Will TWDG Ever Get As Dark As the Comics?
We've had the classic staples of most zombie stories. We've had sacrifice, cannibalism, hope, betrayal, suicide, murder and much more. Some of the darkest moments for me include Mark's fate, Ben's explanation of the infection, the meat locker, Ben's episode 5 death, Sam's death, Clementine mending her bite, and the S2 E3 horde. But considering what the comics has to offer, it's treading lightly. The closest Telltale came was the implications of rape regarding Ben's group in Episode 2, but that was dropped from the episode.
The comics had countless moments that made me squeamish and reluctant to look on. Like Michonne's torture of the Governor. I mean, a spoon!? And what I believe is the darkest moment of all, Jessie's and Ron's deaths in the Alexandria safezone. There's so many horrible moments, it's hard to list them.
But do you think Telltale would ever take things that far? And I'm not just saying "what if there was a rape scene". I'm talking about the gore and violence and the way no child or infant is safe in the comics. I've seen like what, four violent deaths to a child in those comics? What do you think? Would it lose it's fanbase? Could it even be released with such scenes?
Comments
Of course it could be released with these scenes, but there would be quite a lot of controversy. Nevertheless, I hope it gets as dark as the comics, and I feel like that's the way it's heading.
What implications were there about Ben's group regarding rape? I don't recall anything about that.
Honestly, I hope not. I can take a lot, and I respect the comics for inspiring the Game and the Show, but they have moments that are just violent and gory for the sake of being violent and gory.
I think it was unused audio.
Oh no! A rape scene? To Clementine?! I can't recover myself from that. I... I can't... handle that.
This! I'm more than satisfied with how Telltale is doing right now. It worked in the comics the first few times, but after a while you already expect that guy is gonna receive quite a nasty end. For example I wasn't really satisfied with the way they handled Carver, but his brutal death left me quite surprised.
Yeah. It was unused audio of Ben saying that the Bandits raped his group's women, and forced the others to watch
who said it was to Clem?
Rape in general would be sickening. That's just too dark.
I mean that topic about ''Will TWDG Ever Get As Dark As the Comics?'' Carl already raped in comics. (At least that's what I heard.) I don't want that to happen to Clementine. I hope Telltale won't go that far. Even thinking about that just... awful and horrible.
When was Carl raped?
Exactly! I mean in real life even the little children get raped by some maniac son of a Ben! I would've smash their skull if I get my hands on those sick bastards!
I think they said to me that issue 57 or something. But I'm not sure. I'm sorry about my idotic reply.
Right when I heard about that audio, it made me cringe just thinking about it.
He almost got raped, Rick saved him thankfully.
He doesn't get raped.its attempted though, but rick kills the guy who tries to do that.
Does anyone have a link to somewhere I can listen to Ben talk about the whole bandits raping the girls thing? I've always heard about it, but never actually listened to it.
I think this one?
link
Nothing in that one, but he mentions something about it in part 9. He says how they kidnapped a girl and how he wish they had just killed her. Those bandits were monsters.
Why do they imply things rather than being direct with them? Just wondering.
Brace yourself, Cluke is coming!
Because if they didn't the media would be like "VIDEO GAMES ARE POISONING OUR YOUTH!!!!! THERE ARE LIKE, EXPLICIT SEX SCENES WITH FULL PENETRATION AND NEEDLESS VIOLENCE!!! ALL OF THE SHOOTINGS ARE BECAUSE OF VIDEO GAMES!!!!" I got the whole penetration thing from a FOX news thing on Mass Effect. They never showed any penetration in Mass Effect though, so they lied. They also said it was marketed towards kids if I recall.
Sorry about that, at least you found it.
It's fine. I still wouldn't have found it without you
.
And brutally too.
Cool![:) :)](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I feel that implying something is worse than being direct about it. Because it leaves you wondering what happened or assuming the worst. Also, what Spooch said.
Maybe not while we play as an 11-year old Clementine.
carl is younger than clem and he has seen some pretty dark shit age doesn't matter in the apocalypse obviously it won't be like someone attempts to rape her cause telltale knows how we all would react to that but she can still witness some really dark stuff
Haven't read the comics but it doesn't seem that bad, just that fuckup Negan and his fucking bat.
so michonne getting raped countless times isn't that bad? so the governor getting his dick nailed to a wooden board and his eye scooped out with a spoon isn't that bad? and ben and billy's deaths (lizzie and mika in the tv show) they are alot more darker than their tv show counter part and there are countless more moments that are just as dark if you watch the tv show don't base anything off of it cause everything in the tv show is toned down from the comics
man im seeing a lot of this parts and they are kinda cool. damn all tht pressure they put in their voices.
also Hershel's othedr kids where they first find out that theres a serial killer like fucker in the prison, he cuts off the kids head off
I heard the comics were bad, but... damn.
Something tells me if someone tried to rape Clementine it would end like this......http://youtu.be/3tR-TpmYjXM After seeing what Clem can do I believe the rapist would meet a gruesome end if he tried to rape Clem
As least Clementine didn't lose half of her face like Carl did
It would ruin the game for me but I can respect it if its trying to be realistic. In real life, there would be a lot of rape, because that's how its been in history and of course now in many situations. I think video games are a type of escapism. I don't feel like I am escaping the realities of life if they include realistic elements in it. I'm not saying I can't handle mature themes, but if I can think of real life events whilst playing a game, I'm not going to be a fan of it. Its their game anyway. They can do what they want, I just hope they don't get too gritty.
No, Robert let's himself get really, REALLY dark at times, while the game's also really depressing, it never got as depressing as the comics.
He wasn't raped, Rick slaughtered the 3 men that tried to rape Carl.
There is rape in TWD S1. It's heavily implied in Ep 2 that Jolene's daughter was... raped and killed by the bandits.
"JAKE, BART, LINDA, and ALL YA'LL FUCKIN' SICKOS FROM THE SAVE-LOTS! THEY CALL YA'LL BANDITS! BUT YOU'RE FUCKING RAPIST MONSTERS--"
—Jolene shouting at the Save-Lots Bandits
