The best theory I can come up with:
When Clem shoots, the gun quickly moves to one side. It's possible that Clem changed her mind at the … morelast second and diverted the shot, missing Lee entirely.
Now, if cutting off Lee's arm did stop the infection and Lee simply passed out from bloodloss, it's possible someone discovered him and carried him to safety. It's unlikely he could have recovered there by himself without intervention.
It's an extreme long shot but it's plausible.

Lee's death was the greatest plot point of the entire two games so far. Bringing him back would completely ruin it. He got a second chance… more at a free life and used it saving Clementine, that would mean nothing if he was still alive.
Not to mention it's ridiculous to think he survived. He was bit and it was clearly effecting him. There has yet to be anyone shown to have immunity and clearly Lee didn't have immunity to the virus anyways.
So, in terms of reasoning for the writers to bring him back AND logical explanations, you're out of luck.

What would have been really cool if they used flash backs like in the comics and the TV show to include scenes when Lee was still alive that we didn't see in season one that enabled us to see little Clem and Lee interacting. It would be like the technique used in TLOU dlc when Ellie has flashbacks of her time with Riley when she is reminded of them by events in the present time. That is really the only way Lee could be shown again in the game without effecting the plot.

I don't mind that Lee is dead. But the fact that he is dead made it harder to sequalize, IMO. I think it's because of Clementine's changed role from NPC to player character sort of changed the narrative and symbolism around her. It probably could have been pulled off but it hasn't yet.

When Lee got bitten if you didn't cut his arm he starts having black outs and dies anyway but if you cut of his arm he doesn't have any black outs, so this means that the arm was cut in time, in the final scene Lee was very tired but he wasn't sweating of the fewer so this means he wasn't dying by the infection, maybe he was dying from blood loss, anyways in the end if you shoot him just before the shot Clementine turns the gun so that means maybe she didn't kill him or if you don't shoot him you see that he died BUT maybe he didn't die, maybe he just slept because he wasn't dying from the infection, he was tired but not dying, so there's what I think: Lee slept, got rested and survived and he could return one day, maybe not in episode 3 or 4, maybe… [view original content]

On My game save file 2, I chose not to Handcuff him and not to shoot him just to see if he shows up as a walker in Se2Ep5
