How do, you all feel about the fact we will be playing as two different protagonist.
I Honestly, think this is a bad idea and that telltale did this in an attempt to try to please all of their fan-base
Because there where allot of people, that wanted to play as Clementine but also allot that wanted to play as a different character.
But I dont think this is a good way to try and please everyone, because I honestly do not see this working in a game like TWD.
And I think it will be a bad thing for the character-development of both protagonist.
Because I think we will not have enough time, in a episode to give both protagonist a good character-arch.
Also I dont understand why they feel the need, to introduce us to a new character Javier.
I mean im not a huge fan of Clementine, so I don't really want to play as her.
But also I do not want to play as some random character, I know nothing about.
I mean why introduce a new character, as one of the protagonist.
When they, introduced us to amazing characters in TWD Michonne & 400-Days.
I would much rather, have played as Samantha, Paige Shel Becca or Vince then some random guy we know nothing about.
Anyway this is how I think about this, and I was seriously looking forward playing S3.
But after watching this trailer, I'm seriously disappointed about how they will handle S3 and not really looking forward playing it.
I would like to see, if other people think the same about this our if you have a different opinion about this
Edit: I see, allot of people commenting on how, having two protagonist worked really well in Tales from the Borderlands.
But for me this was not the case, and I really disliked it because, I really do not like having dialouge choices/conversations.
Between two characters, I am both playing as and from this short trailer of The Walking Dead S3, I really got the feeling.
They will be doing the two protagonist story, In a similliar way this season of twd.
Not trying to offend anyone, who enjoyed playing TFTB btw Its just that I really dislike, this type of character interaction.
Comments
I see it as no different then when we played Lee for Season 1 and then Clementine for Season 2. Both were protagonists and I think Telltale is just picking up from that mindset.
I'm actually quite excited for two protagonists. We'll see how will that work out in TWD universe.
I see it in a way, S1 was the start of this series.
S3 Is not and I dont think it is good-story telling to introduce us to a new character that will be the protagonist.
At this point in the series.
I think it could work but they should attempt to keep them separate somewhat, maybe an episode as clem and then divide out once they split up
Remember about that one idea someone on this forum had about Clementine's behavior in Season 2 affecting whether or not she leaves the protagonist of Season 3 to die a horrible death, or instead risks her life to save them instead of abandoning them?
I have a feeling that with this direction Season 3 is taking, this idea just might end up happening. We grow attached to Javier as a character and protagonist, we spend the majority of the new story as Clementine's partner and confidant, and go through so much together supporting one and another. Then come the finale, and Javier's fate is now on Clementine's hands. This is her darkest hour, and the choice she makes is now her own, which is also heavily influenced by how she behaved in back in Season 2.
Nearly every past choice could then come back to haunt the player when they may end up being betrayed by Clementine when she chooses not to save Javier (who the player now controls), because the player worked hard to make Clementine behave that way in Season 2, and is now at the receiving end of her pragmatic and ruthless stance in survival that the player had helped create in the first place.
I think it would be better to stick to one protagonist, just because of the fact, that we already know Clementine and her character. But we don´t know rarely anything about Javier, he is a whole new Character to the Series and has no Connection to Clementine (so far).
Switching to Clementine as playable CHaracter in Season 2, was easier, because we already knew her.
I think its gonna be hard, to Create a smooth expercience of Story Telling by switching the Protagonists, but I am definetly excited to play the Game.
In my opinion, it's a good idea. I've always liked Clem as a character, but I just didn't like playing as her in S2, so I'm glad they've finally given us the choice to pick our own protagonist. Would I have preferred if they used someone from 400 days? Yes. But I also think that in order to give S3 it's own identity and separate it from the other titles so far, it will need new interesting characters, who bring something original to the story. I'm also sure TT are well and truly capable of developing a new protagonist like Javier. I mean, if they put in the effort and give his character an interesting personality, I'm sure it'll be enjoyable playing as him.
Yes, that idea would make for a good story .
But I do not see why they would have to use, some random new character.
When they already introduced well-written characters in the Michonne series and both 400-days.
That could have also taken the role of protagonist instead of this new character.
I liked the way it worked in Tales from the Borderlands so i am interested in seeing how it will work in The Walking Dead, one thing i missed about season 2 was talking to Clementine but i also enjoyed playing as Clementine so it might be fun to have both options in season 3.
Ttg already gave us such xperience in GoT...about 5 protagonists
So 2 will do fine. And clem is one of 'em, so no problem
But for me this is something, I cannot be hyped for XD
And I'm just disappointed, because I had high hopes for S3
And I was under the impression, we would be playing as a character introduced in the 400-days game or the Michonne series.
He's only "some randon guy" because you haven't played the game yet.
Yes, ofcourse I understand that.
But I just think it is a bad way of introducing the new playable character.
Instead of using a character we already knew, from one of the previous games.
Well, people are allowed to express their opinions on what they've seen. If someone's disappointed by what they've seen in the teaser, they have the right to say it and not be expected to just "get hyped" because that's what they're apparently "meant" to do.
I get that but you never know, he might have potential and change your mind.
I had a similar opinion when I was worried we'd play as some random guy instead of Clementine. The mere thought made no sense to me.
Tales From the Borderlands did it well, I have confidence.
If it's as good as Tales From the Borderlands, I won't mind. It's just a little weird since we know so much about Clementine but nothing about Javier. I was one of the people complaining about how I would like to play as an adult though so I won't complain anymore.
I'm confident it'll work. I'm not insanely excited to play as Javier but that's just because I know nothing about him. I'm sure when the game premieres he'll be an interesting enough character.
While I still don't think TWD is a series that needs multiple playable characters like GOT, I still think it's a pretty interesting idea and I am looking forward to it. Playing as two characters worked perfectly in TFTBL, so now let's see how TWD handles it. It pleases both sides, those who don't want to play as Clem and those that do, and really opens the possibility of our choices from Season 1 and 2 affecting Clem's personality and mentality.
Well, Telltale did 2 playable characters well with TFTBL, I don't have any doubts about TWDS3. Teaser looked promising though.
Dayumnn there's still hope... im praying for the writers pls don't suck....pls don't screw it up again...
Hope for...?
I feel like it's an awesome idea and I'm looking foreward to see how it will be handled.
Why not? Different POVs are used in both the comics and the TV show (both Fear and the original).
I wouldn't be so worried, TellTale knows how to handle multiple protagonists. In GoT we had 4 simultaneous POVs! They all had rich personalities, they all were extremely likable, they all had their own personal plot and struggles. In Tales we had two POVs that complemented each other perfectly. They even interacted with eachother and they complemented eachother's plot. They were as developed as the GoT protagonists. None of them felt that they lacked development in any way.
By the mark on his neck I believe that Javier is heavily involved in the main plot. He obviously did something or was apart of something that makes his character relevant to the plot. And besides, some players (such as me) want someone new... a blank slate that has no set personality that we have to follow. seriously this series needed new blood, we've already had 2 seasons of Clementine! The first one taking care of her and the second one being her. In the third one she'll still be there but (hopefully) she will not be the main focus anymore.
I think we all know why Samantha can't be the new protagonist... Paige is in a community close to Rick taking care of two kids. The 400 days characters have history with Clem. Imagine if Vince (just using Vince as an example) was playable and you convinced him to join Carver's camp as Tavia. Would it make sense for him to be Clem's new pal? Clem destroyed his community!
I'm definitely excited for two PCs, I hope it works just as well as TFTB which got it down amazingly.
Yes, I agree GOT was an amazing game
but in GOT all our protagonist where on a different location.
So in a way they each had their own story, I dont think this will be the case in TWD.
I dont like the idea playing as two different characters, and have them talk to eachother. ( I Also didn't like playing TFTB )
But they could have also introduced Shel for example with a mark, in her neck and have her be heavily involved in the main-plot.
I dont think Vince and Clementine, would recognise eachother.
It is not like they had much conversation with eachother while being at Howe's.
And if they do talk about Carver's camp, after they knew eachother for a while I dont think Vince, would have held Clementine responsible.
For the destruction of his community, because he seems to be a reasonable guy in my opinion.
I'm not 100% on board with 2 protagonists, but I still have my hopes. I'm very happy to see Clementine back and this new guy will have to be quite something to impress me considering Clem was with us for both seasons and he's new. They did say the game will be bigger, so that sounds like he'll have plenty of time to develop. I've always believed that this was Clementine's story, but maybe the writers know what they're doing just like Tales from the Borderlands.
Can't wait for the days when everyone around here starts playing favorites and the argument war's begin.
I think I'd prefer to play only as Clem, but I can only say how I really feel about it once I play it myself...
I'm ok with it. I actually think Javier is the beginning of something awesome for Clementine. Just hoping he doesn't die, or betray.
season 3's plot
CELMENTINE! CLEMENTINE CLEMENTINE CLEMENTINE
The game is not meant for just you it meant for all old and new players . and form the comment's you can see more people are open to it then apposed. So even if we could change it (witch we shouldn't nor have the right to) the Majority rule has said stay the course with this choice.
I love this so much.
As I stated in another thread, It would be awesome if we played as Clem in flashbacks (explaining what happend to her while travelling with Kenny/Jane) and Javier would be our timeskip protagonist. It would giive both of them enough space for development if done properly.
No matter what ideas they have, I believe It will turn out to be good, especially If this is the same team that wrote Tales from the Borderlands.
Ofcourse I know that , im just typing my opinion how I think about this.
And I have no problem, with others who think this is a good idea
Having an opinion is fine and by all means share it. But just be prepared for comments like mine putting and Opposed opinion on it. I gave an argument why i think your Opinion might not work so in turn you should counter argue yours instead of just saying 'My Opinion don't argue"and thank you for saying you have no issues on others views on it your better then most commenters i see here.
I do not like the way, you started your comment like I am a selfish person.
Who thinks, the game is only made for me.
And I didn't type my comment back to you in a way like "My Opinion don't argue"
I Actually told you, I dont think this game is only made for me, and that I respect people who think it is a good idea. Playing as two characters.
Well said. and i apologize if i have offend you i just have a very up front some might say little to aggressive way of putting things.
Its ok
Apology Accepted.
I think it'll turn out okay, I've yet to see a Telltale game where they failed to portray multiple playable characters in one episode.
And for all we know, Javier could be an old acquaintance of someone we know.
