Wow naik, actually defending Jane!
Jane would never do what Kenny did for Clem before getting his eye bashed in. Jane never cared about a… morenyone but herself. Yes, Kenny had very selfish moments that got worse as time went on after everything he went through. As far as im concerned, i agree with Kennyftw on his/her comment.
For example at the end where you have to kill the doctor. I mean there arent many left in this world and he kills one. He could have just pushed him away or knocked him out, but he was angry. One of the reasons why I find this game just 'ok' is that I couldnt agree with many of Joels doings. Especially that end with the doctor, they could have made a choice if you want to kill him or just push him away or something like that
I wanted to not kill the doctor, and I thought I could throw a bottle or brick at him and knock him out. Unfortunately, I didn't have one, so I just shot him in the face
Second playthrough, I kept a bottle for that part. Tried throwing it at him. It did nothing, and the doctor gave no fucks. So I shot him in the face again
Pretty sure someone has posted something similar to what I'm about to say already, but might as well throw in my two cents...
Both of them did in their own separate ways. Kenny wanted what was best for Clementine like what Lee used to do for her as a matter of fact, look out for her, protect her and try and get her to live as much a normal life as possible. Jane also wanted what was best for Clementine but in a different way entirely, she wanted her to be able to fight back and protect herself because the world is no longer what it once was, and Jane didn't want Clementine to be a push-over. Jane herself was quite cynical knowing that nothing lasted forever and all that, and you know what? She's right. Look at the original group (Lee, Clementine, Kenny, Duck, Katjaa, Lilly, Carley etc) how many of them are left? Only two and possibly even one if you pick to shoot Kenny (Lilly could still be around too). Jane wanted Clementine to be able to grow up and fend for herself.
Which one of them was doing what was best for her was debatable, but both were doing what they thought was right for Clementine. Jane's was morally questionable (leaving AJ out in a car to piss Kenny off was NOT cool) but who's to say Wellington doesn't someday get invaded? It sadly happens to everyone in the end.
At first while I was playing I wasnt sure It might of been 50/50 for me but when Clem and Kenny got to wellington, It has to be Kenny. He tried everything to get them into Wellington for Clem and Alvins sake and he knew that as long as their safe, they would be happy.

Yeah, with his stupid actions he doomed the rest of the world and he killed almost everyone of them in their base, even the doctor who just wanted to safe humanity. That wasnt the first time he acted that way, but it was definetly the most stupid act he made. I mean yeah her death would have been sad and it would be no happy end (for him) but it could have saved the rest of the world. And now they are making a second game and continue their story (if Iam correct) and they kinda ruin the "happy end" with that too. I dont think I will watch or play it anytime soon, only if people call it game of year or something like that.

And then leaving her sister to die? I would do everything in my power to save my sibling and would never leave them behind like Jane did. What about Sarah? Jane wanted (virtually forced her) to leave her behind and if Clem saved her then later on Jane would refuse to try and save Sarah unless Clem insisted and even then she didnt try hard enough.
She is way more selfish than Kenny is and that is my opinion. I would always trust Kenny if i was Clem because i'd known him a lot longer than Jane.
She left her sister because her sister WANTED to die. She dragged her for four states. She couldn't do anything, they were cornered. And Sarah wasn't moving. There's a large amount of walkers about to break in and Sarah just stayed on the floor. What would you have done? Oh and btw, when prompted to grab Jane's hand or tell her to save Sarah, if you choose silent Jane risks her own life to go down and help Sarah. So Jane is Far from selfish.

Kenny hands down. If for no other reason than, Lee was his friend! Right up until AJ enters the picture. Then I think Kenny would let everyone die just to save that kid! Don't even think its malace its just him doin him. Nevermind, the answer is no one does other than Clem herself!
I'm pretty sure that whether or not you liked Kenny or Jane better, in terms of solely 'Clementine's best interest at heart', it would have to be Kenny. Whether or not you think he is arrogant, dangerous etc or hated him or not, or if you believe he did her more harm than good also putting aside all this Kenny vs Jane stuff (irrelevant to the thread topic), when it came to Clementine (the discussion of this thread), he was selfless. Even if you don't believe it did her good.
I feel like my Clem and how Lee taught her and acted in general would lean more towards Jane. But in the end, It's neither. How Clem thinks is up to you.

Jane would care more about Clementine. Is more worried about her when in trouble, Kenny is just around AJ all the time. Jane serves as an example for the child. Clementine learned a lot from her. I was disappointed from cane, instead of being 'father' who takes care of his daughter, he sent her in dangerous missions ... He let her see the terrible death of Carver. Kenny disappointing.

It doesn't matter how many people died under his care at least he tried, he isn't Superman, he's a flawed Human being. All that matters is t… morehat he's putting every fiber of his being into protecting Clementine and AJ. Hell, how many people died under Joel's care? Sarah, Tess, Sam, Henry? Yet the only thing that maters is that both still have the will go on for their girls. If a ZA did happen you would probably commit suicide if your pet died. I admire these men, they go on when there's no hope in sight and that at least deserves some respect.
Kenny's is one of self-sacrifice for two children that deserve the chance to be kids. And Jane's is one of a corpse filled building that can possibly be hoarded from a helpless family.
even tho i choose jane's ending... pretty sure it was kenny since... jane and clem haven't a lot of interactions since jane only appear like 30 mins in the game.. her role isn't that big enough and that's why i'm not happy at the same time.. and yeah i always say this before, it's rushed written...
Anyone who didn't see that at the ending where you shoot Kenny just doesn't understand what kind of person Carver was.
Jane made such a huge deal about Kenny = Carver. That was meant to trick you. Jane was Carver the entire time. It was obvious if you payed attention to her actions and her heart. It was glaringly obvious at the ending if you go with Jane as your friend, ignore how psychopathic she was and how she purposefully wanted to kill Kenny, and her & Clem's response at the end if you reject the family.
If you reject the family, Jane thanks you and Clementine repeats exactly what Carver said before. She becomes Carver. And Jane wants her to because she is also Carver.
Carver played a bigger role in Season 2 Episode 5 than most people realize.

Except for the fact that Jane lets the family in if you let the timer run out.
Only Kenny.

I'm not trying to defend RonnyRulz here, but Jane says they can stay only for the night. That's not too caring of her if you ask me but it is better than nothing.

So explain that.
Jane was pretty quick to get Clem to leave Sarah in the trailer though wasn't she? Simply because she felt Sarah couldn't be helped. She made poor Clem think AJ had died just to make a point that Kenny would get angry, she brought that on herself, she didnt need to.
Anyway its your opinion, i prefer Kenny easily over Jane. I felt Kenny cares more for Clem than Jane ever did. Both are selfish though but thats my opinion

It's caring for both sides, the family gets to stay for the night and Clementine and AJ don't have the family as a possible threat for longer than a night.

In all honesty, in terms of Clementine's best interest, I think it would be up to the player, both Kenny and Jane mostly force their own interests and ways of keeping Clementine and AJ safe, so I continue to say neither.
Only Kenny.
Jane = Carver.

I liked his character. Very interesting and dare I say complex developmental arc, but he's no doubt a shitty human being. Very evil.
He was ok. The problem i had with the game was Ellie, and the happy storybook ending.
"Jane never cared about anyone but herself"
She cares about Clem and and cared for her sister enough to drag her around four states.

Yeah, and if you go close to him and stand there a while Joel will automatically stab him.
Or he could of respected her wishes and walked away, not every game needs a fucking happy ending. I hate that shit. Its so unrealistic.

Not to be rude, but this thread is about TWD, and the characters in it.
Not The Last Of Us.
So how honestly did it get turned into such?
lol no idea.
Lol my bad, I was using Joel as an example to defend Kenny.
The only people who cared about Clem in season 2 were
Alvin, Pete, Luke, Walter, (and don't kill me for this OPINION) Tavia
I would personally add Nick to that list as well
Sure, he's kind of a dick when you first see him, but I think he quickly grows a liking to Clementine after that
Also, when Walter confronts him about what happened to Matthew, Nick specifically says "I thought he was going to shoot my friends"
And maybe I'd add Rebecca (post-episode 1) too, so we can be unpopular opinion buddies
If I had to choose out of the two, I'd say Kenny.
Then again, that might be my fanboyism coming into play of my choice.
what about Sarah?

I agree 100%, it doesn't matter how good Kenny was at caring for Clem but how hard he tried and he clearly gave it his all.
In my opinion, the endings speak for themselves.
Kenny's is one of self-sacrifice for two children that deserve the chance to be kids. And Jane's is one of a corpse filled building that can possibly be hoarded from a helpless family.
Not even a debate for me personally.

In all honesty, I had always felt that way myself about Jane.
