Season 2 was a bit more all over the place because episode 3 and 4 kind of derailed what I assume they were trying to accomplish with the characters and the plot. Episode 5 definitely tried to mend the flaws of season 2. Now season 2 might have not been as strong as season 1 and it had some bad moments but I still stand by it when I say it was still a good season overall and an enjoyable one some of the scenes in episode 5 were amazing. But I don't like it when people claim season 1 was light years better than S2. Both had major problems even if S1 might have been better. But I believe after the direction they took in episode 5 telltale is very much capable of making a great season 3.
I didn't love episode 5, but I enjoyed it and thought it was a step in the right direction in some places, seriously though, season 2 apologists need to get a grip and be more open to criticism.

I can agree with some of your points, such as how some deaths just felt really off this season. Like they didn't take the time and effort to properly handle some characters. But damn, I enjoyed the hell out of this season.
HOWEVER, I will say this: For the next couple of Telltale games I will wait until all 5 episodes are out before I start playing. The wait between episodes would be fine if it was a fixed 4 week period, but with TWD:S2 and TWAU some episodes took way too long for me to get released.
Not to mention the fact that people who buy the game when the final episode is released get a bigger discount than people who pre-purchase it (I got 20% off I believe, where as it's 60% off now...) - I think I'll just wait next time.
Okay, I 100000% respect you and your opinion and decision. I salute you on being brave enough to even voice something so far left on what ha… mores turned into a man eat man forums.
I was a huge Luke fan. Huge. So I was obviously in bits when he died. But I will keep playing as long as this game includes Clementine. The should rename it The Walking Clementine, because if she aint in it, neither is my heart (or money).
I just want to say some things that may change your mind or at least give you some food for thought.
This world, the world of the walkers, is CRAZY. No one is safe, Lee wasn't safe. This is the only most realistic view of this world. Say what you will. This world had to be depicted this way. People had to die. Yes, some people may die by drowning, but that's just it, this is a world full of risks and as a player we have GOT to accept that to enjoy the game.
Also, I learned being on these forums, theorising, it just creates… [view original content]
And yet people will riot if something happens to Clementine ... Not trying to start something but you mention realism and that is something that could happen rather easily. A little girl could easily fall in this situation, especially now while she is taking care of a kid.
Telltale will make a good game regardless of what character is in it. I just hope they aren't simply keeping her around as a fan-service as the quality of the game will definitely crumble if that becomes the case.

Point taken! It's as Jane said, everyone's luck runs out eventually. I'm just saying Clem's should be lucky forever.
Okay, seriously, through, she's the reason everyone we met died in the first place. Like it or not, this is Clementine's story. Everyone died for her, for her to develop or move forward in some way. Yes, it's a tad unrealistic how she can make it out with an infant, but this is a story abou how the ZA changed Clem. So, this means people must die, even when it seems unnecessary, for her character development.
That's one thing we have to congratulate Telltale on, the fact that Clem lost people this episode, but one was a death, Jane/kenny are determinant deaths. The rest was literally people betraying her. If they move in this direction from now on, I think it will help balance the realism and the fact Clem seems invincible.

Yeah, I know but for me it just felt like...Luke's death was so crappy ;_; and the fact he was actually going to previously live longer than that [or you had the chance to save him from what some cut audio implied] just has me down in the dumps. I mean if it really came down to it, I'd rather he'd at least gotten that determinant status like Kenny so I could've thought 'okay, alright, maybe him and Kenny are still alive out there somewhere over the rainbow, even just for a little' but with Jane I just didn't feel anything big in that decision with her when it came to the thing with Kenny. She's introduced in Episode 3 with very little dialogue, and you only really have Episode 4 to bond with this woman before the finale episode appears. Even though that's got a lot of development with Jane in 'No Going Back' it feels a little strange when you've not known this character from the beginning [as if say, Lee instead met Clementine way into Episode 3 briefly instead of the first one] and didn't expect for Jane to be returning this season.
So when it comes to the whole thing goes down with her and Kenny...well it's kind of like this, when you thought there was going to be the whole ice cream pizza thing for so long and it's building up to it, to the point the story has little parts structured around it at least in foreshadowing terms, and then suddenly the ice cream gets knocked off the table and someone puts a cookie there.
I guess that's why I got disappointed and really failed to get absorbed into the last section of the episode because it happens at such short notice and in the finale too. Like, if Lee suddenly died before he got to Clementine and you played as Omid for the rest of the episode who's only been present a little while, kind of like that I guess, although it's hard to think of an example without using a playable character there, but, basically when you think somebody who isn't a key player becomes the key player to the last sections of the story and previous one is removed who's been there through it all [in that Season] that's what really threw me off and made me struggle to enjoy it. You understand what I'm trying to say right?
I know people die in tragic ways and sometimes they're just sudden and I love they do that stuff. But those circumstances it just didn’t feel like it worked for Luke. And I have felt like that for other characters too. Say Sarah for example, her first death I wasn’t bothered with because it made sense with her character being broken and Clementine failing to convince her, [along what Carver said about the weak too] and actually made me really sad, but the second one with the deck collapsing and her getting trapped I didn’t like as much. And after how Episode 5 went, it’s possible, like Ben, they could’ve still kept her on until that last episode. Even if Sarah died then in the shootout or the lake or went off with Bonnie and Mike and Arvo, something would’ve been better than the deck.
So there is the thing on realism yes, but it doesn’t always mean something will always work or every fan will always agree with the decisions made…and I guess, I’m just one of those people. I simply just didn’t like what they did.
I guess that’s why I’m kind of scared that if we play as another character in the next season, and Clem ends up dying in a really bad way, or other characters or the plot does something too unpredictable again like what I mention, I don’t think I’d be able to enjoy it and I’m afraid of getting disappointed again. Season 1 never did that to me, there were times where I went ‘aw dammit’ like Carley for example, but for the most part when a character died I got sad and emotional, not annoyed. Even when Lee gets bit, it happens in Episode 4 and you get time to accept it and character accepts he’s on a timer to save this girl who’s like a daughter to him, and it hinting the built up with teaching Clem how to shoot to where she would eventually learn how to survivor on her own, and it worked.
I do understand what you're trying to say, and I thank you for that [and for not trying to kill me lol]. Although for me personally I just don't know I can enjoy another season, at least to even consider buy it ;_;
But um yeah, sorry for going on so much about that XD I really am a gamer for storylines, so when something gets me down or I don't agree with something, I can't help but pick at it. Even just in general I love analysing things in detail. That must be why it hit me so hard, I was so sure he'd make it at least to the end like Kenny I was willing to bet my kidney on it.

If I am going to skip buying Season 3, it would be because I want all the episodes to be released and because I don't want to feel sad and depressed just yet.
Not everyone who doesn't agree with the criticism and loves season two is an apologist, you know. Just sayin'. You should accept other peoples' opinions.
I didn't love episode 5, but I enjoyed it and thought it was a step in the right direction in some places, seriously though, season 2 apologists need to get a grip and be more open to criticism.
No it wasnt poor writing. They wanted to get away from Kenny since they didnt get along with him. Mike also shows empathy towards Arvo. It was a very good plot twist.
Do you do the same with films? Or anything, if it doesn't pan out how YOU wanted it? I actually feel quite sorry for you...
or I don't agree with something
Well sorry again, but it's not your story. Whether you agree or not doesn't really matter now does it. The fact it got you 'so down', just shows how well it was written. It gave the emotional impact it was intended too. Achievement successful for Telltale.
From reading all the comments about how a certain character "deserved" a better death scene, I get the feeling you are all missing the point. If you watched the last playing dead, one of the writers said that they want to keep things more realistic (even if it's a zombie apocalypse game.) Not everyone will get a heroic death, and they might die when you least expect it. That's exactly how life is.
Not everyone who doesn't agree with the criticism and loves season two is an apologist, you know. Just sayin'. You should accept other peoples' opinions.
I'm putting myself out of the technical mindset and back into my emotional one. Also I'd like to point out I was spoiled about Luke dying ages before I played so I had more time to prepare and accept the fact he wasn't the 'ice cream', so I'm throwing that fact away from my mind right now too.
And now I see what you're saying. I felt NO emotional connection in the Kenny kill Jane moment, I only felt worried for what Kenny was about to do. So yeah, I agree there. Luke would have been way better cause a. we knew him since episode one b. he bonded to Clem about Lee, and is the only one other than Kenny to know about him and c. he is the only one other than Kenny Clem cracks jokes with. It would have been more even ground for the two of them thus resulting in a technically harder decision. It does feel last minute.
But just reimagine the scenes from when Clem regains consciousness to the critical kill moment, and replace Luke with Jane. The thing is, he wasn't emotionally unstable enough to do what Jane did or match Kenny in that sense. He isn't manipulative and mean like Jane was in the truck. He isn't like Jane. Thus, he could never ever have matched Kenny in a sense that Clem alone would seem like a plausible option.
Yes, the fact that Luke was given a chance, according to the audio sucks so much, but in my head, it would suck way more if they had to break Luke down further to make him as psycho as Kenny was to match him for this ''same but not the same'' choice. I'm thankful we have a nice memory of the innocent, 'never the bad seed' farm boy who could do no wrong. It's a whole lot better than how Jane, if she died, will be remembered.
I get what you're saying, and resonate with a lot of it. The change for the build up choice feels choppy and that we have been cheated for Luke's lifespan, but I feel like once we get season three, it'll probably make sense. I hope :P
Sarah's death bothered me, for the reasons you said, and how it was NEVER mentioned again. She died like an extra or something. But I guess that's what the entire cabin group was, for Clems character development and nothing else. That's what it feels like. She could have pulled a Ben in the end but I guess she was more broken than he was, weaker than him, that even to make it to the end was a struggle. I like how Luke died like a hero. He died refusing help. refusing any assistance to prevent the deaths of any more of his friends. If you go back for him, he dies taking a walker off you. It's better than Nick's deaths. Both of them!
Hey, a lot of us here just need to accept the fact that we all don't think these games are a work of art! And THAT'S OKAYYYY, it's what creates discussion here other than the dumb 'my decision was better than yours lol'.
I'll have to keep playing, to keep Clem alive, to hope she stays alive. Her story, her adventure, no matter who dies in what way, will always intrigue me. Above all the characters, Clem's story is most valuable to me, and no matter what, I'll be here to see it through. I honestly feel like she's my daughter, so as her mom I gotta be there, no matter the heartbreak, no matter how many pathetic deaths we get and no matter how quick those deaths are.
if you're not going to enjoy it, that's fiIIiiiiIiiIne!! To all the folks on here, it's okay to have an opinion! I'm gonna say thank you for being there the many times I was backing Luke up on something hahah I love to analyse too, but I'm gullible as hell and I'll take whatever they give me and enjoy it XD I guess the loss of Luke will be hard on us, but it'll take time. It'll be okay

...okay it's fine that you didn't like the episode that much but I find it ridiculous that you stop playing the game in total because of something that didn't happen the way you wanted. Maybe it is best for you to not play season 3....
I didn't love episode 5, but I enjoyed it and thought it was a step in the right direction in some places, seriously though, season 2 apologists need to get a grip and be more open to criticism.
Hahaha, thank you for actually reading ALL of that! Just here to spread some realism and love, far left opinions tend to get random bits of dislike, we all gotta spread some joy here seeing as that episode killed joy :P
Season 3 comes 2015, telltale sayed. I hope that its gonna have a sad ending; Clem dies, and sees Lee, Family, Kenny, Old Group: Luke, Nick, Carley... Or Clem would be a adult next time? Its just sounds stupid if its season 3 and you find a group and they die and its sad and Clem is alive. Its just, no. Gimme me feedback! It must have something NEW like no same thing again
I'm not sure a choice between saving Kenny and saving Luke could have had nearly the same weight. This choice worked because it came down to a fight; you have to ask yourself if you're prepared to murder Kenny to save Jane, and that worked because both were culpable. I don't think Luke was flawed enough to make a decision like that work, if it's Kenny tries to murder him for no good reason then you aren't given a strong enough reason to side with Kenny. By leaving you with only 2 broken characters you end up with a couple of hugely difficult choices.
A better death scene , means a death that has weight to it and feels like a satisfying ending arc for that character, this story is not realistic when it comes to story or even characters, a story needs to have characters, and if those characters have an unfulfilled arc, do something with them, this was the biggest problem with Amid the Ruins.

I won't judge you if you won't play Season Three, it's YOUR decision. 'No Going Back' met all of my expectations, and more, but there were a few things that could have been handled better:
I wish they could have hinted us at Mike and Bonnie's betrayal more obviously, the only hinting you get at the betrayal is when you talk to Bonnie on the stairs, but she'll only talk to you civilly if you choose to save Luke instead of covering him.
Season Two started to have throwaway deaths starting with 'Amid The Ruins,' out of the deaths in that episode, only Rebecca's and Sarita's made sense. Nick's was just dumb, and don't get me started on Sarah's inevitable death. 'No Going Back' didn't have any throwaway deaths which made me happier, but how they killed Luke off almost halfway through was dissapointing.
The whole Pizza/Ice cream decision was something I give Telltale HUGE props for, almost EVERYONE expected it to be a Luke/Kenny decision, but how they put Jane in there was incredibly shocking and unexpected.
Out of what I know about the endings, there are seven. I thought that was an interesting concept, it feels like the player wrote the ending, so you're not driven towards a conclusion that you were not content with. My problem with this is I have NO idea how Season Three would start with that many endings. I'm worried that Telltale will pull what they did with 'All That Remains,' the episode started in no relation to the cliffhanger, so I don't want Season 301 to start the same way, as there were different possible endings to 'No Going Back.'
You should still give them another chance, even though I think your expectations are kinda high, all in all, I enjoyed this season even more than the last one, and I'm getting the next one.

I don't think the Luke Vs Kenny was ever on the cards. They didn't want fans to think, I knew this choice was going to happen. Also some characters die sudden and quick deaths. Not everyone will die in a heroic way. Seems like you hate the episode just because the Luke/Kenny choice never happened. Telltale never said the it existed. But I thought the episode was great and one stupid thing is not going to change my mind.

I'm sure they can, if they take their time and not try to work on other games.
Hopefully they don't repeat their mistakes! Long waiting periods can ruin the experience to be honest.
I think it's better with Jane because with Luke it would've been too predictable and everyone would know who to pick.
Jane came back for clem. Kenny thought of clem as his own. So yeah, the battles made sense.

Do it! Please!
UGH I didn't really think about it until you pointed it out ;___;
It was originally in reference to Lee but now it's all for Luke. I guess I kinda predicted his death </3
Point taken! It's as Jane said, everyone's luck runs out eventually. I'm just saying Clem's should be lucky forever.

I'm gonna say thank you for being there the many times I was backing Luke up on something hahah
I love to analyse too, but I'm gullible as hell and I'll take whatever they give me and enjoy it XD I guess the loss of Luke will be hard on us, but it'll take time. It'll be okay ![<3 <3](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/heart.png)
This is the most positive comment I've seen all week, and I say that in a good way! Agreed 100%. Good for you for being so optimistic and realistic.![:D :D](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
...okay it's fine that you didn't like the episode that much but I find it ridiculous that you stop playing the game in total because of something that didn't happen the way you wanted. Maybe it is best for you to not play season 3....
Season 2 was awesome.
Hahaha, thank you for actually reading ALL of that! Just here to spread some realism and love, far left opinions tend to get random bits of dislike, we all gotta spread some joy here seeing as that episode killed joy :P
I agree 100% to this.
It must have something NEW like no same thing again ![:D :D](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Lol absolutely![;) ;)](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
If people find this episode dissapointing maybe it's time to lower your expectations.
I agree

I don't think the Luke Vs Kenny was ever on the cards. They didn't want fans to think, I knew this choice was going to happen. Also some characters die sudden and quick deaths. Not everyone will die in a heroic way. Seems like you hate the episode just because the Luke/Kenny choice never happened. Telltale never said the it existed. But I thought the episode was great and one stupid thing is not going to change my mind.
