I didn't even know there was an option not to cut it off. Why would there have been, I didn't even look for it. As the scene was going in slow-mo I was just waiting for the dot to appear on her arm and instantly clicked on it.
But now she has a real, natural chance to live. If you wait until you find privacy, meds and a clean blade, the walker virus (or whatever the hell it is) could have already spread and then her chances of living are zero, supernaturally zero. Yes, Clem's hatchet was full of rotten blood with a lot of germs, but supposedly not whatever turns you into a walker. So, even if Sarita's arm chopping was stupidly unhigienic, it's, at least hypothetically, treatable.
She still stands a very good chance at dying here, anyway. If the herd doesn't overpower her, the gore covered blade that Clementine used to… more sever the limb sure as Hell guarantees that she'll be infected, regardless (unless, somehow, walker blood does not carry the virus). There's also the fact that they have nothing to staunch the blood, stitch/cauterize the wound or dress it. Again, a risk of infection or bleeding out is very high.
The only way she may stand a chance to live is if she runs back to the compound and begs for treatment (they may help her, as those who knew that the group were attempting an escape are already dead or switched over).
Using an un-sterilized tool to cut into flesh poses a high risk of infection; as does exposing an open wound to foreign material of any sort - and this is under normal circumstances.

In this case, this is rotting genetic material that got into her wound, and you don't believe Sarita can get a very serious infection that could kill her (not the zombie virus - but an actual infection)?
They have nothing to suture the wound closed, no tournequet to stop the flow of blood, no dressing to keep the area clean and dry and no antibiotics to fight off any natural infection that comes with amputation.
Like it or not, Sarita is living on borrowed time - whether her arm was lopped off or not.

Big difference in all those cases- no one had an open wound or ingested the walker blood; so the risk of contamination is minimal.
In Sarita's case - this is rotting genetic material getting into an open wound. A ound can become seriously infected if foreign debris of any sort gets into it.
So, yes - Sarita is at high risk of getting an infection. And with no antibiotics to fight of an infection (not to mention, nothing to close the wound/stop the blood flow), she's living off of borrowed time.
Her only real chance in surviving (provided walker blood isn't as toxic as a walker bite), is to run back to the compound and hope that the folks there can tend to her injuries.
Characters have spread the stuff all over their bodies with no issue. They have ripped open walkers and pulled through their organs while us… moreing their bare hands. Clem constantly gets walker blood all over her face. If the blood was truly so contagious people would be getting infected from it.
It's not wishful thinking. I honestly don't even care much for Sarita. Your "logic" simply does not have a lot of ground to stand on. You're simply speculating.
The very moment I saw that lurker sink it's teeth into her arm I knew chopping ot off was what I had to do,if ypu kill the walker then she's not got long to live but the same can be said about chopping it off because of blood loss however at least that way she has a chance.
I TOTALLY believe she's gonna get a serious and very probably life threatening infection. What I mean is, that if they somehow miraculously find some way to treat her (and they could, considering it's fiction), she stands a chance. And that's not even what I meant. Chopping the arm is a long shot, but at least it's taking a shot. Killing the walker is just giving up.

As soon as it went slow motion I had this stomach lurch of knowing that I had to cut it off. As soon as time slowed, I was like "I have to fucking cut it.". Judging by the amputee characters we've met so far, it was on instinct. But upon later reflection it seems as though it might not have been the right choice to make, and should it have been my choice in the first place?
Perhaps the she wouldn't become infected from cross contamination, considering that being bitten is what turns u (other than dying coz they are all infected blah) then I believe that it would have to be something in the zombies saliva. Because no blood is given from the zombie to the human through every bite, sure the zombie might bite them and some of the zombies blood could drip in but that wouldn't always happen. This doesn't mean cross contamination isn't a possibility but I think that it's feasible that sarita may live if her wound is treated. That's just what I think it could be like, coz u know ur infected but the way I see it, the reason u don't all zombify is coz ur body has enough energy to hold off the infection, but when ur bit there is a concentrated amount of the infection attacking u, which wears ur body down as it fights, but ur anti bodies can't fight it we'll enuff, instead they just hold it back for a while and that's why if u cut it off quick there's no more infection in what left of ur body, at least no more concentrated infection.
That is in no way medically accurate. Infection doesn't just come out in blood. And, it'll already be in the severed hand because it was bit… moreten by a walker. It will cross contaminate, killing her, and the choice will most likely affect how Kenny will react to how you reacted. He'll either thank you for trying to save her (cutting it off) or scold you for letting her die (killing the walker).
Another thing, if Sarita does miraculously survive that bite, and you cut the arm off, Carlos is dead, so who is gonna fix up her arm?
It's absolutely stupid not to do so! What's the point of killing the zombie?!!! This way Sarita might survive, it worked with Ranjit. Why wouldn't it work with her?!!
if sarita gets infected because of the axe being unclean then that means clementine should be infected depending on wether or not u chose to help kenny when carver was beating the sh** out of him, coz if u do help u get a cut on ur cheek then later on u smear walker guts on ur face, so i think u get my point.

I cut her arm too,but the more I think about it,the more I regret it.Clem used a weapon whic was coverd in blood.Blood from the walkers,so we don't know if that would even work normally, but we were surrounded by zombies and when she screamed I knew she would get eaten right there in the next episode.

I chopped it off, Kenny can bitch at me as much as he wants, even though I tried to save her life.
It's better to risk her dying than making sure she dies.
I'f i was in that situation i would have fucked up, i completely forgot about cutting off the bitten limb and i was prepared to kill Sarita so she didn't turn xD
Well, if she doesn't, she won't survive either due to the blood loss. I just hope Kenny precietes the chice 'cause you know, you are trying to save her afterall...

Reason: My Clem is pretty only bonded with Kenny and if Kenny lost Sarita, I think he'd lose his mind.
I have a REAL bad feeling about this. I cut off Sarita's hand, Carlos is dead and I have a feeling that Kenny is going to lose it.

(After reading the main title of thread)
DON'T YOU DARE WALK AWAY FROM ME LEE!
Kenny isn't lucky with chosing life partnersTelltale likes killing them or what?

Clem could cauterize the stump if she still has her lighter

I understand what people are saying about the walker blood on the axe, I really do, but...
What people seem to forget is that Clem got an open cut (Determinent) and rubbed guts/blood all over her... even on her cut.
Hell, some of Kenny's guts/blood probably got through his bandage a bit.
This makes me think that Sarita does have a chance to survive, thoughts?
Fun Fact- Sarita's scream is actually Beatrice's scream for Episode 3 of Season 1 if you choose to not shoot her.
I STABBED SARITA IN THE HEAD... MUAHAHAHAHHA... Actually... I have two playthroughs.. So I did both.
Or Luke... or Sarah.

I cut it off out of reflex. But after thinking about it for some time, maybe it wasn't the smartest choice.

Did you just call him "Ranjit"?
i also chopped ...☺☺☻☻
Whatever.
