"I told you not to talk about my family!"

I know you all know this scene, it's the scene in which Jane and Kenny are having that argument in the truck just after Clem wakes from the dream sequence in Season 2 Episode 5 - No Going Back.

I'm going to get pretty much straight to the point of, Jane says "Sooner or later they're all gonna end up dead, Sarita knew it, I know it and so does Clementine!" in which Kenny responds by saying "I told you not to talk about my family!"

This is small and yes Jane mentioned 'Sarita' in there but was Kenny referring to Clementine as family? Because how that played out it kind of did, now personally I don't mind that because I am a huge Kenny fan and i would love for him to consider Clem his family.

Tell me what you guys think about this and tell me if you think Kenny was referring to Clem and Sarita as family or just Sarita. Have a nice day :)

  • I think he might have, because he says family and not her. And he says it right after she says Clem. It all depends on your opinion on Kenny, but I think he considers Clem his family because he feels like he had to try protecting her

  • I´ll admit I never even thought about it before reading this but it sounds pretty plausible.

  • I definitely do think that he does consider Clementine family because of the fact that she's the only one that we know of that's still alive from the original Season 1 group. The reason I say that is because Kenny is willing to do anything to protect his family and the people he loves, and throughout Season 2, we see numerous instances how he does that with Clementine, such as giving up if Carver holds her at gunpoint and taking the blame for the missing radio.

  • I always thought Clementine was in there when he said that.

  • Yeah, 100% I agree with this so much..

  • I never even thought about it, but yeah. He probably considers Clementine family.

  • That's actually a really interesting point...never thought about that, cool :D

I do think that he meant Clem as family. I mean, they may not have interacted much in Season 1, but he really attached to Clem as Season 2 went on. He probably thought of Clem as family just as he thought of AJ as his, most likely at least.

  • I thought that too, but Jane says 'Sarita knew it I know it and so does Clementine' so I doubt Kenny would think of Jane as family:P

Does Kenny also consider Jane family too then? Think about it. She put herself in with Clem and Sarita, to which Kenny responded by saying "family." So logically she must be considered family to him in some regard. And we all know what Kenny tried to do to her a scene later. He could've just said "don't talk about Sarita or Clementine!" But he chose to say "family", clumping herself in with them. I think this proves something very dastardly about Kenny's mental state.

Kenny wants to murder his "family" confirmed.

  • Hahahahahaha.

    Hahaha.

    No.

    Clem is not his family.

  • Possibly? Never occurred to me. It's obvious he cares about her, but I don't know if that's what he meant.

  • I thought when he said dont talk about my family, he meant the ones who were dead, off of her they'll all end up dead comment.

  • If Clem was Kenny's family, she would've already died. Kenny can't protect anyone, he can kill without hesitation, but being a good father and husband is way above him.

  • I don't believe he was talking about Clementine in this instance, but I would like to believe that Kenny would have considered Clementine family in my particular story. Same for Lee.

  • Yeah, I get this point but I think if he said "I told you not to talk about my family" even after she said herself in the same sentence, he was not meaning her at all because I mean... Look what happened just after that scene.

  • If anyone is a hypocrite, it's Kenny.

The same man who smashed an unconscious man's face in without a second though, almost got the group killed because he refused to even acknowledge his son was bitten.

And, no, they weren't hypocritical. Their hatred was justified, they even took time to explain why they disliked him and were still over flooded with thirteen year olds telling them to kill themselves because of their distaste for a pyscho. So much hatred they had to apologize. I'm just happy many people (myself included) told them they shouldn't have. They hated an unlikable character, boohoo.

  • Their play through was actually really funny and entertaining when they actually shut their mouths about Kenny, which was incredibly rare, even before they reintroduced him. I get they don't like Kenny, I'm fine with that, but to make about 80% of the commentary simply trashing Kenny, most of which was at times when it was completely uncalled for, that's just pathetic.

I thought he made that clear? You know Rick refers to his entire group as his family :3 survivors usually refer to their groups as famil.

  • Maybe deep down he did but you know, anger is allot easier shown than love.

  • Honestly I always see people referring to a person as a hater if they dislike a character, don't care about a character or like a character but aren't blinded to know their unjustifiable actions. Hate... a strong word, overused with now little meaning.

So much hatred they had to apologize.

    Seriously? That is ridiculous.

...The more people get angry of my opinion on a character, the more I would hate on the character.

    He's got a point, though.

That's a 2 part video above us. Part 1 is 50 minutes, part 2 is an hour and a half.

They practically have 3 hours of this entire playthrough of both seasons, which, as an estimate, would be around 16 hours worth of gameplay total, dedicated to hating Kenny.

That means nearly 20% of their playthrough is dedicated to hating on Kenny. That's how much of their content/jokes revolve around the hatred of a single character.

    It's kind of ridiculous.

It's kind've funny. Ssohpkc did a whole lets play on TWD both seasons. He started out hating Kenny, then grew to like him by the end of season 1. Then liked him for season 2, regretting shooting him. The most hate he gave Kenny was a one minute rant in season 1. I agree; too much of it revolved around a hatred for a single character.
Also referring to above link with last sentence.

All their videos for a while after their walkthrough were flooded with hate comments. Constantly dealing with that must be tough. They eventually apologized for the whole walkthrough.

I don't have any problem with them not liking Kenny, I just have a problem with how much time they spend focusing on how they don't like Kenny.

Take a playthrough of someone who didn't like Ben/Arvo/Duck/Lilly/Jane and compile all the times they talked/ranted about them; it wouldn't be much more than 10-15 minutes. These guys nearly managed 3 hours.
