So I just bought episode 5 for the PS3 and since ive downloaded episode 3, I either get nothing but a black screen Wyeth my current account, or I can only play it with my old account. When I play with my old account I can't even save my game so my decisions don't affect anything but the episode I'm currently playing. You guys need to fix this, abs from other posts you aren't even responding to your customers/fans. Next episode should be free! If it even works...
I believe it is the old save file corrupting the game. I ended up deleting mine, (before episode 5 was released), and was and still am able to play the game perfectly fine even with the new episode.
I realize this this means restarting all the way from episode 1, and I just happen to be lucky enough to like my newer choices more than my original ones.
I'm also experiencing this issue since downloading episode 5. This is the first time this has happened to me with this or any other Telltale game. I'm absolutely not going to delete my save data, but I will try deleting and reinstalling the program. Will Telltale fix this?
Yeap guys, the saved file seems to be the problem. Delete it, and even without reinstalling the game, you should be able to play just fine. It's frustrating though, having to play all over again.
I might ask too much, but the least Telltale should do is to make an official response. I don't require an apology, because none of us really know who is responsible or what's the cause of the problem. I (want to) believe they are working on it right now to solve it. My problem is that I don't want to delete my saved games and the game itself a thousand different way just because I've read it in a comment and might work (I did it though already). I want an official statement that says that if you do that and that point by point there's a good chance that your problem is solved, for the time being we are working on a permanent solution of this problem that it would hopefully wont occur again with the next episode. I know I ask much.

Das erste mit dem verspäteten Erscheinungstermin ist ganz einfach zu beheben, habe ich auch erst zur 3 Episode gecheckt: Die Episoden kommen immer rechtzeitig in den Store, das Problem ist nur die PS-Store-App auf deiner PS3. Die ist einfach nicht aktuell, daran kannst du auch nichts ändern. Du machst einfach folgendes:
Logg dich über deinen PC oder Laptop, ganz normal im Browser, in den Playstation-Store. Die Zugangsdaten sind dieselben wie auf deiner Playstation.
Suche die neue Episode (Manchmal etwas schwer zu finden)
Kaufe die neue Episode (Wenn du einen Seasons Pass hast, kostet es 0 Euro)
Wenn du den Kauf abgeschlossen hast, erscheint unten eine Liste mit deinen letzten Käufen. Neben den einzelnen Positionen ist ein Button "auf meine PS3 downloaden" oder so ähnlich. Den klickst du. Er müsste sich jetzt ändern in "Downloadwarteschlange" oder sowas.
Jetzt kannst du dich an deinem PC wieder ausloggen und über deine Playstation in den Store gehen.
Gehe hier auf "Downloads" und die neue Episode sollte als erste ganz oben stehen, bereit zum downloaden.

Dein zweites Problem mit dem Blackscreen kann ich auch eventuell lösen, also bei mir hat es funktioniert, ohne dass ich meine Saves löschen musste. Der Blackscreen kam bei mir, nachdem ich die 5. Episode installiert hatte. Diese Schritte habens bei mir wieder funktionieren lassen:
Lösche das Spiel komplett von deiner Playstation (NICHT die Saves, die lässt du einfach, wo sie sind)
Installiere NUR die 1. Episode über den PS-Store wieder, inklusive des Seasons Pass (bei mir waren das 2 Dateien, eine große und eine kleine). NICHT die anderen Episoden installieren.
Starte das Spiel jetzt
Das Spiel wird dich fragen, ob du die neueste Aktualisierung installieren willst - tu das, keine Sorge, das Problem liegt wo anders
prüfe, welcher Save-Slot ausgewählt ist. Bei mir war es der 4. ich habe ihn jetzt gewechselt auf den 1. (ich glaube, dass es eventuell daran gelegen hat)
Beende das Spiel wieder
Installiere jetzt die neueste Episode über den Store. Die anderen Episoden lässt du einfach weg (das könnte ebenfalls der Grund sein, also dass die 4. Episode mit der 5. crasht, oder so ähnlich)

Good to know. Alltough i didnt have the problem with the 4th episode...so it's still not really clear what causes the problem. But thats really Telltales job: They should figure it out and patch it.
But at least i was able to play it with my saves so i'm happy. I only hope this trick will also work if the 6th episode has the same problem...

Not when I play. If you did it exactly as I said and it still doesn't work, must be a file system issue with your PS3. A full system recovery might be in order.

I have been watching this thread, hoping for answers, or a solution for four months. Four months. I wasn't even signed up for an account on here. I got one just so I could weigh in on this.
I like you, TellTale. I'm a more recent fan, I started looking into you guys after I saw a playthrough of Walking Dead. I have multiple games from you all now, and all of them I thoroughly enjoy. I would not have found the wonderful Fables comics if it hadn't been for your all. I have enjoyed every game I've played so far, and have forgiven little things like the stuttering between scenes and characters popping in and out of the environments--I've really come to find your glitches endearing in a kind of "rooting for the underdog" way.

And I really hate to say this, but I want a refund.
I'll just have to watch playthroughs on YouTube from people who can afford all the expensive next gen shit.
But even then they aren't guaranteed a hiccup-free experience either.

So, I was paciently waiting the blackscreen issue to be resolved. At least with the new update released with episode 5, but my hopes was destroyed. So, I decided to research and found this thread.
I delete the game and download episode one again. Open the game, did not update, delete all my save files, except for the first. Updated the 1.08 version and download EVERY episode, with the exception of episode 4, that I don't recall the name now.
And I was able to play just fine the entire last episode. When I was finished, i decided to download the episode 4 and see if I could have all the episodes again since episode 3 release, but when I finish downloading (inside the game), the blackscreen just came back. And continues to appears every time on start up.
So, I think the big issue with the blackscreen it's something with episode 4. I hope this help you guys to fix it faster.

I had this issue with Episode 4 and now it's back with Episode 5. I was able to find a fix for Episode 4 but I had to choose a different save file that didn't have all my choices. I love Telltale and have played their entire library. I would actually pay (again) to play GOT on my PS4, but I don't want to start over from Episode 1. It would be nice to somehow be able to transfer my PS3 save files to my PS4 and continue with Episode 5 from there. Or a product code. Something. If this issue hasn't been fixed since Episode 4, I have my doubts it will ever be fixed.
Why why why why why does this keep happening with every single game and episode I download???????? I want an actual explanation, I paid you money for theses episodes and it keeps happening over and over again.

My husband and I have only played up to episode 3. Everything was fine and I played my turn and saved and then it was my husband's turn and there was just a black screen. It wouldn't even go to the "home page" (is that proper verbiage?). When we try to get to the game now, it will go to the black screen and then our entire PS3 crashes (ie: it is still on, but does not respond to controller commands and we have to turn it off by holding down the power button). Hope this info can help.
Here is an ACTUAL SOLUTION to the black screen, unlike any solutions TelltaleMike has provided. Pay attention.
1. Delete the game in the games list (this will NOT delete your save files).
2. Re-download episode 1 and then download episode 5.
3. Once they both have been re-downloaded, disconnect from the Internet, or sign out!
4. Start GOT and when it asks you to update just DECLINE it, cancel. It will ask you a couple times to sign in, do NOT sign in and the game WILL start up.
5. Play episode 5!! WORKS.
P.S. The only thing is at the end you can't compare your choice to other players, that's it!!. Wait for a patch about 6 months from now and you'll be able to. But who cares what anyone else does right!?!?.

1st and 4th episode works together this way, too. On the other hand 1st, 4th and 5th don't. 1st and 5th works, too.
