Do you hate Vernon?
I don't I know I should but other then that asshole move he pulled with the boat wasn't right. I felt I could empathize with him to a certain extent. He was going to die and had a lot on his shoulders, taking care of the few people he had left.

Yes of course. If I can hate Mike and Bonnie for what they did, I can definitely hate Vernon :P
I don't hate dead people.
Yep, I hate what Mike and Bonnie did, Vernon pretty much did the same thing.
Truck=Boat
Mike and Bonnie did it for all the wrong reasons. They stole from their own group and betrayed people who trusted them while Vernon at least cared about his group.
Nope, I don't hate Vernon and I don't hate, Mike, Bonnie or Arvo at all, they did what they thought was right, and I can't blame them for that.
Yup. Fucker stole our boat.
He's on the same shit list as Lilly, Arvo, Mike, and Bonnie. The "Yeah I know you were desperate but god fucking damn it, that was a dick move" shit list. I won't shoot him in the face or anything, but I fully reserve the right to tell him to fuck off as soon as I see him and especially if he's in trouble and asking for help.
Nah not really. Ironically because he convinced me how stupid the boat plan was, which I already was really doubtful of. All though he only does that because he hopes you'll leave him Clementine so he won't have leaving her behind on his conscience when he steals the same boat he just lied about thinking was a bad idea. But, eh.
Don't hate him. It was a shitty move but he did what he had to in order to survive.
Yeah Vernon left his old people friends to toss in the wind after getting the boat. He is a jerk, do i hate him..
No, but that doesn't mean i wouldn't push him off a cliff. I don't need to hate someone to do that.
Nope, I'm on the same boat as Christa in season 1, I understand why he did it an d I don't hate him for it, it was still a dick move though but I didn't want to get on the boat anyway, I thought it was a stupid plan because I saw that remake of Dawn of the Dead that ends with the remaining survivors getting on a boat and then shows us how that was a shitty idea by having them die in the credits.
No I dont, I just dont particulalry care either way
Yeah, with Kenny never even hinting at so much as a destination, I was thinking of the same scene from Dawn of the Dead. I was wanting to take Clem and Ben and stay with Vernon. Again, wouldn't have worked out because Vernon was already getting ready to leave himself though. =P
I hope a walker bit off vernon's peener
I wont say I "hate" Vernon for what he did, It was pretty much the same thing most people would do if given the chance. Hell, I was prepared to take the boat with just Lee and Clem and leave Kenny and the others behind if I had to.
The only ones I've really hated, were Larry (flat out attempted to kill Lee) and Arvo (flat out attempted to kill Clem). Wanting them dead wasnt about payback, it's about not giving them the chance to try again.
Fuck that old guy. Except for Boyd, I hate all the cancer group.
Just made this for this thread
Boyd was cool
No
Yeah, I'm sad that a stupid group of mexican, or whatever they were, killed him.
Yes, for the same reason I hate Bonnie, Mike, and Arvo. Anyone who betrays the group is an enemy, I don't care what personal BS they had.
You don't hate Michelle?
I don't hate the dead, simply.
Exactly he was like "It's the best plan", but there wasn't any fucking plan, all he was saying is that we should get on the boat but he never explained what we were supposed to do afterwards, what about food, water and even shelter?
I mean that boat had no roof, it was a poorly thought out idea and it probably would have resulted in everyone's death.
I like that you wanted to take Ben though, I don't know, I wanted everyone to stick together even if Kenny was a huge asshole I didn't want him dead.
I would tie him up to a wall, surround him with bombs with oil drums in a room of an abandoned hospital. Set the timer and walk out as he begs for mercy, screaming for help. I'm out of the hospital and the timer runs out. But wait! There's no explosion, and he just soiled himself! Ahahaha!!! Oh... did I forget to mention that the bombs are actually filled with toxic laughing gas? SURPRISE! He gets to die with a smile on his face.
PS: I wouldn't really do that. I'd just yell at the old fart. But hey, it was Halloween when I posted this. Gotta be in character.
This is exactly how I feel.
Yes! He stole the BOAT.
No. For one thing, Kenny had no idea where he was going in Season 1.
Lee: "Hey Kenny, maybe we should start thinking of a plan"
Kenny: "There is no plan! We're going to get a boat!"
...And go where? If we had taken the boat, we would have no idea where we would go. We would probably wind up out of gas or the battery dead and us stuck in the middle of the ocean.
That's why I don't blame Vernon for taking the boat and that's why I don't hate him.
Being an experienced fisherman and all, I would expect Kenny had some sort of a clue/ had these things in mind.
With Lee being bitten, I never much cared about Vernon stealing the boat. It was definitely a scumbag move though. All in all I still kind of like the guy.
If that was true then why wasn't he willing to discuss it?
I think he was just holding on to hope and not really thinking things through, regardless of whether he actually knew what he was doing or not he should have told everyone else what the exact plan was, but nope all he said was "Boat is the best plan" and that's it, which is exactly why I thought the boat wasn't a good idea, well that and the ending to the remake of Dawn of the Dead.
I found an accurate picture to sum up Vernon's character.
No one ever asked him to give more detail. I'm assuming those things would have been talked about later. Considering his experience with life at sea, he wouldn't just magically somehow forget every bit of knowledge that he once had in this area.
You can ask him to talk about making a plan or discussing a plan several times and every time all he says is "There's nothing to discuss, the boat is the best plan!" but never elaborates why, which is the main reason I thought he was unreasonable, and despite his knowledge the guy was just losing it at that point which didn't make him particularly trustworthy, plus it's a well-established character trait of Kenny that he doesn't think things through, so it's very likely that he hadn't.
I don't hate anyone. I just hate what he did. Same applies to Mike and Bonnie.
You can never specifically question him on the details of the plan, at least as far as I'm aware. If you can, could you please give an example?
Regardless, there is a difference between him being stubborn/impatient and him actually not having a clue what he's doing. Like I said before, he has had a lot of experience at sea. Sure, the guy was a little on edge, but that doesn't mean he would lose a whole base of knowledge that he once had. I would actually argue that is rather unlikely. We also never saw any evidence that he was "losing it".
We really don't have any reason to assume Kenny was just blindly walking into this situation. Given his past, it is perfectly reasonable to come to the conclusion that the guy was thinking about/ had potential solutions to problems that would have arisen from the plan.
Kenny has a history of plain stubborness and doing whatever he believes is right.
When Larry has a heart attack, he flat out smashes his face in right in front of his own daughter.
After going out of the meat locker, Kenny can run out without any kind of plan
When the group comes across the The Stranger's car, he takes the stuff, regardless of what you do.
When Lee is pinned under the door, Kenny will do nothing.
When Duck is bitten, you can confront him and if you fail to convince him you will go back and see that Duck killed everyone. He says multiple times "He's not like the others. He'll be fine. Jesus, all ya'll are just making it worse!"
When Ben is hanging for his life, Kenny encourages Lee to drop him.
Granted, every little thing Kenny does seems to be justifiable in some way. Larry was going to turn! The car was abandoned! Oh he just lost his wife and kid! Oh he's depressed! Oh Ben killed Katjaa and Duck! But that's not the point.
The point I am trying to make is that Kenny has a history of doing things rashly. A very act first, then think later kind of guy. Of course Kenny wasn't blindly walking in, he was walking in regardless of what you said. What's out there on the ocean? How do you know that it won't be just as bad somewhere else? He had no idea. The extent of his plan was: "We get a boat."
Well you can ask him about discussing a change of plan more than once throughout episode 4, the one I remember more specifically is when you go to the docks, after you see the wrecked boats you can ask him and he just gets mad and shoots you down, the only thing he says is that the boat is the best plan and that's it.
In any case while I don't disagree with you that he did know about navigation and probably could come up with something I'm pretty sure that much like in Season 2 he was just planning to improvise and hadn't really thought about what he would do after they get the boat, if you agree with him Lee is the same way, for example in the conversation with Chuck on the train he asks you if you have a plan, if your answer is the boat he will question where you are headed after you find the boat and Lee's answer will is something along the lines that he'll think about it once they get it, I don't remember his exacts words but Chuck didn't approve and I think we can all agree that Chuck was a wiser man than both Kenny and Lee.
In any case considering Kenny's behaviour throughout both seasons it's pretty safe to assume that he hadn't really thought it through and he was just going with his gut, and while he is capable of coming up with something it is likely that all his plans were at most vague ideas by that point because he's not the kind of man that thinks things through, he's impulsive and puts his hopes in faith most of the time (Wellington and the boat are both examples of this, same as both of his plans to escape Carver's camp).
He did what was the best for him and his friends, but he screwed our group by stealing the boat .
So yes , he is a douche.
I hate him....... when I first saw him, I thought he was a nice guy, but when he was only helping us for that boat that he stole from us... that's when I hated him
