Why Season 2 Finale WILL Be Better Than Season 1 Finale

I don't like them. The first one was alright IMO, the second one was horrible (left the cinema before the movie was over), the third one was a boring mess of loud noises (saw it on Blu-Ray).
Didn't watch the fourth one and I don't intend to. The Transformers movies are 'dead to me'.

Just to be sure, you're not comparing the second season of Walking Dead to Michael Bay's Transformers, are you?

Fast paced and enjoyable? Just to get some perspective...what are your thoughts on Michael Bay movies ie Transformers?

  • Yes. It should have been brought up in episode 4 though.

  • Well. I suppose I'm the only one who doesn't care at all what happened with Christa's Baby.

  • Well If Clem was treated like an 11 year old, Can you imagine how the game would play out? You would be kept safe and hardly have to do anything.

I think there is certainly a SLIGHT element of unrealism since Clementine has to do everything. Lee was a able bodied male adult. Like I said Telltale has done a good job of making Clementine act like an adult.

  • I think I speak for most of us when I say...#SAVEMIKE!

  • Season 2 didn't develop its story, so there's no finale. Season 1 concluded Lee's story. Going into it, everyone knew Lee would die (although some were in denial), but people also knew that Lee was racing the clock and weren't sure if he would last long enough to save Clem. It was a tense, emotional, and strong finale.

Season 2 "finale" will be some random things that set up Season 3. Probably some people die for no reason. You're right that anything could happen, because there's so little groundwork. There's the shootout cliffhanger and maybe Wellington. And then some random crazy thing will happen just because. The Season 2 finale could just as easily be Season 3 Episode 1 because there's almost nothing to conclude.

The season 2 finale definitely won't be better than season 1 finale. At best it will setup season 3 to be better than season 2 was. But if you don't like finales that bring closure, wrap up loose ends, and conclude the story, then maybe you'll like the season 2 finale more because it will just be random stuff that could have happened in any episode, except more extreme to make people interested for season 3.

  • My reaction exactly...

And I hear ya, it's no secret that season 1 and 2 are widely different in terms of narrative structure. Where as season 1 was more moderately paced and relied a lot more on characters than circumstances, season 2 is fast paced and brutal. I personally enjoy playing as Clementine more than Lee, probably for the same reason I thought the Winter chapter of The Last of Us was the most engaging section of that game. Controlling someone who has less understanding of evil and is more vulnerable is far more interesting than controlling someone who is "survival badass."

With that being said, I still hold to the ideal that Clementine's story arc needs to close with this next episode.

I really care about clemi she is the best, but I like the group but yeah who will survive, I hope clemi !!!, and if I need to chose between mike are bonnie are Luke/Kenny well I need to think really good because I like them all (my opinion) #clemi

  • I can almost sign everything of this, apart from the last sentence. Whereas I do think that this fifth episode should offer some closure, I would love to play again as Clementine in the future.
If there would be a fourth season, I'd have no problem to play a different character in the third and maybe have the narrative shift back to Clem in the fourth season, where we could play an older Clem (14-18 years). I don't want Granny Clem, though. Would be weird :P

Regarding the difference between season one and two, those games have a hugely different atmosphere. In season one, you had a lot more of slow, quiet moments. For example, you had the farm in episode 2, the train in episode 3, the house in episode 4. Every episode offered some place where you can 'rest'. In season two, ever since the group left the ski lodge, there's been not a place to rest at all. The plot moves at an incredibly high pace; I think in the first season, it'd have taken 5 episodes to end the carver Arc (which ended after three episodes with the new pacing). It's partly due to a reduced gameplay factor and partly due to the fact that people are much more hardened after two years of living in an apocalypse.

I love both games. Season one offered an experience I'll probably never have again. I was so immersed in the game I could not stop playing. My first playthrough was on an iPad in the Plane at Night, and it was incredibly awesome. My heart was running wild.
The second season is more fun, though, in my opinion. Now you can argue wether that's bad or good, but I enjoy it more than I enjoyed the first one (in a weird way). And it's much much more fun replaying as well.

  • I dont like ending seasons w/o closure but finding out what happened to Christas baby is not siginificant at all. Since it was not with Christa and Clem, we can assume that it died. None the less, pretty sure Job Stauffer (sp?) answered a question and said we will find out.

  • Oh PUHHLLEEEEZE with the whole "didnt develop a story part." Seriously, S2 was fine. Random things occuring? You realize you could argue every single thing that happens in this game is random by that logic . . .

  • Well, she IS 11, but the fact that she is treated like an adult takes away the immersion and adds to the whole unrealistic part of the game (That Clem is badly written is another story).

I mean, think about it: If you are Luke and want to check out the bridge ahead, who would you take with you? Your healthy, strong young male pal, or some preteen girl you recently met?

  • What? You could not be more wrong dude. Clem is just a relaly mature 11 year old. Yes they characterized her differently than most 11 yr olds but just to help the story.

  • Isn't that Polish? :D

What I find the less credible is I didn't hear a single "Kurwa !!!" this far.

  • Polish origin, but it's really a pan-slavic word :)

  • No. They crammed her personality into an adult just for the sake of the story, which is hamfisted, clumsy and bad writing, but that lands in the fact that we had to play Clem in the first place. Because you can't really have the kind of good, realistic and full interactions with people when you are a kid. So, TTG put an adult personality in Clem's body, simply put.
