Luke in Episode 5
So yeah..... Fuck.
We did learn a bit more about Luke. It was his birthday. He was 26, turned 27. He majored in art history, minored in agriculture (did that to make his dad happy, he was a farm boy after all).
And then he died. Fuck. The livestream that I saw tried to help Luke, so I don't know about the other option to cover him. I did like that his final act was saving Clem from that last walker. Too bad it had to drag him under too.
All that build up to a Kenny versus Luke decision and it didn't happen. Geez.
I'm a little pissed. A little in denial. And a whole lotta sad.
Luke, you deserved so much better than what you got. So much fucking better.
Rest in Peace.

To be fair his death wasn't that bad. I actually liked it.
He was set to pseudo-oppose Kenny, but they killed him and allowed another character who has all the right reasons to oppose Kenny to do so.
Sucks what happened though he was rather cool and I was almost thinking about choosing him.
No one expected Luke to die and the tension to immediately shift to Kenny vs Jane and become 100x worse. It was an absolutely amazing plot twist, in my opinion at least. Luckily I got to keep Kenny alive or I probably would have cried. A lot. Almost cried over everything else.
The [Help] choice was the better death, IMO. He got to save Clem one last time. And he was still fighting as he was being dragged down.
The [Cover] choice was traumatizing. Seeing him just floating there, lifeless..... that was awful.
Luke's death was phenomenal. Clementine trying to safe her but failing. It continued the tone from episode 4, which was beautiful. To be honest, the beginning of the episode felt like an extension of Amid the Ruins.
Yeah, I wasn't expecting Luke to die at the point that he did. End of the episode, sure, but midway? No. And the whole Kenny vs. Jane thing got real ugly real fast. I don't think it would have gotten so bad if it was Kenny and Luke. Things kind of spiraled even more downhill after he died.
Kenny and Luke just disagreed on everything. Kenny and Jane, on the other hand, both viewed each other as dangerous to Clementine. I honestly kind of wanted to just kill both of them off for fighting like that, but I think Jane deserved it much more for purposely starting the deathmatch.
IKR? That was so messed up, what she did at the end. I always resisted liking Jane when she first appeared in episode 3. It's nice to know my instincts weren't totally off.
But yeah. I'm still kind of ticked off that there wasn't a Kenny vs. Luke choice somewhat. Wouldn't have wanted it to turn out the way the Kenny vs. Jane choice did, but I wanted something regarding these two characters together.
Yep. The episode was amazing, but at some point I had the impression that they cut off the stuff from Amid the Ruins because otherwise there would have been not enough story left for No Going Back.
I felt like the first couple scenes of this episode was originally supposed to be in Amid the Ruins. Mainly the bandage scene that was in the episode 4 teaser.

But when the episode started it felt like a completely different game. Mainly due to the writing it felt different and like my choices mattered.
I thought he had a great death, and I was nearly in tears after it happened. He deserved better....
The worst part of his death though, was that he and Kenny were finally getting past their differences. That was proven by Kenny's reaction to his death. In Amid the Ruins, he wouldn't have cared. But he was genuinely upset about his death, due to the amazing campfire scene. One of the many reasons why this episode is the greatest of them all.

Yeah, while I'm glad the big pizza vs ice cream thing wasn't what EVERYONE expected, something involving Kenny and Luke at some point in the episode would have been nice.
That campfire scene. Breathtaking.
Yeah, I kind of liked Kenny's comment on Luke's art history major. "Sounds like you majored in running a coffee shop." Or something like that, I'm paraphrasing. It was funny.
It was so perfect, like how things were supposed to be. A great way to give some last, great finishing touches to those amazing characters.

Same. I kept expecting him to just pop up and be like "omg hai betches" but then he didn't. Then I was expecting to see him as a walker on top of the ice, but that didn't happen. THANK GOD.
Oh man... The cover choice was the first one I watched and I cried. He was just... floating... lifelessly... FUCK I'M CRYING AGAIN

Same. Here I am thinking that we're gonna choose between Kenny and Luke and then he unexpectedly dies. My favourite character fucking died. I was crying so hard.

I know. He just lost his sister and his companions. And I felt bad every time Kenny hit him, but the moment that he fucking shot Clem, any sympathy that I had for Arvo was gone.
Luke might pull a Kenny in Season 3.
Yeah. Nothing excuses shooting a kid. Bonnie and Mike lose sympathy for going along with Arvo after that, even if they were more afraid of Kenny.
Oh my god, I didn't think of that! He's going to turn into a walker under water! T_T Noooo....
...I think it might be just a teeny bit harder for him to do that. :P

No. This is not how things were meant to go! Luke was not meant to die and Bonnie and Mike were not meant to abandon us. I wanted to go with them.

Yeah, I was disappointed in Bonnie and Mike for that. Which is funny, since I really liked them in Episode 4. Oh, how our loyalties shift.
I can't imagine that Bonnie would stick with Arvo after that. And Mike seems like he would stick with her over Arvo. Hopefully the two of them ditched him the first chance that the got.
