I'd say the death of Carly/Doug in Episode 103 and the connection the Stranger had to Lee's group were some shocking moments in Season 1. In Season 2, I was pretty surprised to see Bonnie appear at the Ski Lodge in Episode 202, prior to revealing she was with Carver's group.
No act of violence in season 2 could match the scene where Sam lunges for Clem. Showing zombies eat a person alive is one thing; zombies aren't real, so there's at least a layer of make-believe involved.
But dogs attacking children? That cuts a little too close to home. Wherever that furry bastard is now, I hope he's still suffering.

The food, as well as his need for it, had everything to do with it. Obviously if he wasn't facing some form of starvation/ the need for food he wouldn't have acted so aggressively and fought over it in the first place.
But here, Sam behaves like a domestic dog for at least a few minutes, before he suddenly turns into fucking Cujo.
A domesticated dog still acts on instinct... and Clementine was a total stranger to him. A stranger who was trying to take food away from him when he needed it to survive.

I've had my dog growl at me simply for trying to take a bone away from her. There is nothing unrealistic about a dog being protective of itself and fighting for food that it thinks it needs to survive.
Anyway, I wasn't even looking to debate about whether the writing was good or not. I just think it's a little messed up to want a dog to suffer for it acting upon instinct.

In season 2....I would have to say seeing for the first time...and....I suppose losing Christa and Omid so early in the season..and losing Luke the we did. Well, after he survived three..I thought for sure he was woozy because he was bitten....that he was there for the long haul. I thought that it could've ended up Clementine and Luke. and Jane, someone who's usually not very trusting and doesn't like groups all of the sudden, so willingly agrees that they should investigate Arvo's lead. But I suppose not just Jane, but everyone....After Arvo set them up, everyone one so quick to defend him from Kenny....just to add drama where there otherwise shouldn't be any.....
I was shocked at Clementine getting shot and seeing Lee in the dream sequence as well....and that Bonnie and MIke still left with Arvo after what he did to Clem

16 months later time skip and noticing that Christa's baby is no more...
Sorta half expected Sam to bite Clem because by that point he was a feral animal, but still shocked me because the attacking scene was sooo loud.
Realising that Carlo's probably isn't a registered doctor because he couldn't identify that canines and omnivores leave different bite marks.
Having to stitch Clem's arm up, I dread that scene whenever I replay the game.

One dialog option in S2 EP5 when Bonnie and Clementine are sitting next to each other talking. At one point Clem could say something like, "I wish I never looked for my parents". It was such a shocking and sad thing to hear from Clem.

One of the best moments of the entire series. When I consider how it made me feel at the time, I might even say it was the best moment overall.
