thank you. yeah, part of the problem is we don't know how long the affair lasted or if there were a few separated incidents...all we can say for sure is that it happened more than once and that Rebecca later regretted her tryst with Carver....
oh, another thing that made me think that the affair was consensual is that Rebecca slips up in the van after they've been captured and refers to their captor as "Bill", to which Kenny calls her out on...but I don't think she would've called him Bill by mistake if their affair wasn't consensual...I think she'd absolutely despise him and she doesn't get that feeling until after he kills Alvin
but I definitely would've liked to know more about the affair cuz that's the whole damn reason why Carver is chasing after everyone in the first place....if Rebecca had not been pregnant he may have just let them go..maybe not since they did need to forced labor...although I don't know why it would be forced- you should want to help reinforce the walls that are there to protect you and your loved ones...that always made me mad about Kenny, but now i'm going off on a tangent
I agree. And it is similar to the whole Lori and Shane situation. I like your theory as to why she might have cheated on Alvin. I also agree… more that once she figured out she was pregnant she started to distance herself from him. This would later cause the animosity between them. I would have liked if they had Luke or Bonnie explain the situation more, or maybe even have Rebecca admit it to us.
Your welcome! And the story should have been explored way more than it was. I mean that's the whole reason this guy is after us! When Clem was going to Carvers office she should have eavesdropped on the conversation and we could have found out more information about their relationship. I also feel that when we check on Rebecca in A House Divided she should have told us more about him, and why he's really after us, instead of just saying "he has a tough time letting go".

yeah...and the fact that Alvin is seemingly unaware of this affair (i don't know how though) adds more credence to the notion that the affair was consensual...if Carver had raped Rebecca I don't think any of them would've had a problem with killing Carver out right instead of just leaving

Alvin didn't seem to hate Carver as much as Rebecca did. So I don't think Rebecca really admitted to Alvin what exactly went on. Alvin also did not know that Rebecca was unsure who the father was, which also proves your point.

BUT, maybe Alvin did know and just had a 'don't ask/don't tell' mindset regarding Rebecca and Carver, and decided that he was going to treat the baby like he/she were his regardless. B/c when Carver got the lodge and even back at Howes, it was pretty obvious Carver thought the baby was his....there's no way Alvin didn't now or at least have some sort of suspicion...I think it was just a taboo subject and it was easier to sweep it under the rug...and with Carver being mental, no one wants him raising the kid anyway

I always believed that it was consensual but still very exploitative due to the influence of what could easily have been classified as Stockholm Syndrome.
I think it implies that it was consensual, probably until she realized she was preggo...
just b/c if you take that statement with how eve… moreryone else who spoke about the affair/pregnancy, none of them made it sound like Carver raped her, just that they didn't want to be gossiping about the affair...
but if that's how you interpret it, we'll just have to agree to disagree b/c I wouldn't say that your interpretation is wrong
Indeed. Her character would be a lost cause. The only conceivable way they could ever incorporate a 'Clementine getting raped theme' into the game (things I never thought I'd say) would be if Clem was a NPC or if it was, again, an attempted rape.
I'd be disturbed forever and feel no emotion for the perpetrator. But Telltale would never do an explicit, graphic, brutally disgusting rape… more scene. If they did, the game would most likely be censored. I don't know how Telltale would even be able to continue Clem's character if they made such a scene.
I thought that she was gonna get raped in episode 5 of S2 because the poster for it had 'sexual content' with the other warnings of what tha… moret episode could contain. But luckily it didn't happen. BUT I think that, if they're gonna use Clementine as a way older person (like 18 or 19), Telltale could include that she got raped and that person got away with it. She could tell this to the playable protagonist or another character while they try to bond with her. And this wouldn't be as graphic as a real rape scene so it actually would fit into how far Telltale wants to go with difficult subjects like this.
I still think that an attempted rape would be **plenty* far enough. Take the attempted rape on Carl in the TV Series for example... it never quite occurred but was still raw shock value upon the audience.
You guys, this is the reality of an actual apocalypse. If you guys are "disgusted" by attempted rape, then you also should be disgusted by murder, which has happened multiple times.
I honestly think something traumatic happening to Clem would increase her character depth, make her more human.
I always believed that it was consensual but still very exploitative due to the influence of what could easily have been classified as Stockholm Syndrome.
But then she is saved
I hate it when stuff like that happens. Why does she need to be saved? The world's fallen to ashes and destruction. This would finally push her character into truly thinking the world is hell
I think it would not only develop her character arc but as well as the villain's and break this illusion that Clementine is untouchable
… more
There are far better ways of doing that though without thrusting players into a scene haphazardly being raped and stripped of their development just so that, as an excuse, they can build back up as a different figure. Build up the sense of suffering through a strong narrative direction and subtle character cues. Write a Stanley Kubrick film not a Russ Meyer film.
Clementine has never been in these situations before and would show how far she's come from being a scared girl to a defenseless suffering one
No, it'd just be tasteless self-serving bait for people that think rape being used as a development arc is edgy and risqué.

That's why I said 'if'. I know that Telltale can't go past the timeline from the comics but Telltale has ignored realism before so it's not impossible.
She's practically unreal, at least to me. She makes all the adults look like blockheads, and sometimes I feel so bored and dull playing as her. It's so repetitive.
There were made-up stories... before Episode 3 came out... how Nate would've raped Sarah & how she would 180 turn after that...
why does it always have to be Clementine...
Well the community awhile back, before the episode 3 or 4 came out, kind of like how Clem will lose her hat in Ep4, and ot would've symbolized her changing kinda wished that would be true...
and what do u mean by "180' turn?
As in character completely changing their personality, opinions (like when Luke talked about how hesuddenly wants to survive in Ep4, , but in Ep3 he risks everything to save the group at Howe's)

Physical assault is to be expected in a zombie apocalypse, even if a child is the recipient of the trauma. So as long as it isn't portrayed in a gratuitous manner, it's fair game.
Sexual assault is another thing entirely, especially when the victim is a child. Telltale would be playing with fire if they even considered including a scene in the future, and I'd rather it never happens.
That kind of goes with the territory of being a playable character, Ii still fail to see how her being raped would change that. I get the feeling people just want to see her suffer.
I remember hearing a rumour that something like this was going to happen involving the character Nate as a rapist of some sort, but they decided not to go along with it as it would have been a step too far, so he never appeared in S2.

I don't know about that, if you fail the QTE's he just shoots Clementine in the face.
Yeah, I think rape was the last thing on his mind.

this is what i would do to the person who did that
I always believed that it was consensual but still very exploitative due to the influence of what could easily have been classified as Stockholm Syndrome.
But it couldn't be off screen if we were playing as Clementine.

I see what you did there. Nice.
We're never going to see Clementine that old because that would bypass the comic book timelines.
I still think that an attempted rape would be **plenty* far enough. Take the attempted rape on Carl in the TV Series for example... it never quite occurred but was still raw shock value upon the audience.

I don't think it was Stockholm syndrome. I think the affair went on until Carver started getting more despotic and Rebecca realized she was pregnant
I think it would add ALOT to the story.
Im not saying she should be raped, but an attempted rape would really add more to her character.
better yet she saves her self
Attempted rape imo would serve a good purpose in her character development. An actual rape is too risque.
How is she not human enough now?
That's why I said 'if'. I know that Telltale can't go past the timeline from the comics but Telltale has ignored realism before so it's not impossible.

Winston wasn't going to rape a little kid.
He was going to murder her.
There is a difference.
"Let's rape a little girl in order to make her a deeper character."
So you guys want her to continue to magically always be out of harm's way. Lol that's very realistic right?
No that's a horrible thing? Murder to deepen a storyline is quite desperate!
Getting Clementine out of harm's way when it comes to being sexually assaulted, yes.
Sexually assaulted? Tf? What about physically assaulted.
Physical assault is to be expected in a zombie apocalypse, even if a child is the recipient of the trauma. So as long as it isn't portrayed in a gratuitous manner, it's fair game.

Murder and rape are different...
