That one's actually believable. There was an episode of Mythbusters that showed that it was surprisingly really easy for a grown man to not only move a cadaver, but lift it up into the boot of a car with no trouble. If a grown man can lift a cadaver into a car by himself with no issues, then a 10 year old could believably drag a motionless body slowly through town. Especially since she was deathly afraid at the moment, and adrenaline temporarily increases physical strength (so much so that mothers have been documented to have lifted over a ton when they lifted automobiles to save their children).
A lot of what she does in season two though does go into the realm of needing suspension of disbelief though, especially considering Clementine would have been quite malnourished by that point of the zombie apocalypse.
As a side note, I do agree that many of the things Clem did were entirely unrealistic, like kicking the door in.
I still have no ide… morea what kind of drugs Telltale was using when they decided it was reasonable to have Clem do such a thing. Did they forget they were animating Clementine and not Bigby from TWAU?
People don't understand that while Clementine is an amazing character she shouldn't be the protagonist. There is a limit to what she can do. Her choice dialogue is amazingly limited and her choice diversity the exact same. I would rather play as someone we have more influence over.
Not a bad idea, but there are a few problems:
1. Depending on their age (say if they're REALLY old) then they will have as many physical di… morefficulties as Clementine does
2. An older guys character is already pretty much set in stone, so character development would be harder.
On a side note, how old was Pete? He didn't seem that old to me, maybe late 40's (though I assume he was meant to seem older since Nick is around his twenties and Pete is supposed to be his Uncle)?
No, i am serious, that is one thing i really like about Dragon Age, is that you create your own character. I think if they created a character, then the player chooses sex, then the voice person is either Laura Bailey or Troy Baker. Everyone is happy.
All joking or seriousness aside, that's kinda why Dragon Age and Mass Effect have become my favorite games now. Just the amount of customiza… moretion we get into making the person we're playing as and the chance to be able to make it that much more of a memorable experience. I can appreciate video games that are good, no matter who we play as, but playing as the generic male hero is getting old.
Do you mean me? If so, I totally disagree that the Walking Dead is an action based game, as every single comment I've ever made on this forum shows. If you didn't mean me, then I apologize for jumping to conclusions.
Man or woman, doesn't matter to me. I just want to be an adult again so I can actually (and believably) make important decisions for the story I'm supposed to be immersed in.
Why does it automatically make it generic and stale if the main character is a male? What difference does it really make, so long as the sto… morery is good? Lee was a male character that most of us enjoyed playing as, so I'm sure they could make another. Ultimately to me it doesn't matter as long as the story is good. If they make the protagonist an adult male I'm not going to bitch and moan, and if they make the protagonist an adult female, or 11 year old female, I'm not going to bitch and moan; so long as the story is good.
As a side note, I do agree that many of the things Clem did were entirely unrealistic, like kicking the door in.
Didnt you read the (and believably) part Clementine leading the group and having them listen to her makes no sense. Especially for example when she is left to take care of Sarah who is older than her
I never really thought of it from your perspective, I don't really take anything too seriously from this game, if what i said offended anyone i sincerely do offer my apology, because it was never my intention to be malicious. I'm like Kenny sometimes crazy shit just comes out of my mouth.
Obviously I don't mean literally every single one. I know that's not true. But given the fact that straight guys are a privileged majority, … moreespecially when it comes to fanservice, and this is one rare gaming instance where the love interest isn't sexualized to appeal to them, thus personally making me feel more included and comfortable when playing this game, I think I'm within my right to exaggerate a little bit, because I'm talking about something that bothers me. And given the fact I'm talking about a privileged majority, here, I don't think my words are going to do any longstanding harm other than make you feel a little bit peeved for a few minutes--but the sexualization of female characters has profound lasting effects. Your feelings in this situation are peanuts in comparison.
If you're trying to say you're not one of those guys, then I'd expect you to have a little more sympathy, here. I would think you'd stop and think, "Yeah, it's… [view original content]
but when game after game presents women as nothing but sex objects, yeah it does kind of have it's limits.
Just out of curiosity, do you happen to have any current examples to back this up?
I can't speak to some of those, as I don't know really know anything about them, but as for the sexualization of some of those characters, I don't really think it's a big deal. Games have consistently idealized the male body as well, and no one has even thought twice about it. I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with presenting women as "nothing but sex objects".
I don't know Clementine's mass, nor do I know the actual acceleration with which she kicked the door, so calculating this is purely speculative. At best I'll say she weighs 80 pounds, giving her a mass of 36kg. As for her acceleration, I'd say a relatively decent guess would be that a malnourished 11 year old can kick at 25% of the speed of the fastest kicker, measured at about 30 meters per second, so 7.5 meters per second for her. It takes approximately 2 seconds for her to hit that door. With these numbers you're looking at 135N of force applied, though not under the knob where she should be applying it. So we're looking at 30 pounds, multiplied by 200% to give us 60 pounds.
Unless I've made an error somewhere with my numbers, in which case I'd like you to correct me, I'm not seeing how 60 pounds of force, applied to an incorrect location, is going to kick in that door.
Clementine is capable of killing and not panicking, while lots of adults are not capable to do this. unrealistic? No.
An infant can pull a trigger without panicking. An infant cannot kick a door in.
As a side note, I do agree that many of the things Clem did were entirely unrealistic, like kicking the door in.
Calculate force and… more mass, do the math. Adrenaline gives the body about 200% more strength.

Yeah, Skyrim too! They may not be exactly like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but the same character customization applies. I think that Bioware kinda ushered in a new aspect to gaming and has made it simply amazing. The games may have their glitches and plot holes and etc. but they are still my favorite games now. All I play anymore really is Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I just hate that I can't get a good ending for ME3 unless I play hours and hours of Mulitplayer. -__-
Laura Bailey is awesome, but Ali Hillis is my personal favorite female voice actor. She voices Harding in Dragon Age Inquisition, but she voices so many amazing female characters. Like Liara from Mass Effect, Lightning from Final Fantasy, those are just two of her biggest roles. But Troy Baker is just a legend, after his voicing of Joel in The Last of Us.

As a overly-macho 15 year old that doesn't play as a girl unless it's for a second play-through, gives my characters beards if possible, and pretty much has the pride of a 8-year old in terms of "manly" things, I.....disagree,actually.
Just think of all those great male protagonists and anti heroes that are in films and TV series
There are more male protagonists in films and tv series than female ones only because assholes like you THINK they are better, not because male characters are actually automatically better than female ones.
Men and women are equal and should generally be represented equally. This post is BS.
When a group of grown ass, and supposedly capable adults are looking to an 11 year old to be the primary decision maker/work horse, that's when immersion kinda goes out the window. So yeah, unless Clementine winds up with some ragtag group of elementary school kids I can't take her seriously as a leader.
I don't agree with it, but perhaps it's just the familiarity of a male in a leading role. I remember watching a documentary in class (Miss Representation), and it's said that an overwhelming majority of protagonists are male, and that the few leading females usually have something to do with a romance, which probably turns off a lot of male viewers.
But we change those shitty opinions by having strong female protagonists. If we just pander to those who think the only good protagonists are tall white males with brown hair and stubble, then society coasts, it doesn't have progress. Progress is what we want, and it needs daring developers and games, Like Mirror's Edge or even the last of us, due to us playing as Ellie often and almost certainly playing as her in the sequel, to push it forward.
It does not need COD, Battlefield, Just Cause etc.

Children still have the same nervous system as adults, so adrenaline would still affect them the same way it would adults. So, if an adult woman could lift over 2000 pounds because of a temporary rush of adrenaline, a ten year old girl could certainly drag a 200 pound man because of a temporary rush of adrenaline.
Personally speaking, you didn't say anything that bothered me, George. I was more annoyed at the guy who made the comment to begin with. But I actually really appreciate you being courteous enough to read what I said and take it into consideration. Thank you.

I don't know about that, you're comparing a fully grown adult with a prepubescent child. I feel like an adrenaline rush for a kid would not allow them to carry such a significant amount of weight.

When i beat Mass effect 3 for the first time, i had played through the game in preperation for Mass efffect 3. Then i saw that ending and lost my mind, it truly never recovered. Red, Blue, Green. What choice should i make! I can't decide...
Oh BTW did you finish Dragon Age? They fixed the bug i was having, at least on PS4. I finished it but must of screwed up on the Romance option so my character was "forever alone."

I don't mind playing as a male or female, whether they're a kid or an adult. I had no problem playing as Clementine, the problem I did have was some of the decisions or tasks forced on her to seemed kinda questionable or silly at times. No adult would be okay with leaving a kid alone to work a wind turbine, and then little things like kicking down a door by herself as well, to being the person everybody comes to for help to solve a problem nearly every time one comes up. It's a shame because lot of these are things that could've been easily fixed to be more plausible [like helping Sarita with the wind turbine, or Jane and Clem working together to break the door down, to characters acknowledging a little more that she is a child or to have talked down to her as one more often] but as it stands, in a couple of sections where those problems come up, I don't feel like I'm playing a child, I feel like I'm playing an adult in a child's body.
Male or female, I don't care ;_; just make a good game, please?

Well, in the afterlife, they can now eat in peace
That's certainly how it felt. Bigby kicking in a door is a natural thing, but Clem? Not so much.

Because the ZA is so realistic to begin with.
How about a female teenager? It's rare to play as a female in games, and even rarer to play as a teenager, so why not both?
He is listed as 50-60 in the wiki but I would guess around 54.

Well Clem will most likely end up being a teenager in Season 3, or at least close to being one.

I understand why people want to play as an adult, but I have yet to see a non-sexist reason why a male adult would be better than a female one.

once again i just, i get why someone wouldnt want to be a kid, but i dont get the whole gender deal. Women are just as capable as men
Yeah, this is just bizarre.
