Was Telltale trying to present Kenny as a villain in Season 2?
Naturally after Katja and Duck died, Kenny would be a wreck.
But this Season, Telltale made Kenny almost appear villainous.
I don't see him as such.
But is it possible that Telltale was trying to go that direction with his character, but in somewhat of an understated way?
I say understated, as in comparison to Carver who shown to be a villain from the start.

Nah, villains usually have well thought out plans.
No, I think that they were trying to show all of the depression he was going through. Yeah, he did have a short temper and stuff, but I think he was also reasonable.
I think it was something about 'how far would you go to stand by Kenny' or at least in the finale more so. x_x I honestly would've prefered they focused on Clementine more and made her more of an interesting character; Kenny really stole the spotlight in that sense
It's up to interpretation, and they intended that. In my playthrough Kenny was the main villain, in another's he's jesus or whatever they 're saying these days.
If telltale wanted his character to be purely disliked they wouldn't have put him in twice as many episodes as any other npc.
Well that sort of implies you're on Kenny's side from the start doesn't it, which is determinant.
Granted Telltale weren't fond of giving the player any opportunity to show that you actually dislike him. ('Do you trust me clementine?' "Yes/Not sure/ Don't Know/ Silence, but no 'No.' option).
I'd say it's up to interpretation
He could be seen in either light, depending on both choices made and the player's disposition towards him
To be fair, they didn't really let you express dislike towards any of the characters
Nick and Sarah are the only characters where you really get the choice to express the fact that you don't particularly like them
Depends on the person who played it, it's down to interpretation you have to look at his motives they were always slightly ignorant but deep down he was just trying to protect the people he cares about
His old-fashioned he throws all morals and self-beliefs aside when he becomes enraged willing to do anything to get what he wants or to protect the people he cares for
He became the only person he could be and what his best at to try to stop the closest thing to family he had left Clem from being killed or endangered
I don't think his a villain as for me it's always about Clem and he helped her defeat any danger which faced her and showed her nothing but respect and care when he interacted with her
I think people may think his a villain because of some of his actions were dark without empathy but that's what he needed to be to protect the people he cared for, he did them actions for them within his mind

Not all :P
Kenny had alot of loyal fans, so it was Telltale's only way to make less
I think telltale was trying to make players pick sides by making him angrier, i would never consider Kenny a villain, Mike was more of a villain than Kenny IMO
TBH it's hard to find any villian in Telltale's TWD. Almost every character can be portrayed as such, if necessary.
I don't consider Kenny a villan, he is just too emotional and simply can not control himself. I would just stay away from this guy and leave him whenever I had a chance. He is "a bomb waiting to go off".
And yet it was Jane who saved Clem from drowing and took care of her afterwards while Kenny was busy knocking the s*** out of a poor boy.
Guess he cared too much.
I know I wish kenny was more like Jane who would leave Clem just like her sister to die when she struggled in a more serious situation
ALso Jane wanted Sarah dead the minute she became a problem to get rid of her she is a manipulator she sees an awesome potential in Clem so wants to help her for her own benefits the minute clem becomes a problem she will move on or let her die to survive herself
Jane and Kenny are both far from perfect
i think the whole series is showing how much Kenny has changed since Season 1
But not so brazenly as them basically asking you 'do you feel attached to me?' and being no option of a negative response.
I can't believe that Jane would ever leave Clem if Clem becomes a problem. In the beginning, yes. In the end Jane became emotionally attached to Clem and if she were not she would have never come up with a baby plan in the first place. It was clear to me at that moment that Jane became a loyal friend and would do everythin to keep it that way, so she would never leave Clem.
And btw, she had a chance but returned, do you remember?
Sarah was a burden from the very beginning which is not her fault. We don't want to hurt anyone by default but as Lee said "It's not that easy".
Jane is not perfect, yes, but in that world she better than Kenny in any aspect.
Another helpful tip about villains, they lie. :P
I think so, people with PTSD are often vilified as "crazy". So many lines Kenny said i could relate with as.
What wrong with Kenny? Why is Kenny acting this way... LOL
Kenny's portrayal is just a regular dude with his own ideals, goals, and mindset. If they conflict with the player's set, then yes he would be seen as a villain. In this game, both S1 and S2 Telltale just outright shows that not everyone can be on your side. Thus creating conflict, then entertainment, and then excellent discussion.
I don't think they were trying to portray him as a Villian or a Hero, as much as they were trying to show how far he had fallen.
I don't see how an argument "how far he had fallen" does not go with "being a villian" actually
If anything, all the Kenny-haters in these parts have been trying to prove how Telltale was biased on Kenny's behalf. So seeing a thread like this one crop up once in a while is a relief.
Really?
I thought TT were trying to suck up to the guy and his fans honestly. Every time you talk to him, Clementine auto-agrees with his every word and he's always presented in a ridiculously positive light, especially in the last episode. If he isn't sniffing AJ and talking about not cussing then immediately cussing, he's going on and on about his wife and "dumber than a sack of bricks" son for the eight time in the episode.
He's ridiculously overpraised by the company.
I felt like that Telltale was trying to make him appear as a villain during Amid the Ruins and No Going Back. They made him look like a complete scumbag by doing simple things like: yelling at Clementine, beating Arvo, and just make him appear as if he's going insane.
To me, it seems like Telltale was trying to test our loyalty to Kenny because every chance given to show any form of distaste towards him its never a clear answer what we can say.
Example: Kenny asks if you trust him in the truck during In Harms Way, the dialogue choices given are: I trust you, this is a bad plan, or I'm scared, there is no option to say you don't trust him. "This is a bad plan" is the closest option to deny trust, but instead of saying "this is a bad plan" Clementine says "Maybe we should wait... maybe come up with a different plan." There is no possible way to show any animosity towards him, even in A House Divided you can say you never liked him but it doesn't show any dislike towards him. (Aside from Clementine thinking he's a jerk, later on she doesn't make anymore of these comments.)
So really, my opinion is that they tried to make Kenny look bad just to test player loyalty.
yeah
Kenny is family. A good guy through and through, just on a bit of an edge.
lol I'm pretty sure she was also emotionally attached to her sister, and look how that turned out...
I agree, but in the end I still couldn't bring myself to leave him. Even before the apocalypse Kenny was hardly someone I would have liked– ignorant, controlling and quick-tempered, but Clem and him have been through so much together since S1, it was hard not to grow attached to him. S2 he was pretty much impossible, but you knew he was broken and you and AJ were all he had left.
Kenny only saves Clementine in episode 5 season 1 if he likes Lee. Isn't family about non-conditional love?
Because it's good to have a variety of opinions? Or because you disagree with Telltale being at all biased towards Kenny's character development?
I don't care what he is in my game he is dead. As for Carver we just don't get to see his decent into darkness like we did Kenny's.
I think this what telltame was betting on. Because we all know Kenny, good or bad he's been with us through the whole S1.
Personally, I never liked him, he was trouble from the very beginning so my choice was obvious with or without Jane but I would leave him anyway. I do not believe that he was attached to Clem otherwise it was some weird sort of attachment I don't really understand. People try to excuse their sympathy to him by saying that he went through too much as if everyone around him has been having a walk in the park. However in the end I believe that this all is a matter of personal preference.
Telltale has Kenny beat the living crap out of Arvo. Kenny calls Clementine a "stupid fucking kid." Mike points out how blatantly idiotic Kenny's plan to escape Carver's compound is in front of the whole group. Kenny turns into a flat-out psycho and murders Jane unless Clem puts him out of his misery like a mad dog. But none of this seems to be enough for them, or for you. I get the impression the only way you'd be convinced Telltale WASN'T practicing favoritism would be an explicit death scene with Sam tearing out Kenny's throat.
Oh, and will you kindly STOP using the "everyone is entitled to their opinions" card? For the umpteenth time, I can't respect your damn opinion if you prefer to flame than talk.
Sometimes a few characters are the reason why the story is so good. In this case it is Lee, Clementine, Kenny and Carver.
You can easily tell that those four characters are the most developed ones across the walking dead seasons that Telltale Games has made (albeit Carver is questionable in terms of development.)
Other characters are kind of "extras," they have their own development but has this stench of "when they get killed" all over them due lack of actual focus on them. Expect that season one's "ninja" character.
Depends on your perspective of him. TellTale knew the fanbase was mostly split on either hating or loving Kenny, so like CreepingCake said, they both wanted to test loyalty and show how unstable he'd gotten. This is why the "shoot or look away" decision was so easy/difficult for some players.
And throughout all of it, you are given no option to express dislike for Kenny after episode 2.
If telltale weren't biased towards him, they'd let the player dislike him for his actions rather than forcing them to be friends with him and cry at his death.
No they were trying to present him as god.
