to take a crack at Clem's response (obviously this assumes certain choices made throughout s1&2):
"So you think the traumatic things you've seen and the losses you've endured are so much worse than anyone else? I saw Shaun get killed on the farm, right after you saved Duck, and then didn't even try to help Lee save him. I had to watch as Doug was torn apart at the drug store, because only Lee was there to help Carly and I couldn't do anything. I watched as you killed Larry. You didn't even consider if he might not be dead. When we were escaping the barn and Lee struggled with Danny, you didn't help him. Lily did. I was standing right there when Lily killed Carly. I didn't get a chance to be with my family all this time. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. I had to look at my dead parents staggering around the streets outside the Marsh House, but I couldn't do anything to help them or end their misery, because Lee had already passed out and no one else was there. I had to drag him someplace safe by myself. You didn't even bother to go with him to look for me. I had to shoot Lee to keep him from turning. I had to watch as Omid was killed. I watched as Walter just let Nick get killed by a walker. I was right there when Carver murdered Walter. If it wasn't for me, he would have killed Alvin there, too... a lot of good that did in the end. I watched as you killed Carver. That's two people who weren't walkers that you've killed. I saw Carlos get shot right in front of me, and then get torn to pieces by walkers. I tried to save Sarita, because YOU weren't there. You want to blame me for not being there for her, but you've never been there for me. It was always someone else: Lee, Christa, Omid, Molly, Pete, Luke, Jane... hell, even Chuck saved me once... but you... I've never been able to count on you for anything."
Ok, season 1 he had to deal with the guilt of not helping Shaun, killing Larry, his son being bitten, his wifes suicide, and the impending d… moreeath of his best friend, before ending up utterly alone. That itself is more than any of the other characters. He was a front row spectator to all of that, Clem lost her parents, sure. But never saw any of it. Neither did Lee. His family died. But he didnt see it. Then season 2 starts, Christa loses Omid, and blames Clem. Shes still harsh and cold 16 months later...so far its the closest another character has been to suffering the same sort of loss as Kenny.
Then we meet Kenny, he has survived what season 1 threw at him, and hes still going, still fighting. Still more or less as he was, but with a few cracks. Hes even starting a new life with a new woman. Then this group comes along...heres Clem. A reminder of what hes lost, but hes attatched to her, shes family, so hes sticking with her.
But Clem brin… [view original content]
I get what your saying but since we got Kenny back he seems to be slowly losing it. For some of us we only did the exact same thing he did to Lilly's father in meat locker in season 1. So why was it ok for him to do this for the greater good of the group but not for Clem? I get he's hurting and anger is part of grief but it seems to me like every time we disagree with him he looks more and more like he's just waiting for the perfect excuse to throw it back in our face. In my opinion he's a broken man that's still trying to command a group that has never had any respect for him. It's heartbreaking to see how much hurt he has gone through but he can't blame Clem for it after he and Lee told her to always do what she thought was right.
To be honest, the moment he gave Clem that death glare, I knew he was ready to explode. Pretty much all you can do is brace for the blast as best you could, knowing it wouldn't be enough. Yes it was harsh, yes it obviously crossed a line, but at the same time he wasn't without a good reason to be pissed off. Clem just happened to be an unfortunate victim of proximity.
On the other hand, I would've been more worried had he been quiet. Remember Walter and how he leaves Nick to die later if you don't pick the right response?
No. The times I lashed out at people, I WAS WRONG, and it was not just excused because I was upset about something. When I realized how cruel I was being, I apologized. Kenny's determinant apology is half-assed and in no way proportional to the amount of wrong he spewed. Whether a person's circumstances are understandable or not does not excuse bad behavior. Kenny was entirely out of line and had no business taking it out on an 11 year old who made a decision in the heat of the moment. I will not excuse Kenny's behavior because it is inexcusable. End of story.
So you're telling me at no point in your life, you haven't taken out anger, or frustration on the wrong person. Ever?
I have, on many an oc… morecasion, I'm remorseful after, but that never fixes what was said in the heat of the moment. I even lost a best friend this way...I didn't learn though. I still do it when I'm pushed beyond breaking point. WE ALL DO!
Uh.. Kenny didn't really lash out at anyone when Katjaa and Duck died. He just wanted to be alone and not talk about it. He was fairly okay … morewith the boat getting stolen but even then when he bitches about Ben he got put in his place and didn't completely explode. He didn't really freak out more than usual when his mountain lodge group was slaughtered all because of Rebecca; nor was his reaction any more out of the ordinary when they are kidnapped and taken prisoner by Carver. Yes, Kenny has always had a temper but he's never really gone over the limit of what his temper is. I would say that Sarita dying and him snapping because of all of the losses he's been faced with is long overdue.
I wouldn't say it's Clem's fault that Sarita dies but she is a kid and kids make mistakes and sometimes adults snap and yell at them for that they did "wrong" to scold them. You can't coddle and baby Clem forever. Yes, it might not have been the best way to … [view original content]
That is true... which is why I wish the game would let me decline to associate with him anymore. But nooooooooooo. We need the emotionally unstable man for some reason. Let's force the 11 year old girl to be our mediator. Doesn't matter when she says she doesn't want to. It's better for us, so she has to do it. Who cares if we are responsible for all the shit she is dealing with now? Drama!
I just don't understand why people are surprised at this point. It's Kenny. This is what he does. Time and time again, this is what he does. Unfairly blaming other people for his own misfortune is his bread and butter.
Yes, but he lost her either 5 minutes before, or was still losing her. Hell, when Nick lost Pete, he killed Matthew because he wasn't thinki… moreng straight... its not like he lost her hours before, or days or weeks. He had lost her, right then and there. They've all had losses, though you must remember that this is doubly traumatic for Kenny, he lost his family. Then managed to move on from that, made a new life with Sarita. He was happy. Then these guys disrupt his life, get him involved in their troubles. Because of Clementine he goes with them, and almost gets beaten to death, and loses his girl. Because of Clementine.
Because god knows, if she wasnt with them, they wouldnt have stayed with Luke and co.
So yeah, I understand why he's pissed. This group have ruined his life, for the second time.
Well, they gave you the reasons. Someone needs to talk him into helping the baby and Clem is the closest one to him. I could buy that. What I would have appreciated, though, is some kind of assurance from someone in the group that if anything goes wrong, they'll be right outside the tent, ready to jump in.

That would have helped. I still don't understand why they felt having such an emotionally unstable person with them was a necessary thing, baby or no. It's not like Kenny did anything beyond calming Rebecca down, but there's no way the rest of the group would know that in advance, so... Yeah. My gripe is that I'm just sick of being forced to deal with Kenny, but we have to for the story. The second there's a "Fuck this. I'm out" choice, I'm mashing that button.

Kenny fans are very loyal, i notice.
See, if we can forgive ben, nick shooting matthew, the majority of us hopefully with luke, i guess i can forgive kenny too.

I didnt expect him to get over it, just not take it out on Clementine. He wasnt just being angry either, he was deliberately trying to hurt her. Thats what made me upset.

Worse than Clementine, a child, losing her parents, seeing that theyve been turned, getting kidnapped, having to shoot her surrogate father as she watches him die, watching another surrogate father die trying to protect her, having her surrogate mother get attacked and disappear, get bitten by a dog she tried to be befriend, almost die from the bite and thats not counting everything that went on with the Carver group. Wait, are people seriously giving Kenny shit for what he said to Clem? I mean, yes, he was pretty hard on her, but can you really blame him? Like most, I chose to cut Sarita's arm off, so to me his reaction was completely understandable. Even though I don't like what he said to Clem, after everything the guy's been through, I can't fault him at all. First his kid gets bit, and he sees it as punishment for not helping Shawn, whilst wrestling with that guilt his wife kills herself right in front of him, leaving him to put down Duck or watch his best friend(in my playthrough Lee and Kenny were Bros) put down his son. He tries to honor the decision he made with his family to get to a safe place on a boat, only to find out there are none left. He later finds out it all happened because of some scared punkass kid(I like Ben, but he screwed up so much, there's no denying that.) They find a boat only to have it snatched away by another group that he had thought was on their side. His best friend gets bit after Clem goes missing, then Ben is about to die, so Kenny stays with him, because deep down I believe he felt a bit bad for how he treated Ben. Somehow, the badass made it out, but we still have no idea what he was up to before he found Sarita and the rest of his group. Sarita was obviously the only light/hope he could cling on to, and things seem to be going good, even great at one point when Clem shows up. Not to mention that he does in fact calm down later, sure he doesn't really apologize, but that's never really been Kenny's style. Imo, he shows he's sorry through his actions and tone of voice that he later uses with Clem. Bottom line, I'm shocked that people are getting mad at him over this, Kenny is a fucking soldier.
Without getting into this Kenny vs Luke thing, Luke's group really fucked with Kenny's original group.
Nick killed Matthew for no reason, and then Luke's group brought Carver's group (that was looking for revenge, wich Kenny's group had nothing to do about it) to the lodge, resulting in Walter's death and later Sarita's.
I'm not saying that the cabin group is "evil" or something, but they did some messed up shit with Kenny's group, accidentaly or not.

The one argument against Kenny is that everyone has lost people, lost family. But Kenny is the only one who has lost a child. Most men, when asked. Say they feel they have an obligation to be the protector. Kenny sees himself in having failed to protect his family. Not only did his wife and child die. He feels he failed them.
So yes, his losses are on another level.

I know thats Kenny all over but it makes me mad everytime. I still havent gotten over his anti-bro speech form season one lol
^This.
If Clem said all that to him, that would be amazing. Its so true that he never really put himself out for her which even Chuck did.
I don't blame him for lashing out; I just wish there was an option to have Clementine lash back at him.
