Do you think the game would be any different if Lee and Clementine gender switched?

    No, because gender doesn't define personality.

    That is to say, there is not one single choice or dialogue option which Lee has which would be inconceivable for a female to do or say.

    If literally all that changed was Lee was female and Clem was male, their personalities would be exactly the same, and that's what matters in terms of their effect on the game.

  • Yes because it wouldn't of been the same game we played. It would be slightly different.

    ...er...

    So your answer to 'would the game be different if Lee and Clem's gender switched' is 'Yes because lee and clem's gender switched'...?

    I'm pretty sure he's asking if it would have any effects beyond that.

    It's like answering the question 'what would happen if I eat this poison' with 'you would eat that poison'.

    In this situation i am trying to think if these two characters switched genders, would it affect the story/gameplay. I think it would. You wouldn't get Clementine, you would have Charles, and you wouldn't get Lee, you would get Leia.

  • But, again, I think he's asking whether it would have an effect on the story BEYOND the actual gender change. Would Lee/Clem have acted differently, would different choices be available, etc., and I think the answer to that is no.

  • I think it would have been interesting. Personality would not have really changed, I don't think.

  • It depends on the writers i guess. This is such a dumb hypothetical.

    Other than a few people not wanting to play because it would be a female lead in a genre that should be geared towards mainly boys. I can see other minor differences, mainly in character and group Dynamics.

    Lee was going to prison outside Atlanta.
    It's very unlikely that a female prison would be close to a male prison outside of Atlanta, so Leanne would either be heading in a different direction at the beginning, or getting taken to a transfer facility which would take her to another prison. It could also be likely she is under arrest for another reason entirely.
    People question Lee's relationship with Clementine.
    People would be less likely to question a female with a child.
    People viewed Lee as quite capable.
    People would no doubt view Leanne as less capable just because she is a female.
    Kenny would've viewed Leanne as someone who would need protecting rather than someone who can knock a couple of heads together.
    Larry unless he was a complete dickhead wouldn't punch Leanne when they were leaving the drugstore at the end.
    Kenny might've come with you regardless of your attitude toward him when you were bitten.
    The Stranger might've thought Leanne could be his new wife to his long lost son Clegg.
    Kenny might've tried to seduce Leanne in a drunken stupor after his wife died.

    Anything could happen really.

    Leanne=female Lee.
    Clegg=male Clem.

  • Where did you get the name Clegg?

  • I don't know. I couldn't think of a masculine version of Clementine.

  • Younger boys are usually much more wild than young girls. Chances are if Clem was a boy it'd be a Duck 2.0 throughout season 1.
