcin giving him a brief sneer “Maybe I will, I just want to know why she did it”.

    “Did what?” Marcin persisted.

Konni ignored his question and only replied “You’ll find out.....or maybe you already know”

After a long while of pondering the group were approaching a fortified town, Marcin and the others gazed ahead at the vast metal wall surrounding the place, Konni pulled out a radio and spoke “We’re close by, send someone to open the gate”

“You don’t have any lookout towers, the wall seems sturdy enough, maybe even a bit intimidating, still I don’t think your people would even notice someone sneaking in--” Marcin said casually.

“Shut the hell up, nobody asked you to talk!” Bryan smacked his head with the rifle stock, causing him to fall to his knees.

“Oh my....what in God’s name are you doing Bryan?” Konni questioned him cynically.

“Putting him in his place” Bryan replied firmly.

“For now we need them alive....we need to find out who they are....who are they working with and so on, but you could’ve accidentally killed by that blow to the head and that way we just lose vital information, so next time stand the fuck down!” Konni remarked disconcertedly.

“You okay Marty?” Sergio helped him up.

“Yeah just peachy Sergio” Marcin sneered before Gareth ordered them to move.

The gate screeched while being opened by a young small caucasian female, she had exceptionally long brown curly hair and was frighteningly skinny.

“You sure know when to bring in newbies” The girl remarked with a sneer.
“How’s everything back here Polly?” Konni asked firmly.

“Quiet, what did you expect? is this her?!” Polly frowned and charged towards Zara.

“Bryan hold her!” Konni ordered roughly.

“You’ll have a piece of her later Babe” Bryan muttered while holding her away from Zara.

Sergio, Stan, Marcin and Zara were taken to one of the houses for interrogation, the community was surprisingly small Marty pondered. He imagined them to be more developed, but instead all they had were these walls and some better than average weapons. They were escorted to one of the homes and down to a dimmed basement where they were once again tied only this time sitting on chairs. Gareth stood on guard by the stairs while Bryan went back outside after securing their new captives.

“I’m going to start with you, why did you attack my people?!” Konni asked Zara angrily after a brief moment of staring at them all.

“I didn’t do anything, your people were hostile....” Zara squealed.

“Oh is that so? hmm that doesn’t sound right” Konni muttered disconcerted.

“It’s the truth, they wanted to take my supplies that I desperately needed....I shot one of them and ran away that’s it” Zara said tearfully.

“Their bodies were all burned when I arrived! you’re either lying or protecting someone, maybe one of you know something that I don’t, you! you were all very chatty on the road, so tell me.....what did she say when you first met her, if....what you said back in the woods was true then she must’ve told you something about who she is or who is she with?” Konni directed her attention on Marcin and pulled out her blooded knife.

[Truth - She mentioned about some other people waiting for her]

I still see absolutely no reason to protect Zara and to get on Konni's bad side. This is something between these two, while Marcin and the others have just stumbled upon this conflict by accident. Konni is clearly the one in charge in this situation, so getting on her good side keeps them alive. Being honest and cooperative with Konni is the logical thing to do, because I definitely don't see a reason to risk Marcin and co. for this girl we barely know. That said, Konni and her group do give me the creepy vibes. This is actually even more of a reason to get on her good side, because I don't want to piss off potential psychopaths. Let's keep it civil, tell her what she wants to know, make it clear that we are not involved at all with Zara and her group and hope for the best.

Also, I just took a look at the character list and damn... I could swear it looked a lot smaller the last time I looked. Like, the one character I submitted when the current chapter started is now pretty much in the middle of the list. Seems like it almost doubled in length since I last had a look at it. That's crazy XD

I agree with Liquid, there is no sense in lying. I think Zara and her group are dangerous and we shouldnt provoke them. The best we can do is to cooperate.

  • The Elberta Outpost was just another small town with a handful of empty homes lacking any really defenses and for now solely serving as a bridging point to Glen Arbor. The entrance to the town was protected by numerous metal pikes tied and scattered around on the road with a few dead corpses impaled on them. Emmet led the newcomers and Mickie was standing on top of one of the houses which served as a lookout point. He waved giving her the green light that Wesley and his small group were friendlies, Nathaniel showed up as they got closer “These people with you Emmet?” he gasped.

“Relax Nat, they’re cool they saved my life out there, put the rifle away” Emmet replied calmly.

“Right sorry it’s good to see back, what happened to the rest? are they alive?” Nathaniel asked in a sorrowful tone, he hated good people dying even if they weren’t close to him.

“I’m sorry pal” Emmet responded in a defeated tone.

"It's good you're back" Nathaniel replied after briefly lowering his head in sorrow. They entered the seemingly safe and deserted outpost “Where’s everybody?” Emmet asked with concern. Nathaniel looked worriedly up at Mickie on the roof “They left” he said.

“Left? for where? back to Glen Arbor but why? we were meant to recruit people, expand....argh nothing ever goes the way it suppose to” Emmet gasped in slight disappointment.

“We still can, look at the bright side the fewer of us stay here makes us less vulnerable, people got scared, walkers kept coming more than ever before....and you were gone for a long time, we all voted on who wants to go and who wants to stay” Mickie said in a positive tone.

“Bright side huh?.......so what made you and Mickie stay behind?” Emmet shook his head in discontent.

“This place feels right...at least for me and someone had to wait until you and....eh the rest to come back” Nathaniel sighed.

“That’s very...noble of you kid thanks......and you Mickie can’t face Orla after you two broke up huh?” Emmet mumbled.

“Something like that” She folded her arms and tried to avoid the answer.

“Anyway at least I brought someone back or maybe they brought me back heh hmm....this is Wesley, his daughter Skylar, Florence and Richard and of course his dog Timothy” Emmet introduced them.

“That’s so cool can’t remember the last time I saw a dog” Mickie said happily and started to pet the animal.

“Yeah we’ve been through some tough times together” Richard smirked.

“Seems like it’s not that safe as you said it was, but it’s a good place to start, hell we’ve er, never stayed in one spot for too long” Wesley muttered indifferently.

“We’ll rest up here for a few days and later I’ll take you all up to Glen Arbor” Emmet sighed.

“C’mon guys in, it’s cold out here huh” Nathaniel called out and invited them to one of the few homes.

“I’ll stay out here keeping an eye on things” Mickie remarked and climbed back on to the roof.

“I’ll go make us something to drink” Emmet groaned.

“How long have you two been alone holding the fort?” Wesley asked curiously.

“A week, maybe two” Nathaniel sighed.

“And you’re not scared to stay here with only your friend to help you out?” Skylar interjected worriedly.

“I was asked to keep this place going and I don’t want to fail anyone” Nathaniel sounded like he was trying to prove a point.

“The pikes outside won’t keep the dead out, I don’t want to imply or suggest anything but maybe sometimes it’s better to move on, in this case go back to where the heart of the community is at, Glen Arbor” Wesley said calmly.

“It’ll get better I’m going to work my ass off if I have to, we need another place that would serve as home to new people such as yourselves, don’t get me wrong Glen Arbor is doing great but.....what if that place falls one day, then what? there’s no place to go to.....Elberta started out as an outpost, but I’m hoping it could become something more” Nathaniel argued reasonably.

“Never keep all your eggs in same nest huh” Emmet chuckled as he brought them all something to drink.

“You’re still going need more working hands for that” Wesley smiled.

“Obviously, Emmet......we gotta make this work” Nathaniel sighed.

“Why not try and expand somewhere closer to home? if I’m correct it’s still about 40 miles from here that ain’t exactly close innit?” Wesley pointed out.

“Now that isn’t a bad idea” Emmet mumbled while taking a sip.

“Whatever no-one wants to help, I’ll be fine by myself” Nathaniel grunted and was heading for the door.

“That kid sometimes” Emmet sighed worriedly.

“I don’t want to stick my nose in, but what’s his deal with this place, it’s far from safe, was he from around here or what making him so sentimental?” Skylar murmured.

“He found this place all by himself and decided that.......look some people had a bit of a fall out with the others so the only solution was to find or make another community, Nathaniel he can be a stubborn and obsessive kid, but his heart is in the right place” Emmet explained softly.

“So you had a sort of fall out with the main group too? sorry I don’t understand this concept of isolation but at the same time you still cooperate with the others, this doesn’t make sense, it sounds childish a bit” Richard remarked.

“People don’t always look eye to eye on things” Emmet sighed.

“But you sounded very positive about this leader James? seems like you’re running away from something too” Wesley frowned.

“James is a good leader and I have nothing against the guy, this idea of having another community made sense, we had to expand, James just preferred to keep people ‘under one roof‘ if you get me” Emmet grunted.

“Then why call it an “Outpost”, if you had plans on making it bigger?” Skylar asked firmly.

“Because we need people just like Glen Arbor needs people, for crying out loud we’re all on the same team!” Emmet snapped.

“So this is why you were out there trying to recruit people into building your own castle, but everything went against you, you lost your people in the woods and from here people wandered back to Glen Arbor, if you’d ask me this place is just not fit to call home” Wesley said firmly.

“Yeah I’m starting to see that.....but I’m not giving up on finding good people, survivors who are willing to hold on to life and try to rebuild what we’ve lost, hmmph I ain’t getting any younger and I lived my share in this world.....I just want to save what’s left of it” Emmet grunted remorsefully.

“You’re hoping we’ll decide to stay here, right?” Skylar asked bluntly.

“Of course, but I won’t have nothing against you all if you’d still want to go and stay at Glen Arbor, it’s the safer option and you guys been through a lot I can tell” Emmet smirked.

Wesley looked around at Skylar, Florence and Richard “We all want to see Glen Arbor first before making any drastic decisions pal, but we’ll stay for a few days and rest up” he smiled and nodded positively.

“Okay if that’s what you all......make yourselves comfortable in any of the houses it’s not like they belong to anyone” Emmet sighed painfully and exited the house.

“What is it Sky?” Wesley grunted noticing the vague look on her face.

“Nothing Dad, I just imagined this place to be a bit more organised that’s all” She sounded sceptical.

“Looks like they’re doing all right, that kid Nathaniel doesn’t look like much, but he and this girl managed to keep this place safe as it is, gotta give credit to them, we all could’ve died countless times on the road before ending up here...eh” Wesley sighed.

“But we didn’t and we won’t, if Glen Arbor has more people as Emmet says, then we could finally stop, moving” Skylar murmured.

“Always be prepared for the unknown love” Wesley smirked.

Florence looked around and noticed bags of food and tea in the kitchen “They’re pretty well stocked, it’s nice to see so much food for a change” she smiled gently.

“Maybe we should give them a hand with stuff around here, I’m gonna go hunt us some meat seeing that they only have canned food” Wesley chuckled.

    “Be careful Dad” Skylar gasped.
“You too love” Wesley grinned on the way out.

“Where are you heading off?!” Emmet called out casually.

    “Hunting” Wesley smiled.

“You can take watch with Mickie and Nathaniel, I got that part covered” Emmet nodded.

“You sure? I can go with you--” Wesley frowned.

“Nah you stick around here, start resting” Emmet replied awkwardly and rushed off.

“OK....roger that bud” Wesley muttered to himself while standing on the single road running through the small town. Mickie was on one side guarding and looking out, Nathaniel was on the other repairing what looked like a blockade of barb wire.

Both could use a bit more development, as I can recall neither doing anything particularly memorable. Though, for some reason Nathaniel left more of an impression on me, so I'd like to learn a bit more about Mickie. I'm neutral about this though, as I don't dislike either of them.

  • The next morning after a good and peaceful night sleep on a walker-free island, the crew was ready to head home for Glen Arbor with some positive news for a change. Duke was already down at the small pier with Austin getting their boat ready “Feels good going back home ey kid?” Duke muttered in a good mood.

“More than ever, finally we can get to see people.....people that we know and matter” Austin replied slightly ambiguously.

“What do you mean? don’t I matter?” Duke joked and chuckled.

“You know what I mean, you know I don’t trust people easily” Austin remarked.

“I get it buddy, but I think this island could bring a lot of good things for all of us back home” Duke nodded.

“Maybe, it’s good they’re only sending out that one guy with us, easier to have an eye on, forgot his name though” Austin mumbled.

“Anselm, yeah he seemed okay” Duke muttered.

“I still think you haven’t thought this through--” Valerian argued.

“I thought we finished discussing this last night, I’m going deal with it, we’re not together anymore you said it yourself! so there’s nothing keeping here” Anselm replied coldly before leaving the room and bumping awkwardly into Margareth on the way out.

She approached her son who was standing angrily with his hands folded “Dear you have to let him go, it’s hmm.... it’s hard I know....give it some time” Margareth tried to cheer him up.

“He’s not coming back” Valerian muttered tensely.

“Don’t say that, anything can happen” Margareth sighed.

“You know, I really thought things would work out here, away from those monsters roaming our country and yet some of us still seek something from the main land” Valerian grunted.

“Isolation is as good as death I once heard, no matter how much we try to run we still need to look at the bigger picture, maybe this island isn’t much of a solution after all Dear” Margareth sighed painfully.

“What’s the alternative? we’re safe here.......I was stupid to end things with him” Valerian sighed angrily.

“Give it time, when he comes back, things might change” Margareth hugged him softly.

Down by the pier snow was sprinkling as Quirk bid farewell “Look after yourself buddy and don’t forget to bring back some coffee” he joked and shook Anselm’s hand “Will do, take care of everything here, I’ll try to come back as soon as I can” He reassured the old man.

After a while out on the water, the air turned foggy and the sky grey making it hard for Duke to see around while steering.

“Ha gottcha I win!” Brent gasped while playing cards with Austin.

“This game is a load of--” Austin remarked slightly upset.

“It’s Brent’s favorite game you’re never gonna win” Willy chuckled softly.

“Man, I can’t wait to get home, it’s been so long....” Brent remarked optimistically.

“Hey Willy you wanna play a round? I’m gonna go above deck” Austin remarked.

“Yeah maybe this time I’ll be lucky” Willy smirked softly.

“So what made you want to be a firefighter before the world went to hell?” Austin heard James chatting to Anselm outside.

“I always wanted to be a part of something, a team solving problems for the town...I lived in Silver Cliff by the way. Whether it was fire or flood, hazardous material spill, or medical emergency, anything you name it......it feels good.....felt good to know that people can rely on the fire department to help solve their problems.” Anselm said softly.

“Looks like they’re getting along” Austin grunted after walking up to Duke.

“Yeah.....he’s one strong fella I’m sure he can crack a few heads in, we’re gonna need a whole bunch of people like him to keep our home safe” Duke replied thoughtfully.

Duke had this strange feeling that it’s going to be a rough passage home. He gazed out at the slothful sea and wondered the water was too placid for this hazy sky. As fas as he could tell some sort of danger lay ahead. The boat softly rolled from side to side and the temperature plummeted. The fog obscured their vision, but Duke had his fair share of time on open water to navigate back home. Austin churned worriedly at the gloomy morning sky, while James and Anselm casually continued to chatter. The occasional sleet moved towards them keeping the chilling ambient of the unknown that awaits them on a daily basis.

“How are you holding up?” Duke murmured.

“I just want to get home” Austin shivered.

    “Yeah.....me too buddy” Duke grunted.

“Hey you guys see that?” James called out.

    “Where?!” Duke spoke out.

James pointed at a stranded rowing boat to their right flank.

“We shouldn’t divert off course!” Duke muttered.

James grabbed a pair of binoculars and could barely see someone on board “There’s someone on it!” he gasped.

“Is it moving?!” Duke yelled out.

“Don’t know.....not sure” James nodded sideways straining his vision.

“You think we ought to check it out?” Austin remarked indifferently.

“That’s not a good idea Austin, it could be anyone on that boat” Duke objected.

“We were ‘anyone‘ and there was five of us, we turned out to be alright, maybe that someone really needs are help, won’t hurt us to check it out the least!” Anselm interjected firmly.

“For all due respect but you have no saying it what we will or won’t do, you got it?!” Duke said harshly.

Anselm got up and was heading towards Duke “There’s no need for this!” James intervened by going in between them to avoid any unnecessary problems. Duke and Anselm looked an each other for a fierce moment “What do you suggest we do James?” Duke clenched his teeth and faced him.

It is one person, while they are six. I can't recall if they are armed, but I highly suspect it, because nowadays everyone is armed. That means, they have a huge advantage over that one person on the rowing boat. It could be a friend, someone who needs help and it does not sound too dangerous to check, so they absolutely should give it a chance.

  • Marcin glanced briefly at Zara who was nodding sideways begging for him not to answer Konni’s question “She mentioned about some other people waiting for her”

“Okay........who?” Konni seemed surprised with his cooperation.

“Some woman, she didn’t say anything more” Marcin said hesitantly.

“But?!--” Zara yelped before Konni landed a punch in her stomach.

“Shut up bitch, you’ve been screwing with us far too long, Brian take her outside the wall....and kill her” Konni ordered firmly.

“Yes Konni, with pleasure” Bryan gasped nervously.

“Don’t think twice, just get it done” Konni tugged his arm.

“I got this Konni, I won’t fail you this time” Bryan assured her.

“You don’t understand, I-I didn’t kill your people! please listen to me!” Zara pleaded while Brian dragged her away.

“That felt a bit easy don’t you think pretty boy?” Konni stood in a slightly tempting pose in front of Marcin.

“Spare me these games you’re trying to pull and say what you want!” Marcin said toughly.

“Oh and I was starting to like you, well I still do, don’t make me change my mind--” Konni chuckled.

Suddenly the sound of crutches by stairs made her pause “What is it Ethan?” Gareth asked with concern. After a brief moment of talking discreetly Gareth nodded for Konni to come over.

“Don’t you go anywhere” She smirked and walked away.

“Why did you tell her?! now she’s gonna torture us just for fun” Stan hissed angrily towards Marcin.

“I wasn’t going to lie, we barely knew her” Marcin whispered.

“Well I don’t see them letting us go just like that, we got to find a way to get out of these bloody cords” Sergio said rather calmly and squirmed his hands.

“She looked to be telling the truth! I can’t believe you just sold her out like that Marcin!” Stan hissed.

“Will you two just shut up for sec?” Sergio tried to overhear the concerned discussion between Gareth, Konni and Ethan.

    “Nothing’s working” Ethan murmured.

“Her condition is getting worse we’re running out of time” Gareth persisted.

“Then it can’t be just a bug, is she still throwing up?” Konni asked discreetly.

“I’m a doctor, maybe I can be of some help!” Sergio called out softly.

“What are you doin?!” Marcin hissed urgently at Sergio.

The three looked towards him and after a short moment Konni approached the captives “Are you a REAL doctor? because if you’re only saying that just to escape I will put a bullet in that skull of yours” Konni warned him.

“I was a surgeon when life was still relatively normal, if you don’t want my help then fine....but from what I’m hearing someone you care about is in pain” Sergio replied slightly sarcastically.

Ethan limped over urgently “He might know what’s wrong with her!” the young lad urged Konni. He heavily resembled Gareth which only meant they had to be brothers, Ethan had to be younger and also gave the impression that he was friendlier than his older brother. Both had blonde hair but Ethan’s wasn’t curly yet heddle. The twenty-something boy was missing a leg below the knee and stood 5,7 feet tall, wearing a long warm black leather jacket with a visible green t-shirt underneath and light-blue trousers with black trainers.

“Just try something” Konni threatened him while untying. Gareth pointed his rifle at him and ordered to move.

Meanwhile a few miles outside the small town Zara toddled slowly until Brian told her to halt and cocked his pistol to execute her. “Any last words? kinda always wanted to say that....well maybe not exactly but--” Brian stuttered anxiously.

“Fuck you, fuck all of you” Zara sighed painfully.

“Did you really do it? I’m going to shoot you either way, it’s....just nice to know that’s all” Brian queried awkwardly. The nearby squelching of walkers made him unease.

“You’ll never know, looks like you better hurry because death might just get you first” Zara chuckled softly at the sight of a walker heading towards them. Brian chooses to play it safe and neutralize the threat before getting rid of Zara. “Stupid monsters” he mumbled and turned around to see Zara trying to get away. Bullets kept flying as Zara dodged them among the trees making Brian even more frustrated, a number of walkers reacted to the noise and started heading into their direction. Zara used the walkers as a distraction risking to run close to them as Brian pursed her. “Can’t believe that just happened SHIT.....SHIT!!” he growled in anger at the whole sequence of events. He lost sight of Zara, although she was close by hidden under a log trying to free her hands tied to her back. A walker noticed Zara and started to head her way with arms stretching out. Brian was still scanning the area while taking out any walkers that stumbled upon him. Zara desperately rubbed her hands against the log in hope of snapping off the zipties. The lurker was getting to close she reacted by kicking its kneecap causing the rotten corpse to fall and roll over. Density of the undead was getting higher which put Brian in a state of panic, Zara managed to free herself and calmly scanned the area for a way out. In regret Brian was forced to pull back by the herd leading them straight back to camp.

“I told you what we know, so let us go” Marcin urged.

“They didn’t do it?” Ethan whispered to Konni worriedly.

“I dunno, doesn’t seem like they did Eth” Konni replied softly.

“I saw Brian take Zara outside the wall, did she kill Leandra and Joseph?” Ethan asked calmly.
“I’m pretty sure she did” Konni nodded.

“Take your time” Stan mumbled cynically.

“Look.....I will let you go, once your friend Sergio helps us out” Konni replied contemplatively, her tough demeanor leveled down as she was distracted by the thought of one of her people.

“Promises.....promises stop pretending just say you’re going to kill us and get on with it!” Stan snapped sarcastically.

“One more word and I’ll shove this knife up your throat!” Konni pulled out her blade and threaten him closely.

“Go on, closer” Stan provoked toughly with a smug look on his face.

“As she approached him, Stan gently cracked his thumb in order to free his hands and instantly headbutts Konni almost breaking her nose and taking her as a human shield with the blade held to her throat. Ethan hectically attempted to pull out his pistol but falls to the ground dropping the 9mm gun at Marcin’s feet.

    “You’re both dead--” Konni muttered.

“Shut up we didn’t do anything, get up kid and release my friend” Stan ordered.

“What are you doing Stanislaw?! we can’t leave without Sergio!” Marcin argued.

“We might have to leave Sergio, hurry up boy!” Stan said frantically.

The boy crawled desperately towards his crutches and tried to stand up.

“Try anything stupid and I’ll kill her” Stan warned Ethan as he saw the boy pull out a pocketknife and was about to cut Marcin free.

Marcin reluctantly picked up the pistol “I don’t think this is right Stan, let her go” he suggested.

“You’re fucking crazy she our ticket out of here, c’mon!” Stan gasped and pulled Konni up the stairs.

“Please don’t kill her” Ethan said softly even slightly pleadingly as he sat on the chair and looked up helplessly at Marcin.

    [Go along with Stan’s escape]

God damn it, Stan! Everything was fine until he just snapped. This is not going to end well. That said, I start to get a different vibe from Konni now. She seemed reasonable at first and if they would have played along then she may have continued to be reasonable, but her starting to threaten them gave me a bad feeling that she might be a completely unhinged psychopath underneath a somewhat affable mask. I don't want to leave Sergio behind, but he is a real doctor, so he is too valuable for Konni to just kill him. Marcin on the other hand is not valuable to her, so there is nothing that would protect him from her wrath if he stays. There is also this sentence:

    “You’re both dead--” Konni muttered.

I guess Konni is going to kill him if he stays, because for me it seems she made her intentions pretty clear. Stan did a major fuck-up here and if Marcin stays, it is likely that Konni, who sounds more and more like a psychopath, ends up killing him.

This was not cool of Stan and I am sure this will get good people killed. But Liquid pointed out that Konni wants to kill them both. Sergio is too useful so I think she will just imprison him but Marcin has no use to her and he needs to escape now.

  • Wesley decided to help out Nathaniel with the barricade “Need a hand there mate?” he smiled.

“Sure, pull the wire to that side and hang it around, the walkers get tangled around them making it easier to kill them with a melee weapon” Nathaniel said confidently.
“That’s a neat idea, but we’re gonna need a whole lot more of these” Wesley suggested.

“We always need a helluva lot of things, guns, food, people, it never ends, but I gotta try right?” Nathaniel said rhetorically.

“So there’s no way for you to go back....to Glen Arbor I mean? maybe this isn’t the time for this whole ‘expansion’ plan” Wesley asked hesitantly.

“No disrespect, but I don’t need another lecture I always try to make decisions for myself ever since the first day when I arrived home from school and found my sister killing my parents....this plague forced me to kill my own sister....eh....I thought I could count on other people, that worked for a while, but eventually people stop listening to you” Nathaniel choked.

“I’m sorry for what happened to your family, I can’t even imagine how painful that must’ve been” Wesley sighed.

“Pain and loneliness come hand in hand, being among people you hardly know and stick out as long as possible doesn’t really change that feeling, not as much as I thought, we’re all still strangers” Nathaniel muttered.

“That’s quite grim mate, still I find it hard to believe everyone is going through hell right now and being alone doesn’t help, c’mon I’m sure you had friends in that group” Wesley frowned.

“Fred was kinda my only friend, always had my back, but sometimes we didn’t see eye to eye on how things should be you know.....eh look I appreciate the talk but I can handle things here” Nathaniel grunted.

“Right-o, better get back inside it’s getting colder I er....I’ll be on lookout” Wesley muttered while the wind started to howl fiercely.

About an hour later Emmet got back and was headed for his quarters “Oi mate! I think I saw someone by the trees!” Wesley remarked while looking through the binoculars.

“Are you sure? how can you even see anything out there” Emmet cocked an eyebrow as he was about to enter home.

“It’s been the third time, I know what I saw, someone’s sneaking around this place!” Wesley called out standing on the extended platform by the fence.

“In this weather?! But I just got back I didn’t see anything out there” Emmet remarked indifferently.

“I’m telling you something ain’t right, we oughta check it out” Wesley grunted.

“I gotta get back on fixing that radio, do you really want me to go to check it out?” Emmet asked casually.

    [Send Emmet alone to inspect]

[Leave your post and check it out yourself]

    [Go with Emmet to inspect]

“We should check it out” James nodded.

Duke chuckled stiffly before saying “Fine” and cautiously getting them all towards the rowing boat.

“Hello, you alright there? Sir!” James called out.

“He ain’t moving” Austin muttered while having his pistol wielded.

The figure sluggishly lifted it’s head and growled at them with hands arms reaching out to them. “Well, shit another dead one” Duke muttered indifferently.

“Wait! it looks to be tied to the boat” James said anxiously.

Anselm pulled out his axe from the backpack and ended the walker with a clean blow to the head “Someone was pissed off” Duke mumbled.

“Who would tie him like this? Anselm check if he has anything on him?” James pondered.

“No weapons, no food....eh he still kept his wallet though” Anselm remarked.

    “Anything of interest?” James asked.

“Who cares? Lets get the hell outta here” Duke persisted.

“He was shot” Anselm said while further checking his jacket.

Through the fog a dim yellow light was blinking that caught their attention “Could that be a lighthouse?” Austin asked distressingly.

“That ain’t a lighthouse it’s another boat! I ain’t stick around for them” Duke gasped and urgently turned off the lights.

“They already see us, what if they open fire?” Anselm remarked.

“It’ll be much harder for them to kill us if we just fucking leave.....start you piece of fucking shit!” Duke shouted angrily desperately trying to turn the engine back on.

“Howdy there strangers!” a hoarse voice went through a loudspeaker.

“Austin get down!” Duke urged him.

Anselm, James and Austin wielded their pistols.

    “Duke.... Marcin gasped.

[“Just get us out of here” - escape]

[“Stay down we might need an element of surprise” - neutral]

[‘Get your rifle this might get hairy” - attack]

  • [Go with Emmet to inspect]

Honestly, I'd prefer if both of them could stay back, because going sounds too dangerous for both of them. But Wesley seems to be so determined to see if he was right. I don't think it is fair of him to send Emmet all alone, so he should go with them. There's safety in numbers. If he is right, then the person that is sneaking around their camp is either very cautious, or hostile and maybe, just maybe, it will even turn out for the best to check it out.

[“Just get us out of here” - escape]

Alright, the way I see things is, they have already been spotted, judging by the hoarse voice through the loudspeaker. There won't be an element of surprise. Also, the boat these strangers have seems to be larger, considering that Austin mistook it for a lighthouse. It is therefore not too far fetched to assume that the strangers have larger numbers of are better armed, or perhaps even both. Attacking them seems not only futile, but it would also be a horrible mistake if it later turns out that these strangers would have been friendly if not for our group to attack them first. Therefore, I see escaping as the most rational choice. I don't think they have a chance in a fight, so they have to hope that they manage to get away. If these strangers are friendly, then they will let them escape, but if they aren't friendly, then everything is already too late either way.
