Character Creation?

Season 3 should have a character creation. What made season 1 so good for me is that I felt like Lee was me. The decisions i made were the decisions I would do myself in that situation. But when I play Clem, I feel like I'm playing how she was developed in season 1. I just hate playing Clem. She's such a boring character. Lee felt like a bad ass to me. And I'm a bad ass hahaha jk.

But being able to choose your gender, your voice, race, certain skill/expertise. It just makes me closer to the game which is what I'm missing from season 2.

Do you guys think it's a good idea?

  • Create a charcacter wouldn't work ina game like this. I do agree about changing the playable character from clem though. She really dosnt work and I preferred seeing her develop on her own as an NPC.

  • I would really love for this to happen. Just not sure how they can implement it. My best guess is something like dragon age where you pick a basic start of the story. Something like teacher prisoner and so one then it goes to main plot that is the same for everyone.

  • I didn't enjoy playing as Clementine and want an adult protagonist for season 3, but I think create your own character would not work great in a Telltale game.

People would never adress you by your name unless voice actors record every possible first name... You would get to choose your gender, and it means twice the work in voice acting (he/she), also all situations can't be gender neutral.

  • i know just wishful thinking

  • It's not Clem that doesn't work, it's just TTG's approach.

  • Partly.

But there are also inherent problems to a child protagonist in a ZA situation.

  • That wouldn't work in a game like the ones Telltale produce. What they need to do is have a new playable character that makes you actually feel like you are them, sort of like Lee. In s1 I kept thinking "wow, they really sucked for me", whereas in s2, I keep saying "wow they really sucked for Clementine"

  • Lets be honest, if you give the children of today character customisation, you'll get a lot of protagonists with big breasticles.

While I may love games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, I wouldn't want something like their character creation used for Walking Dead.

Lee, Clementine, and Bigby aren't just blank slates, they have personality. We can shape their morality and dialogue, but they still have a pre-established depth to their characterization and overall story arc, and while I think that there are definitely some choices that feel out of character for someone like Clementine, I don't want to completely drop the strengths that having a definitive protagonist has.

  • Jane would work as a playable character, I know its unlikely but it is true, at first we saw the silent/loner side of her, then we saw the survivalist side of her, then we saw the sweet and caring side of her, and then we saw the thug/bandit side of her. Any way the player would choose to play Jane could easily make sense.

  • Oh gosh... just before, threads were about Clementine needing to playable in Season 3... now it's the opposite... again... sigh...

  • I do agree about changing the playable character from clem though. She really dosnt work and I preferred seeing her develop on her own as an NPC.

I think then she could actually act like a little girl.

  • Why not?
