Dude, the xbox version comes out on the 27th. It says downloadable but it has so for like a week, it always does that before the episode actually comes out.

But yeah, it comnes out on 26th for pc and US playstation, and wednesday for xbox.

That's why the red sign is next to the episode name.

No spoilers in the main post. It's edited by mods and has official info there. So yeah, its 27th. :)

  • Yep, having the same issue. Get the update of death. Get to start screen, it says "connecting" for about a minute, then it goes black and freezes the entire console and has to be shut off manually. It is possible to play offline once you've cleared the cache but not only do your choices not register for the community, you can't download any new episodes. I haven't downloaded episode 4 yet so I can't even play that, even though it's been out for a while.

This is the second time I've been screwed over because I decided to buy the season pass. The first time was the WAU incident where the pass didn't work for a number of days, and now you can't download them without buying them from the xbox marketplace or another device entirely. If I didn't get the pass, I could easily pay for it in the marketplace and then cancel the update once I load the game. Now, the only way to play anything I haven't already downloaded is to pay for it twice. Unless I'm wrong and you can't get ep.4 from the market place and then cancel the update, but I don't see what would prevent you from being able to do that. This isn't an issue for most people because they've already downloaded ep.4 but if this isn't fixed by the time ep. 5 comes out, it's a major issue for a lot of people.

Not to self: download episodes as soon as they come out (even if you aren't going to play them immediately), then don't get the season pass and pick and choose what episodes you want to play. That's really the only safe way to not get screwed out of your money.

@brockheinz: It seems to be an Xbox Live issue after the last update ran, either the update screwed up connectivity to Xbox Live and Telltale's servers, most likely it crashes while trying to authenticate the games content and season pass. If you disconnect your Xbox from the internet/network it seems to be work fine first time every time. As soon as you place it back on the internet/network then it crashes the console.

Clearing the cache, deleting the game and reloading will not work as it works fine when you are disconnected from the Xbox Live network. I am figuring plenty of people will have the same exact issue if not everyone for that matter.

[Edit] Yup multiple thread already popped up:

Not that it helps but it shows that it is not a console related issue but rather a patch or update issue.

I had unplugged my internet, but I had not tried to officially disconnect from the network in xbox settings. Thank you very much for this detail.

    Did it and game launches.

Only problem is we won't be able to download episode 5 through the game. Tomorrow as soon as it's available I'll download it from XBOX games' search engine, install then disconnect from network, and hope to god it will play fine.

Thread: TWD Season 2 (Xbox360) crash please help

I just got an update for my Walking dead season 2 today, and now it freezes upon starting. It will be on the Title screen, and after it says "Please wait" at the bottom, it goes to a pitch black screen and the console crashes/freezes. Any way to solve this? I really want to play the episode when it comes out tomorrow.

  • Yeah I was thinking of doing the exact thing, so lets hope it works or they bring out another about. I will sit tight and wait for an update don't want to corrupt my save files.

Okay, as figured out by larch http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/80687/xbox-360-game-freezes-my-xbox-after-last-update (and this is probably what obidan23 meant too ?)

You can have the update installed and still launch your game BUT you need (as update is already installed, cache uncleared) to be disconnected from your network in XBOX settings (unplug internet won't do, you need to go in console settings and disconnect from network) next time you launch the game and it will launch fine, I just tried it.

This means tomorrow we won't be able to download episode 5 through the game interface (since the game launches only if you're not connected, not connected means no download content, and in order to re-connect to the network you need to go back in the settings which forces you to exit the game), but we can still download from the Xbox games' search engine (search walking dead and all available games/episodes from season 1 and 2 appear as results), and most probably install (I don't see how the issue we have would prevent installation).

Then after episode 5 is installed we would disconnect from network, the game should launch normally, and we hope to god episode 5 plays fine this way...

  • I'm getting the same problem. I'm gonna post a discussion in the Support section so hopefully we can get this fixed.

  • Same here they better fix it before tomorrow >_<

  • Backed up my save files to the cloud just in-case.

  • don't want to corrupt my save files

    Damn, didn't think of that.
