In my opinion, Vol. 3 is woefully underappreciated as an album. It, for sure had it's share of strengths and I quite enjoyed a large portion of the experience.
Certainly better than their shit-heap All Hope Is Gone.

She seemed dressed in all of me
Stretched across my shame
All the torment and the pain
… more
Leaked through and covered me
I'd do anything to have her to myself
Just to have her for myself
Now I don't know what to do
I don't know what to do
When she makes me sad.
I don't think All Hope Is Gone is entirely a shitheap, I love the song Snuff (one of the most romantic songs I've ever heard if you ask me), as well as Psychosocial and Dead Memories.
That said, this album is undoubtedly their peak; Duality, Circle, Welcome, The Nameless, Before I Forget and of course Vermillion pt 1 + 2. These songs are just amazing. I don't know how to even begin to describe the joy I get in listening to this album.
Vermillion (which is my favorite of the album) also hides a very deep meaning within it, it's a song about unrequited love and loneliness. My favorite interpretation of the song is that part 1 is the build-up and part 2 is the aftermath of the thoughts inside the head of a person who seems to manifest his loneliness into a beautiful girl in his head, and he is becoming so obsessed with her that he actually starts to think she is real in the sense that he starts hating her, and towards the end has to stop himself from letting the feelings build up, reminding himself that she isn't real.
I also read that Vermillion is "a brilliant scarlet red", and considering that Corey married a woman named Scarlett in 2004, it was probably written about her :P
Sorry for the rambling, I get excited when I talk about things I love.

Vol. 3 had some more intricate subject matter, and them being able to pull off certain lyrics while still having that edge was quite a breath of fresh air from their insane ramblings on Iowa (which I also love). It's always cool to see artists grow and evolve with their subject matter.
Unfortunately though, besides "This Cold Black," "Wherein Lies Continue," and "Gemetria" I's say the rest was either meh or just not up to par with where it could've been.

True, what I love so much about Corey Taylor is that (unlike so much artists especially today) he actually puts so much meaning and emotion into his songs. He even started crying while playing Snuff:
No, I'm right there with you.

I sometimes enjoy listening to some good old classic musics. It takes us back to the past. And I am currently listening to Power of Love.

Out of curiosity, what's your opinion on Em now?
I couldn't care less for anything after The Eminem Show, and even that album was pretty "meh" in my opinion.
Shaky subject matter on this one, but an extremely powerful track nonetheless. With that distorted choir organ playing in the background, I can really feel myself turning into something sinister...
I'm not as into Life is Strange as some people are here, but I decided to just recently playthrough Episode 2. The ending song is pretty good, and I've had it on loop a lot lately.

Love the song and the movie.
Metal love songs are the best love songs.
Reminds me of Far Cry 3
I agree. Here are a few others I like:

He's not where he was in the early 2000's, but he's slowly improving from the disastrous Encore and Relapse. I actually liked a lot of of MMLP2.
If he stopped singing, that would be great.
