What's the thing that if Telltale does you'll stop playing...

The only thing telltale could do that would stop me from playing is make a bad season.

    So far, so good.

  • Making the episodes shorter than 90 minutes.

  • It'll be like Beyond Two Souls all over again

I think the single thing that would make me stop playing is if Kenny came back from the dead. Obviously that won't happen, but that's about the only thing that'll make me stop playing. Oh, and if they make Clem have a rape storyline. Just no.

  • That's a bit extreme, Jane is probably more likely to survive longer than Kenny, she has better survival skills and is used to being alone.

basically this: Jane lasts longer than kenny in S3 DONE, id be sick of telltale games right then and there

    Clem spontaneously combusting.
Actually no, I'd probably just burst outbl laughing at their ingenuity.

    Seriously though

    • Another dry, stereotypical flat villain
    • Another Kenny like character/Kenny hanging around too long. Also another Sarah, or the "Russians"

So there would be an option to avoid it then.

  • You only play TWD from them? How come? The other games are really good, and IMO, sometimes better.

  • I think im starting to see why Carley and Doug both died after the same amount of screen time: So fans wouldnt get upset.

I want whoever i picked to be in the game the same amount of time or longer, it'd be unfair of telltale otherwise

  • Fair enough, I was just saying logically Jane would probably last longer.

  • And i actually agree with that statement, she WOULD last longer. But in the end it's a game, not a movie or a show, so the player must be pleased or have some sort of input on what happens in the end

I agree with dojo, their other games are great and you should play them. While I was attracted to Telltale as a result of TWD, I played other games like TWAU and loved them. They even made me love GOT, and I hate GOT (the show at least, never read the books).

  • If Clem isn´t the PC.

  • I would stop playing if clem is not the main playable character which means if she is a side character i am done if she isnt in it i am done if they kill her off i am done

  • If there's a new Sarah and they kill her '' because she sucks ''.

  • Well then lucky me, I didn't pay for it first. I'm not rushing in for season passes ever again after the S2's finale, I'm waiting from now on.

What if Clementine died in the last episode just like that scientist guy from World War Z? Now that was a dumb death

  • If they get rid of Clem or put her on the sidelines, it would be waste of building up a good character after 2 seasons imo.

Also rape or torturing Clem would be the end of Telltale.

  • Make a foru--

    Oh shit.

  • Read some of the views.

I agree, the torture, rape or death of Clementine would be a MAJOR reason to say F-it I quit.

Other reasons if Jane, Christa, Lilly or any new characters that have potential get killed off or given a shaft treatment, that would be another nail in the coffin for me.

  • It's hard to say, I'm generally the kind of person that always tries to find a good side to everything and to enjoy things for what they are even if it's not what I expected. But now that I think about it, I wouldn't want to see other characters suffer the same fate as Nick and Sarah, it would show that they didn't pay attention to the feedback they received. Also, I don't think I would stop playing if Clem wasn't in it, I would certainly find it less interesting and it would bother me but I'd still give it a chance and see if there are any new characters that I can like instead.

  • I'd like that to be honest. I'd like for them to reboot the game, and put more work into it. Season 2 compared to 1 was a big let down. If 3 falls further than season 2 I will probably be done with telltale all together.

both games being a certain characters dream. ( I hated Clems dream sequence fake out) in S2 but I can forgive it) But if I see Lee,Clem, or Kenny wake up im putting the controller down!

  • This is treading on some super sensitive territory.

Obviously no one wants to see a "rape storyline" put in Clem's personal development. On one hand, rape culture is so popular in a post-apocalypse story because rape is something that denounces everything civilized and just and is the complete antithesis of anything morally right. At the same time it's popular with idiots that call themselves "writers" to instill shock value to the lowest common denominator and I've seen it used so disgustingly and with such little care in some stories that it's repulsive. I don't think it's necessary or can be rightfully and skillfully justified as far as a writing standpoint is concerned. It'd feel forced on almost any context.

If they felt they had to go down that road, they need to treat it sensitively and handle it maturely. Imply it and rather than show the violate effects it has, develop it in a way to make Clementine a much stronger person. Jesus, I just hope... fucking HOPE they don't choose that path.

There's no way. They would get wayyyyy to much shit for that.

  • Ya sorry I still like to call them all the cabin group though since they all joined forces. XD

I edited it to just the group.

    colgato posted: »

"the cabin group" you mean Luke?

  • If the games become badly written/boring basically. I'm cool with anything as long as it's well written and makes sense within the WD universe.

  • Season 3 isnt out yet, maybe TellTale will surprise everyone and Kenny and Jane will both do a ton

  • Yes but that idea has already been done Clemenem, in Season 1. Season 2 was different and good in that respect.

Me personally i'd like to see her as PC again in Season 3.

You do realize her story can still be told through the eyes of someone else with her as the main focus

  • It will be hard for me to continue playing this game series (or any other future games from TT) if they:

    1. Continue to make episodes 90 mins or shorter. I know some of you aren't bothered about the length but i feel it doesn't work or allow enough character development, scene exploration/hubs etc. It always feels very rushed.
    2. In the case of The Walking Dead, if they keep killing off characters for the sake of killing them. They could develop them into really likeable characters who can at the very least survive a season or so!
    3. If they don't make our choices at least "feel" like they matter unlike in Season 2, any choice we made felt worthless. At least in Season 1, you could be best buddies or make an enemy of Kenny, and this particular choice mattered and lasted throughout the 5 episodes. They could have easily done the same in Season 2 for example, refusing to be friends with Sarah, making her more bitter towards you, or how about Rebecca's dramatic change in personality from episode 1? I remember at the end of Episode 2, if you gave up to help Carlos, Kenny is bitter to you in the episode 3 preview, but alas, nothing changed with his personality towards you. So many possibilities but was a let down.

I'd say these are the main things that would put me off continuing to purchase future games from TT. As long as they make Season 3 in a similar way to Season 1, with (as i said above) more hubs, character development and choices that make a real impact later, relationship between you and the other characters.

  • If they don't take the time to build up some more characters that actually survive multiple seasons (something they should've been doing since the start actually). I think the reason this "No Clem No Buy" movement is so strong is because there are really no other characters worth following closely. If season 3 turns out to be another tale of emotionless Clem joining another group just to see them systematically die off I'm done. (And either way, this will be pretty obvious within the first 1 or 2 episodes).

  • Yup I know.. and I got S1E1 of TWAU, it was cool for what it is, I've seen a little of GOT and the other one on youtube.. they look entertaining.. I'm sure they are all fine but I love the zombie/apocalyptic genre and after TWD I simply don't have any interest. I sim race NASCAR at iRacing or i'm playing State of Decay. There's another zombie game coming out I'm interested in..

Why is "Clementine being raped or tortured" an even thought of possibility? That's just off the wall weird and doesn't even fit in the game.

  • Attempting to rape clem?this sounds like a good idea. This will make the game even darker(like the comics).

  • If clem isn't in the story what so ever I am DONE!

  • An option to avoid it would be even more problematic because it puts the blame of the rape on a decision the victim made.

  • Did you read what I typed?

I never stated they should. In fact, I'm super opposed to the ideal. I stated if they felt they had to (for whatever reason) put rape into Clem's story arc, address the topic with respect and class and not trivialize it as something to further Clementine as a "strong survivor."

If they did do something as disgusting as make rape simply a development event, I can assuredly say here and now I wouldn't be buying any more products from TT ever again.

  • David Cage is a terrible game writer though, he puts a rape scenario in every game. Hell, in Heavy Rain had whatshername getting fondled and borderline raped like five times.

His treatment of women and more importantly rape as a development arc to make the heroine stronger and more able is disgusting. If a woman isn't about to get a train ran on her, she ain't developing as far as DC is concerned.
