Is killing Jolene justified?
I thought it was one of the more over the top decisions. I wanted to get people's thoughts on it

She was clearly nuts has a crossbow aimed at you and is threatening to castrate you so yes it's justified.
She also managed to sneak into the motor inn undetected and steal Clem's hat. Next time it could be a knife across the throat.
i had forgotten about that good point
She had major issues shooting her seems like a good survival idea but the worst part about shooting Jolene yourself was that Danny thought you were cool and that was really creepy.
She had a crossbow aimed at me. She threatened to murder everyone at the dairy (Which, by that point, included the entire group). She said she was gonna cut off my ballsack and pin it to a tree.
All she was missing was a "Shoot me" sign taped to her back.
Maybe a shot in the leg, not in the head.
Considering presumably the women's daughter was raped and killed, how do people expect her to behave? And it's not like she never said put the guns down because she did. I don't think killing her was right, injuring her so she can't kill anyone would've been more suitable.
Not really but it is understandable. Can't let someone that crazy run amok.
I was trying to talk her down, Danny is the guy who inevitably killed her.
But no, I don't think it was "too far."
injuring someone to that extent in the world of TWD is likely to be a death sentence anyway. Better to be merciful and give her a quick end. Besides she was completely unhinged and aggressive, she needed to be put down for the safety of the group. It isn't nice and it isn't good, but it IS necessary.
I didn't shoot her, but I'd have done it eventually myself if Danny hadn't. Poor lady was clearly out of her mind with grief and anger, it would be better to put her out of her misery.
That depends on the extent of the injury and medical supplies avalabile. Yet Danny is clearly not normal but we "trust him". How do you know she would be a danger to the group? She wanted Lee to know what the dairy was like hence why she kept asking Danny to tell LEe before he shot her. If she was a danger to the group, why would she be trying to warn the group ?
I would've just shot her in the arm where she held the crossbow in the handle. Tie her up and figure out some things (interrogate) while having Katjaa patch her up. Lilly can keep an eye on her. Possibly have her join us if she can be controllable.
I tried to talk her down. The longer the confrontation went on, the more she seemed to direct her aggression away Lee and towards Danny. And since I was already on the fence about Danny, that made me.... strangely trusting of her. I would never let her anywhere near the group though.
I talked with her until she threatened to shoot me in the balls. I suffered to many Cup checks to let a threat like that slide by.
If someone was threatening to kill me, cut off my balls or whatever and you know shit was serious then i would not let someone like that live. Suppose you just hurt them or tie them up, they could come back to find you and then it would be too late!
With a crossbow -_-
Yep Completely harmless
Compared with a rifle
A bolt to the face works just as good as any bullet.
Bullets travel faster than arrows plus two rifles> 1 crossbow
Speed doesn't matter at close range not that your likely do dodge a crossbow bolt anyway. and why does two rifles> 1 crossbow even matter? If she shoots one gunman it proves shes a threat regardless of whether or not shes killed afterwards.
Also depends on how much walkers (or bandits) are nearby
Injuring her so she can't kill anyone goes both ways; if you make it so she can't kill you, that would also mean that she's at the mercy of anything or anyone else that comes along.
Wrong game but Rodrik's dodging of Whitehill bolts go against this. In the end Kenny was right about people with guns will always beat people with bow and arrows
Video games aren't real life.and I'm not saying that bows beat guns or that guns beat bows but that whether Jolene has either or even none shes still a threat.
She's aiming a crossbow at Lee and she threatens to kill everybody at the farm.
So yeah, I think its completely justifiable.
Obviously if she knows some shit you don't want your guests to know it is. But seriously, she pretty much had to go.
Although I didn't kill/want to kill, a woman who had apparently went through some shit. It is completely justifiable to defend yourself. A crossbow is a very dangerous weapon, and she definitely had a screw loose.
She threatened Lee's life, so yes killing her was justified. However my own approach was to talk first, shoot later. I wasn't actually too happy that Danny interrupted our conversation and for me that was yet another reason to not to trust him.
And depends about how many bandits/walkers.
I didn't mean that injuring her would be good, I meant it would've been better than killing her. If we stayed at the motor inn, it would've been better for her because I couldn't see her agreeing to go to the dairy seeing how she knew what the St. John's were like. At least at the motor inn, even if she didn't trust the group, she'd be able to recover and get some rest.
It depends on your reasoning for it. No one can blame you for killing a woman threatening you with a crossbow.
She had to be put down but I don't blame her entirely.
Lee- Screw this.
[Shoots Jolene]
How Clementine got shot by Arvo, and was just fine afterwards.
Probably yes. Putting myself in that situation, I would shoot. She's armed and obviously unstable. You could shoot her in the leg, but given the circumstances, it would do little good. It's not like they could've dragged her to the farm and properly treated her. She would die regardless.
Ho! Ho! For he knew she had thy magical plot armor
I like how people act like shooting someone is easy.
1.Lilly (and Larry) would never have tolerated that (bringing her back)
2. she wasn't being cooperative and would have been extremely dangerous to handle
3. I never trusted the saint Johns, you just don't have an option to deny them
4. As Deltino said if you injured her enough to take away her threat she would be vulnerable
5. Even if you try to calm her down she behaves irrationally, and extremely violently, and threatens you. So she IS dangerous.
Exactly this! hahaha. Also Kenny shrugs off a bullet in the 2nd episode, and never even mentions it. Maybe bullets in TWD universe are made of jello.
No one is saying it's easy they're saying that it is a justifiable and logical course of action given the circumstances. Also in the game Jolene is not the 1st person that Lee killed/had the option to kill. You also have the fact that in the world of TWD people have been conditioned by their surroundings; Zombies, death, bandits, rapists, and general distrust amongst people make for hardened survivors. Sure episode 2 is near the beginning of the outbreak, so the effect is lessened, but there would still have been a change in those who were still alive.
