I wonder if the new characters will be involved in season 3 or if it will be totally separate, either way i am really excited about the upcoming announcement

Considering they tweeted that comic book fans would be especially excited, I'm guessing we'll get a cameo from the comic in Season 3, it'll continue the story of the comic book characters from Season 1, or they'll be adapting the comics in some way. IMO the first is probably the likeliest. Are there any comic book characters who just left the series, rather than dying?
I'm trying to figure out exactly what characters/events etc. from the comics they could use. Gotta remain canon I suppose, unless it's something that has been covered but not fully explored? Hmm...

This is my theory based off of Job and Laura's Twitter tease:
The Walking Dead: Season 2.5, as I saw someone above call it***, will feature a set of new characters from a location/time period that TWD comic book fan will recognize. These characters will have no real connection to the comic aside from the fact that they are related to said familiar location. With this location, we may also get a small cameo of a major and/or minor character from the comics. This "miniseries" or a TellTale season will have the new cast deviate away from the comic book setting so that they can set themselves up to (possibly) be incorporated in Season 3. The deviation will also allow for the comic story and the game story to remain independent of one another while, at the same time, providing as close to a crossover as we can get (aside from someone in the comics finding Clem's hat).
I'm thinking that it will be a DLC like 400 days but maybe longer and with brand new characters, possibly characters from the comic books. I would have prefered something that ties in all the different season 2 endings but I'm ready to play anything TWD! I hope it will give us some insight on season 3 though.
An interesting tease from Job on Twitter...
@.lauraperusco @.telltalegames I think we're close enough to say that fans of the game and especially the comic will be excited...

Job said it would especially excite comic fans, which makes me think it's an adaptation or expansion of an event/characters in the comic. The time skip could be but it applies to both the game and comic. Not something to get especially excited about imo...

Job J Stauffer: and, no, this won't be centered on previous game characters. Expect something fresh. Something untold...but no waffles. We left the waffles out, because PINEAPPLES! =D
When I come back from my trip, I'm changing my avatar to this ---> ಠ_ಠ so you know that every time I post, I am looking at chu in disapproval Telltale.
Pray this dlc is good, or you'll know about it from the scary critic that I am >.> now, excuse me for a little I have to rush off and go get drunk while crying like a Salem.

How about some splinter group the comic has introduced, but people know nothing about yet? I have not read the comics so I have no idea what that might be. I have however heard certain groups mentioned, like terminus? I think it was.
What I am getting at is they might be setting up this group of people and we play as them. I am thinking from a writer's point of view here, if I was Telltale this would be a really clever way of introducing season 3's antagonists.
Edit: I do realise that Terminus is known about, and has been explored by the TV counterpart as well. What I am saying is, is there a group in the comic that has been introduced, but not yet explored? Honestly I have not read the comics, but I do know there are splinter groups as people have mentioned them. I Can't for the life of remember who they are, but they have met Rick and Co. as far as I know at least in the comic, but are a huge unknown to comic readers. In my opinion this would be absolutely perfect to link the comic to tv and game with this group as they aren't known yet, across the platforms. Essentially keeping the main parties (i.e. Clem and Co,, Rick and Co. etc) apart, but both know about this particular group.
When we get to season 3, the people we play here, will then become our enemy, or ally depending on our choices. Does that make sense?

RIP @Lilacsbloom
Awww. I'm really saddened by this. I soooo wanted a prequel. Oh well... I always doubted it anyway.
mourns Luke fans

I'm still excited, don't get me wrong. I just really wanted a prequel. XD
Ok I'm 100% certain we're getting a game now :P
That seems like a nice way to avoid the season 2 multiple FREAKING ENDING CHOICE
Can't be mad at TT thou... they're TT and I'm their puppet...
They are said "We're will PLAY" before :Р
It's logicaly connect endings in Season 3 where will be Clementine.
I said that it is not necessary to make a separate episode to tie all the endings.
Ending of each at the end Season 2 - is its him beginning in Season 3.
In the meantime, we can see all the zombie-drama about the other characters this year!
If these new characters don't proceed into season 3 then I think it's a bit pointless
Why?
I would be glad to see more zombie-drama before Season 3.
After all those tweets from Mr.Stauffer I know what we will get:
SEASON

If this is something fresh then hopefully it will mean the end of Clems story and the flop which was Season Two can be forgotten about!!
