Similarities aside, no. Molly is a strong character. Jane is a troubled character.
Yes. The only reason I see that Jane was even introduced was to have a Molly-esque character without the improbable chance of actually running into Molly again.
Nope. The two are quite different. Molly is pretty self-assured, whereas Jane is rather insecure.
Plus Molly used more insults
In episode 3, she pretty much is. Come episodes 4 and 5 though, she starts to flesh out into her own separate character
I'd also like to note that I personally prefer Jane over Molly, as Jane feels more grounded and fitting to the world (Molly feels a bit too over-the-top for me, a bit too... idealistic? Not really sure what word to use here)
There honestly nothing alike apart from being loners and having dead sisters
Not really.
I believe you are right. Molly was confident in the face of danger, and Jane was insecure with attachments, what with the loss of her sister.
Am I correct on this or am I random guessing?
But in the end...the two of them are unique in their own rights.
If she left and never came back after episode 4 then yeah she's Molly 2.0.
They have similarities, but big differences too.
Also a personal difference, is that I liked molly, not so much Jane.
No no no no no no no no sir just no molly was great and i dont want her compared to jane
No Molly was more likable, i could understand her pain, whereas Jane they never developed her to be a believable character, always felt like she was lying, but in that regard Jane was a good character.
I found Jane to be a knock-off Molly. Molly was much more likeable than Jane
First off, I'd like to say Jane wasn't a "knock off" Molly. Whoever came up with that extremely loose comparison doesn't quite understand how character development is set up. Just because they're both females with a tragic backstory regarding their sisters, and are both women who aren't pre-built off of another character doesn't mean they're the same or that one is a knock off. Jane was written much differently and shared very little traits with Molly.
With that being said, I enjoyed Molly far more than Jane.
Molly was fine but Jane is a troublemaker.
There are definitely some not so subtle similarities. If Telltale hadn't used their one "Free Ass-pull" card to bring back Kenny, Molly probably would've taken Jane's place.
Yes she was, Season two was the Kenny Khronicles. Everything revolved around Kenny. The rehashing of old characters like Molly.
As you stated they're both survivalist females, with stories of tragedy regarding their sisters, both have the same tough attitude, same dislike for Kenny, same color outfit, both white females.
Not necessarily. The differences are there, but at the same time, they also could've tried a lot harder to make them less similar.
They have key similarities in their story arcs, but just enough to have them feel like different characters. We got to know Jane a whole lot better than Molly and if Jane didn't come back and save the day, then yeah both Jane and Molly would essentially be the same character.
A little bit but Molly is better and sweeter than Jane
We all share common similarities. You and I enjoy drinking, ok cool. We're still not the same, and to say that just because Jane and Molly are both white women who have sisters that died at some point during a zombie apocalypse doesn't mean they're the same.
Although Jane acts like a lonesome survivalist, I'd say she is a lot more open about her past and more willing to let people emotionally in than Molly. Molly never uttered a word about her sister and when Lee (determinately) found out and confronted her she kind of jokes it off and then later leaves the group because of an unspecified reason. Jane not only comes back for Clementine and Luke, but she desperately wants to open herself up to the group and connect to them. Hell, she even speaks to Clem about trying to help Kenny. Which although commendable, is not an action I'd expect from a desperado.
They're two very different people with very different personalities past just "they're both women who are strong and independent." Again, Jane isn't nearly as independent as Molly.
you know what, i agree completely.
Yes. I found Molly more easy to relate to though.
Short hair
Loners
Both apparently had dead sisters
Both leave the group
Both have a signature weapon
So nothing at all righhhht
