So, here are the alternative choices for Act 1, Chapter 1 and 2. Naturally, most of these choices have consequences for the whole book, so I'll only tell you the things that would have happened until now, if you had picked the other choices. At the end of Book 1, there will be a second overview with the long-term consequences of your actions. I will write the alternative choices for Chapter 3 right now and will likely finish them in about two hours.

    Alternative Choices: Chapter I

    Lucas I:

    [Talk to the gatekeeper]

Lucas would have talked to the gatekeeper, who would have told him some hints about Dairon's route, but nothing of real importance. He wouldn't have encountered Leonard in that case and wouldn't have learned about the last will, leaving him with a much better opinion on Harris. The gatekeeper would have been a recurring character in Book 1, but was ultimately dropped when Nora Recton was submitted. His intended role will now be given mostly to her.

    [Talk to the servants]

This option would have given Jenna a speaking role in Chapter 1. Lucas would have questioned her, but wouldn't have learned anything of importance. He would have encountered Leonard after talking to Jenna. Leonard would have teased him about trying to impress the servants and the two would have gotten into an argument. Just like in the option above, he wouldn't have learned about the will, but he would have had the option of taking Leonard with him

[Travel South immediately and try to follow Dairons trail]

Lucas would have travelled directly after Dairon and wouldn't have encountered Leonard or learned about the will in that case. His Chapter 1 storyline would have been a lot shorter in that case.

    Torvin I:

[Stay with Garthon in the Great Hall]

Torvin would have stayed in the Great Hall, seeing more of Harren Hoare's 'justice'. There would have been an alternative storyline for him in his early chapters in which he would have been able to win the trust of Harren Hoare. Ultimately there would have been a second chance of joining Lord Tully.

    Lyria I:

    [Decline the offer]

This option would have been a minor problem for one of Clayton's plans, since he needs the Hoare dagger. Wolfius would have been quite furious about this. While right now he has an obsession with Rosalie, this would have switched to an obsession with Lyria in that case. Lyria would have been stalked by him over the course of Act 1.

    Lucas II:

[Decline: Continue investigating the chamber] [Decline: Question the gatekeeper]
[Decline: Question the servants] [Decline: Travel South in search for Dairon]

These options would have lead to the same outcomes as above, with the added bonus that Lucas now knows Leonard who would have offered to accompany him. If he had continued to investigate the chamber, he wouldn't have found anything of importance. He wouldn't have learned about the will, leaving him with a far higher opinion on Harris.

[Accept: Leonard should go in, Lucas should be on the lookout]

Lucas would have been on lookout. Leonard would have found the will but would have used it to bribe Lucas into teaming up with him in the search for Dairon.

    Marak I:

    [Take the gold]

While this option wouldn't have been as interesting, it would have been better for Marak's mental health. He wouldn't have had the vision and would have been a bit more light-hearted around Noelle. Naturally, I loved writing that vision, so I'm quite glad about the other option winning

    Jaron I:

[Finish your meal and look for work elsewhere]

Jaron would have found work elsewhere indeed: He would have ended up working for Maron Mullendore and would have hunted the Burned Man and Butterfly. Naturally, this option would have changed his whole storyline tremendously. The Burned Man wouldn't have been pleased, to say the least.

    Torvin II:

    [Back out]

Torvin would have another chance to win Harren Hoare's trust, but with the knowledge that Lord Tully tries to work against the king. He would have had the option to tell the king about Tully's planned treachery, to which Harren would have been as thankful as he can be.

    Lucas III:

    [Let Leonard stay in Raylansfair]

Well, Leonard would have stayed in Raylansfair, obviously. This would have lead to an easier chapter 2 for Lucas, but a much harder Chapter 3. Leonard's screentime would have been drastically reduced, but he would have been a supporting character in Jenna's storyline, as well as a potential ally. His opinion about Harris would have worsened after the death of Ser Ilhan. Finally, he would have been present in the Chapter 3 finale and would have also prevented Lady Halla's death, seriously wounding poor Kersea in the process, but getting nearly killed by Wolfius in return.

    Jaron II:

[Refuse to work with the Burned Man]

Jaron would have left the building, after getting a stern, but honest warning from Harpy about avoiding Butterfly and his men. However, Butterfly had already sent his men after Jaron and would have attacked him regardless. The main difference would be starting with Chapter 3, in which Jaron would have been either taken to Butterfly, or would have encountered Maron Mullendore, further influencing his future storyline.

    Lyria II:

    [Tell Richard about Wolfius]

Richard would recognize Wolfius from Lyria's description and would be far more careful around him. He wouldn't have said his name in Wolfius' presence, leading to Wolfius giving him a mocking name. The attack on Jenna would have been far less personal for Wolfius.

So far for the Chapter 1 alternative choices! I'll start giving you the Chapter 2 alternative choices now:

    Alternative Choices: Chapter II

    Ellena I:

[Stay with Talea aboard the Pale Princess]

Ellena would have had a completely different chapter. She wouldn't have bonded with Terroma that much, but instead Talea would have become closer to her. There would be a glimpse of Abbas and Bakr, who would have encountered Ellena and Talea. Ellena and Bakr would have gotten along well, while she and Abbas would have had mutual disgust for each other. Terroma would have saved Jaron regardless, since the only reason why he was reluctant to intervene in the alleyway was out of concern for Ellena's safety.

    Torvin I:

    [Make Garthon stay in Harrenhal]

Torvin and Garthon would have had a huge disagreement over this, leading to Garthon getting extremely angry at his brother. Torvin would have met Lord Tully alone and would have ended up travelling to Maidenpool with George, leaving Gabin to deal with Harlan Hoare on his own. Garthon wouldn't have become a PoV in that case, but Gabin would have been a PoV instead.

    Willfred I:

[Agree to spar with Lucion after the war meeting]

This would have had major influence over the way Willfred and Lucion see each other. Lucion would have won the duel, but would have had respect for Willfred as a warrior, treating him far nicer, while Willfred would be angry at himself for loosing the duel. He would have acted a bit more reckless in future chapters.

    Lucas I:

    [Sit with Leonard]

Lucas would have bonded with Leonard a bit more, learning a bit more about his backstory, but he wouldn't have caught up with his mercenary friends. Ultimately, the fight between Temari and Leonard would have happened regardless.

    Willfred II:

[Decide to travel directly to Raylansfair]

So far there would have been only minor dialogue changes, however if that option would have won, Willfred would arrive in Raylansfair at the beginning of Act 2, further influencing the storyline there.

    Jaron I

    [Attack the tall man]

Jaron would have attacked the tall man, but would have failed to wound him. The small man would have used this chance to stab Jaron in the back, wounding him far more than the tall man did.

    Ellena II:

[Listen to Terromas advice and do nothing]

Well, Jaron would have died and Ellena wouldn't have been in trouble with Butterfly. However, I was pretty sure that this option wouldn't win and was pretty glad that this option indeed wasn't the winning option. I like Jaron's planned storyline and his death would have been very unfortunate. However, this made things a lot more dangerous for Ellena, naturally. She would have travelled to Raylansfair instead of her run-in with Samuel and Jaylon.

    Maya I:

[Travel through the Mountains of the Moon]

I can't look into the future. Lord Royce on the other hand... well... it's at least a quite likely possibility that he can do it. He would have sent Irving to meet up with Maya and Gregar somewhere on the way. Maya's Chapter 3 storyline would have changed, naturally. She, Gregar and Irving would have encountered the Mountain Men, where especially Gregar would have proven to be a useful ally. Ser Aldrik wouldn't have been encountered for a long time in that case, but the three would have met up with another character.

    Richard I:

    [Watch the scene]

Ilish would have been able to throw Wolfius out on her own, breaking his nose in the process, which would have lead to her becoming one of his prime targets. Richard wouldn't have spoken to Wolfius, but would have later encountered him in the alleyway, leading to the choice of his second part.

    Torvin II:

    [Travel with George to Maidenpool]

The roles of Torvin and Garthon would have been reversed. Torvin would have gotten along quite well with George, while Garthon and Gabin have some things in common. Garthon would have been far better in the dungeons, as he could have effortlessly charmed the prisoner into releasing Harlan.

    Lucas II:

    [Restrain Leonard]

Lucas would have restrained Leonard, leading to Temari brutally beating the knight up. This would have significantly strained their friendship. Temari wouldn't have learned a lesson about the importance of armour, leading to him getting wounded more severe in the next chapter.

    [Restrain Temari]

Leonard would have calmed down enough to call off the fight. He would have thanked Lucas for supporting him. Temari would have been very angry at Lucas though. Like in the other option, he wouldn't have learned his lesson and would have ended up getting seriously wounded in Chapter 3

[Get between them and try to restrain them both]

Lucas would have tried to calm both of them down, resulting in him getting a heavy punch from Temari, sending him to the ground and injuring him. The fight would have proceeded normally, Leonard would have won, but would have mocked Lucas for getting injured. Temari would have apologized later.

    Jenna I:

    [Get back to work]

Jenna wouldn't have listened to the conversation and the fight between Harris and Ilhan. The two men would have fought regardless, but Harris wouldn't have been able to surprise Ilhan, resulting in him getting heavily wounded. He would have succeeded in killing Ilhan though. However, the whole thing would have been far more ambiguous and Harris would have claimed that Ilhan attacked him first. Jenna wouldn't have believed him, but many others, including Septon Corbin and maybe even you as readers, would have trusted Harris' version of the story

    Richard II:

    [Call for help]

Richard would have called for help, leading in an early introduction of the guardsmen Arthur Nathamer. They would have chased after the killer, but would have lost his trail. There would have been a choice of telling Arthur about Richard's suspicion against Wolfius. Richard wouldn't have been attacked by Clayton and his assassins, leading to a drastically different chapter 3 for him.

    Lucas III:

    [Leave her at the inn]

Lunett would have been left behind at would be devastated about this. John wouldn't have gotten into trouble with Aylard and Samantha because of this. In the fight against Bear, Lunett would have accompanied Aylard and the rest of his family when they were escorted to safety by either Temari or Samantha. Aylard and John would have had a far better relationship and John's storyline in Chapter 3 would have been a part shorter.

    Willfred III:

    [Two-Face should accompany you]

So far there would have been only some minor changes. Two-Face would have fought in the battle against the Ironborn, as well as being a good friend to Willfred. His presence in Willfred's company would have given him a larger role in Book 1, but would have severely influenced the future Castamere storyline with his absence there.

  • edited April 2015

And as I promised, here are the alternative choices for Chapter 3, which is indeed longer than Chapter 1 and 2 combined.

    Alternative Choices: Chapter III

    Jenna I:

    [Lie to Septon Corbin]

Jenna would have told him that Ilhan attacked first, leading Septon Corbin to put his full support behind Harris. Whether or not he can be trusted remains to be seen, but at least in this option, Corbin would have become a Harris supporter.

    Maya I:

    [Give up both daggers]

This would have been a very bad option for Maya and the only option Ser Aldrik had not anticipated. She would have been unable to kill Lord Brune, albeit she would have been able to fight back against him. There would have been an option to punch him or to let it happen out of fear that he will do something to Gregar and Irving otherwise. Should Maya have decided to let the rape happen, Lord Brune would have backed out, instead taking her as a prisoner and revealing a marginally better side of himself.

    [Keep both daggers]

Ser Aldrik wouldn't have believed her for one second. However, since his true loyalties were with Lord Royce, he wouldn't have searched her, although his soldiers would have gotten a bit suspicious. Maya would have been able to stab Lord Brune with both daggers, effectively overkilling him.

    Marak I:

[Try to be polite] [Try to be friendly] [Be yourself]

This would have been mainly a dialogue change, since Ser Darren is very good at seeing through lies, especially from a bad liar such as Marak. Marak would have failed horribly to be polite, albeit he would have had some results with being friendly and being himself. Ultimately, it would have lead to the same conversation in his next part.

    Willfred I:

    [Stay back with General Tallian]

Willfred would have watched the battle from afar, which would have lead to Tallian having a better opinion about him. However, you remember the throwing axe that killed Willfred's horse? The same throwing axe would have hit Lord Crakehall in the upper leg, causing a dangerous wound that would have eventually festered and lead to an offscreen death later in the Book. He would have been replaced by his son in later Lord Crakehall appearances. Obviously, Willfred wouldn't have wounded his back if he had stayed behind.

    Lyria I:

    [Stay silent, as Wolfius requested]

Obviously, the city guard wouldn't have been introduced in this chapter. Lyria would have stayed behind, leading to a different chapter in which she would have talked to her daughter and Richard's friend Phillip. The same scene will now take place in the coming chapter.

    Torvin I:

[Accompany Harmund and Harlan into the Riverlands]

Torvin would have a slightly shorter storyline in which he would have backed out from torturing. He would have talked to Gabin for a while and later would have met up with Harmund Hoare, who would have proven to be slightly worse than all of his brothers combined.

    John I:

[Allow her to go after Lucas]

Obviously, Samantha would be gone immediately. She wouldn't have arrived in Oldtown fast enough to influence Lucas' parts in this chapter, but her initial absence will make a difference to how the next chapter works out. She also wouldn't have been around to fight Bear. Now, I have told you that you have saved one character with this and doomed another. Who might it be?

    Ellena I:

    [Warn Terroma]

Terroma would have escaped like he did in the choice that won. However, Jaron wouldn't have been able to escape in time and would have been captured by Samuel and Jaylon. This would have given Ellena the option to prevent his capture by attacking Samuel. If this option would have been taken, she would have been stabbed nonlethally, but Jaron would have gotten away, leading to him meeting up with Martin and Harpy. If not saved, he would have been taken to Butterfly, but would have been saved by Abbas and Bakr before actually reaching him. Ellena would have been in a critical condition and would have been saved by Harpy and Martin, who would have brought Ellena to the Burned Man for medical treatment

    [Warn Jaron]

Jaron would have escaped like he did in the choice that won. Terroma would have been cornered by Samuel and Jaylon and would have gone with them peacefully, at least until Samuel would have made the mistake of threatening Ellena and Talea. Terroma would have proceeded to utterly wipe the floor with both of them, breaking Samuel's swordhand in the process. Since Samuel can fight with both hands equally, this would have only marginally lessened the threat he is in future chapters. Ultimately, both of them would have fled. Terroma would have learned that Mullendore is in charge of the investigation and would have decided to leave the ship, like he did in the choice that won.

    [Warn neither]

Samuel and Jaylon would have tried to bring Terroma and Jaron to Butterfly. Like in the [Warn Jaron] choice, they would have provoked a fight with Terroma, but this time they would also target Jaron during the fight, leading Terroma to try his best to protect Jaron instead of defeating Samuel and Jaylon. He would have managed to force them to retreat, but would have been wounded in this fight, a wound that would have affected him enough to cause his death in a fight in a future chapter. For now, he would have left the ship and Jaron would have the choice to leave with Harpy and Martin.

    Jenna II:

    [Decline Carma's offer]

Jenna would have stayed at the castle, where she would have been attacked by Wolfius like at the end of her fourth part, with no further changes. However, accepting Carma's offer lead to a situation that could have resulted in Carma's death.

    Jaron I:

    [Go to sleep]

Jaron's chapter would have been much shorter and the conversation between him, Harpy and Martin wouldn't have happened. The conversation option was mainly to show more of the personality of these three characters. Martin would have woken Jaron as soon as Himani would have arrived, leading to the conversation at the end of the second Jaron part.

    Maya II:

    [Slap him]

Slap him might be the wrong word here, but it rhymed so nicely with [Stab him]. Maya wouldn't simply bitchslap that guy, she would have punched him hard enough to send him to the ground, breaking his nose in the process. Lord Brune would have been absolutely furious and would have called for his guards. Maya would have been arrested and brought to the Dyre Den's single cell, in which she would have been together with Gregar and Irving. With the help of an unknown man, later revealed to be Ser Aldrik, they would have escaped. This would have lead to another Maya part, in which the character of Irving would have been shown a bit more, proving himself to be slightly above mediocre in a very particular skill, which would have lead to Maya having a better opinion on him. Lord Brune would have chased after Maya, together with his guards. In the ensuing fight, Gregar would have been severely wounded and would have ultimately died in the next chapter from a festering wound. Ser Aldrik would have killed Lord Brune personally, before revealing his true allegiance to Lord Royce, leading to the choice of letting him accompany her or sending him back to Runestone

    Lucas I:

    [Yell at her]

Lunett would have been even more devastated by this, leading to her getting a worse opinion on Lucas. Leonard would have felt a bit bad about his treatment of Lunett in that case and would have ultimately forgiven her. The light flirting between Lucas and Lunett in the third Lucas part wouldn't have happened.

    [Console her]

This would have lead to Lucas consoling Lunett, much to Leonards disdain, who would see Lucas as weak in that case. Lunett would have shown signs of seriously crushing on Lucas, but her friendship to Leonard would have been broken.

    Kersea I:

    [Lie to her]

Kersea would have told Alysanne how she brutally killed Richard personally, leading to Alysanne getting a very high opinion on Kersea. Wolfius would have called her bluff, of course, but he would have stayed silent, confronting her about her lie during their mission. He wouldn't have been angry though, he would have simply been overjoyed that he would get the option to kill Richard himself, even complimenting Kersea on convincingly lying to Alysanne

[Make up an excuse to evade the conversation]

Kersea would have excused herself and would have talked to Clayton instead, which would have lead to Alysanne getting a bit distrustful about Kersea. Clayton would have noticed that something about Kersea's behaviour is off and would have deduced that she fucked one of his orders up, namely killing Richard Harking. He would have confronted her about this and would have beaten her almost unconscious as a punishment, threatening to hurt her sister the next time she would disobey him. This would have lead Kersea to be far more dutiful in her mission to kill Halla and Jenna, as well as far more brutal. This option could have even lead to Richard's death as a consequence, because Kersea would have snapped his neck when confronting him before the fight against Wolfius, if she would have chosen to stand guard instead of walking away.

    Richard I:

    [Approach the farm directly]

Absolutely nothing would have changed, except that Richard would have confronted Alan earlier. Alan wouldn't have noticed him until Richard confronted him and the part would have been proceeded as in the choice that won.

[Try to seek help from Roman's farm]

This option would have introduced Richard's Nemesis, the neighbouring farmer Roman, with whom he has a petty rivalry. Roman is not a bad man, however, and upon seeing the shape Richard was in, he would have provided horses and would have helped Richard in confronting Alan and even Wolfius. Roman will now be introduced in a later chapter

    John II:

    [Attack the inn directly]

This would have lead to a fight in the John Gutten style, with lots of dead bandits. Aylard wouldn't have been wounded in that option, but no major changes would have happened.

    Ellena II:

    [Tell them about Terroma's whereabouts]

Surprisingly, Samuel would have stayed true to his word and would have left Ellena alone. However, this option would have led to problems for Terroma in future chapters.

    [Stay silent and do nothing]

I was heavily surprised that this option actually got so many votes. You do realize that Butterfly is not very kind to girls in Ellena's age, or to girls of any age, don't you? However, I wouldn't have been comfortable with writing about the rape and brutal torture of a 12 year old girl, I really wouldn't have. Because of this, Samuel and Jaylon would have encountered Abbas and Bakr, while holding Ellena and Talea as their hostage on their way down the docks. To avoid a fight, Samuel and Jaylon would have made a deal with Abbas and Bakr. They keep Talea, while Ellena has to meet the Burned Man. Talea would have been brutally murdered offscreen, her horribly mutilated corpse would have been found in later chapters.

    Jenna III:

    [Let Carma go]

This option would have lead to Carma getting killed by Wolfius, since she wouldn't have been able to fight back properly. Naturally, this would have changed the character of Urid to become a far darker character, hellbent on taking his revenge on Wolfius.

    Kersea II:

    [Decline to work with Wolfius]

Wolfius would have worked on his own, brutally attacking Jenna without giving Kersea any chance to change something about this. Kersea would have been far more subtle in her approach, actively avoiding to murder anyone she isn't ordered to murder, killing Lady Halla quick and without letting her suffer.

    Garthon I:

[Ride the whole night to Maidenpool]

Garthon and George would have arrived at Maidenpool in their next part, which would have influenced their storyline in the next chapter.

    Richard II:

[Leave Alan behind and go to the castle alone]

Alan wouldn't have 'helped' in the fight against Wolfius and Kersea, instead he would have cleaned Richard's house, like he promised. In the meantime he would have found a little bit of money and would have tried to steal it from Richard.

    Torvin II:

[Try to convince the prisoner to let Harlan go]

Torvin would have succeeded in convincing the prisoner, but would have failed to give Harlan the near-death experience he was so desperately longing for. The prisoner would have been brutally tortured to death by Holt and Harlan would still be very thankful for Torvin

    [Do nothing]

Torvin would have done nothing, but Gabin would have intervened, effectively talking the prisoner down. He would have become even better friends with Harlan, but Torvin would have missed his chance of winning Harlan's trust.

    John III:

[Let Temari protect Aylard and his family]

This option would have resulted in Aylard's offscreen death. Temari would have been unable to properly protect the family because of his wounds and would have concentrated on protecting Behara. Aylard would have sacrificed himself to protect his son. Samantha would have stayed back at the inn and would have been able to prevent Bear from taking Cass hostage, effectively saving her life.

    Lucas II

[Bring Dairon and the will to Lord Hightower] [Bring Dairon and the will back to Harris] [Destroy the will and bring Dairon back to Harris] [Let Dairon go and bring the will back to Harris]

So far this would have been only a dialogue change. Leonard would have looked favourably upon every option that would benefit Harris and would have been very resentful of the Hightower option. He would have still supported Lucas, but would have judged him for it and it would have strained their friendship.

    Marak II:

[Tell Ser Darren that Noelle is a dangerous witch]

Ser Darren would have been far more distrustful of Noelle, refusing to look into the fire and refusing to help her at all, leading to Noelle becoming furious with Marak.

[Tell Ser Darren that there is nothing to worry about Noelle]

Ser Darren wouldn't have believed him, being very distrustful of Noelle, but she would have managed to convince him of her intentions either way.

    Willfred II:

[Let Tallian torture them, before sending them back to Harrenhal]

Tallian would have castrated the Ironborn, cut out their tongues and would have blinded all of them save for one who would have lead them back to Harrenhal. They would have arrived in Chapter 5, which would have had a negative impact on Harren Hoare's mood.

[Treat them like a knight would do and imprison them]

This option would have brought Willfred great praise by the king and by his father. The Ironborn would have been imprisoned in Crakehall and would have been treated fairly. They would have been ransomed for some of Hoare's prisoners.

    Maya III:

    [Send him back to Runestone]

Ser Aldrik wouldn't have appeared for the remainder of Book 1, but would have become an important supporting character in the Vale storyline in Book 2, as the right hand man of Orson Royce.

    Ellena III:

[Tell Samuel what he wants to know]

Like in the second Ellena part, Samuel would have stayed true to his word and would have left her alone. However, the Burned Man would have been furious about this. Ellena would have been in the need of finding a new ally in the next chapter, eventually finding this ally in the form of Maron Mullendore, who would have demaned knowledge about Terroma's whereabouts

[Tell both of them to leave you alone]

This would have changed Ellena's storyline for the next chapter tremendously. She would have had the option of winning the help of Maron Mullendore, although he would have demaned knowledge about Terroma's whereabouts

    Kersea III:

[Urge Wolfius to give Jenna a quick death]

This option would have lead to Jenna's death. Kersea would have lied to Wolfius about guards approaching, to spare Jenna the brutal torture Wolfius had in mind for her. Later, when escaping from the castle, Kersea and Wolfius would have encountered Richard, Alan and Nora. Kersea would have realized that Jenna's death could have been prevented and she would have been devastated by this, causing her to attack Wolfius in a fit of rage. In the ensuing fight, she would have destroyed Wolfius left eye, causing him to flee the castle and flee the city. She would have escaped herself, but would have been severely punished by Clayton for this.

    [Stand guard as he requested]

Kersea would have been dutiful to the end and would have fought against Richard, Alan and Nora. Wolfius would have joined the fight, stabbing Richard in the process, while Kersea would have been wounded by Alan, who would have impaled her leg with his pitchfork. Wolfius wouldn't have managed to kill Jenna, but he would have had a very high opinion on Kersea due to her loyalty, resulting in him helping her to escape. Richard would have died from the wound he got from Wolfius, but would have lived long enough to see Jenna safe.

    John IV:

[Order Janae to drop her bow]

This option would have changed almost nothing, to be honest. Bear never intended to leave Cass alive and he would have killed her with pleasure before escaping after a short fight with Temari and John. Janae would have judged John for this, as well as Aylard and Samantha. John would have felt slightly less guilty about Cass death, knowing that Bear had no intentions to let her life.

    Jaron II:

    [Help Himani and target Jarek]

This option would have lead to a different first half of Jarons storyline in the next chapter.

    Garthon II:

[Simulate a fight - Punch him softly] [Refuse to fight him]

Both of these option would have changed the first half of Garthon's storyline in the next chapter.

    Jenna IV

[Try to punch him in the face]

This option would have doomed Jenna to a brutal death, as she would have failed to hurt Wolfius enough to give her some time. Wolfius would have slit her throat just in the moment Richard arrived, leading to Richard brutally beating Wolfius, even more brutal than he did in the choice that won. This would have naturally changed Richard's personality, turning him into a far darker character.

[Try to push the knife away to stop him from cutting]

This would have given Jenna enough time to get saved, however she would have received severe damage to her hands, eventually loosing two fingers on her right hand due to gangrene.

    Lucas III:

    [Insist on waiting politely]

Lucas and Leonard would have waited for quite some time, which would have caused a difference in the next chapter. They would have finally met the Archmaester, albeit he would have had time to put on his copper mask, hiding his true identity.

    Torvin III:

[Make up an excuse to meet up with the Lord Captain]

This would have drastically changed Torvin's storyline in the next chapter. He would have met the Lord Captain and several other captains, who will now be introduced in Act 2, Chapter 2.

    John V:

[Listen to Janae's advice and keep Samantha with you]

This option would have had a heavy influence on several future storylines because it would have removed her from the Oldtown storyline, so I won't go into much detail here.

  • John I:

[Allow her to go after Lucas]

Obviously, Samantha would be gone immediately. She wouldn't have arrived in Oldtown fast enough to influence Lucas' parts in this chapter, but her initial absence will make a difference to how the next chapter works out. She also wouldn't have been around to fight Bear. Now, I have told you that you have saved one character with this and doomed another. Who might it be?

John saved, but Lunett doomed? Leonard? Lucas? WHO?

And as I promised, here are the alternative choices for Chapter 3, which is indeed longer than Chapter 1 and 2 combined. Alternative Ch

Maybe Lucas, maybe Leonard or Lunett, maybe someone from John's group, maybe a completely new character or a completely unexpected character from the Oldtown storyline, maybe even a character from a seemingly unrelated storyline or a character in Raylansfair, or maybe Samantha herself is doomed now... you will likely realize who the doomed person is as soon as it is too late. When the part in question has been written and the character is dead, which will be relatively soon, I shall reveal it.

  • Where's the page with the list of characters to be introduced in Act 2? I need to look at that.

I've made a list of all the characters who will be introduced in Book 1 on page 31, right above the Lucas part. Most of them will be introduced in Act 2 and roughly about half of these will be introduced in Chapter 1.

By the way, the 'doomed' character might not be entirely doomed, but there is a very specific course of action needed for several seemingly unconnected PoV's to save this character. It could also be that the 'doomed' character is a villain, like Bear, Wolfius or Butterfly, so you might not even want to save this character.

  • People should have voted for Stand Guard or Urge Wolfius to kill Jenna

  • Yas. I don't want Wolfius attacking Hackor. Wait-I take that back. That battle would surely be a epic death scene for Hackor or Wolfius. I know Hackor is badass against Ironborn, and has that armor to protect him, but I don't know enough about Wolfius if he is any good against actual skilled fighters instead of just mere townfolk.(Disregarding the fact he is also the townfolk ;D )

Though you made me curious... why exactly do you want to see Jenna and Richard dead so badly? Why not Urid and Carma for a change?

Soo if The King wants everyone to kill themselves , then people does? :P

Because i just don´t like them. I like Alan better than them :D. And don´t hurt Urid and Carma until the war comes and kills everyone in Raylasfair

  • Well, Wolfius has always something up his sleeve, some tricks that might be uncommon and unexpected from him. But he also has his weaknesses. Richard came close to beat him to death in the last chapter for example. Though I agree, a battle between Hackor and Wolfius would be epic.

  • Fantastic chapter Liquid! And phenomenal Act 1! I just can't stand how much I love this story. I love your writing and ability to make all characters, even villains, likable.

I will answer these questions soon, because I am writing the next part of my story :D My spring break just started, so between these fanfictions and no school, this is going to be a good week. :)

  • Good Job!

  • Of course, it's their duty to serve the king! Everyone loves the king and would gladly die if it pleases him, that's how monarchy works.

And we'll see about the Strad's. When you live in a city with a really dangerous killer on the loose, or in a castle ruled by a killer, or in Dorne, there could be a few dangers awaiting all of them. I just realized that not every traumatic event in the story can happen to these two Harkings.

Finally, you actually like Alan more than Richard and Jenna? Now that's hard. What have they done to win your hate? I remember that Jenna was your favourite character that wasn't yours in Chapter 2 XD

  • Thank you... I guess. Man, I managed to make you like the sadistic madman Harlan and somehow made you dislike the heroic farmer Richard and innocent little Jenna... I certainly did a mistake there... Now, hypothetically speaking, if Harlan tortures Gabin to death and Richard saves Carma from Wolfius, would that change your opinion on them? Hypothetically speaking of course!

  • Mhm. I think Wolfius is one of those people you know is more dangerous than they seem. Hopefully Hackor notices this and places archers along the roofs, but then Wolfius has archers on higher wolves. Then Kersea will swap sides out of per hate, or Harris out bids Clayton or Alysanne and wins their loyalties, thus getting Kersea's. But then Butterfly then has other assassins in Raylainsfair who Clayton goes toe to toe with. The city guard archers then have to deal with these assassins. Back down on the street Hackor and Wolfius duel it out, Hackor knacking him with a cut to the ribs and Wolfius slashing him in the shoulder. Hackor has a slower slash, but Wolfius is all injured. Then Richard, Arthur, Harris, another Butterfly minion, or some other major character come and breaks the two apart and duels against another, whether it be Hackor or Wolfius. If it is a Butterfly minion, Wolfius would probably lash out and try to reenter the duel. But either way I hope there would be some mass conspiracy stuff going on with a major battle, but I do realize this is extremely unlikely.

Well, Wolfius has always something up his sleeve, some tricks that might be uncommon and unexpected from him. But he also has his weaknesse

  • Who were your favourite characters in Act 1?Lyria, Leonard, and Samantha.

Who were your least favourite characters in Act 1?Jenna (So much hate on Jenna ;O )

Who were your favourite PoV's in Act 1? Lyria and John

Who were your least favourite PoV's in Act 1? Jenna and Richard (Sorry)

What has been your favourite chapter in Act 1?I loved all the chapters, but if I had to choose it would be Dark Wings, Dark Words..

What has been your favourite part and your favourite moment in Act 1?The part where Lyria speaks with the City Guard, because I love the father son relationship between Hackor and Arthur

Is there anything you disliked? Sorry Harkings! And I also didn't understand why the Butterfly would kidnap Kersea's sister. Did he know she had awesome assassin powers or did she expect her to die immediately.

Do you have further advice, anything you'd like to see more, anything you're anticipating in Act 2? Maybe outline a major central plot line, then set the minor plot lines.

So... this was Chapter 3, this was Act 1. Compared to the first two chapters, this chapter was so much longer, longer than both of the previ
