You have a point but at the same time it doesn't have to be recent.… more It could have happened fairly recently to the ending of season two. The reason for it still being wrapped up could be she just doesn't like the look of it.
If it was recent to the teaser I would think there would be a lot of blood on the bandage, assuming she didn't just change the bandage which is unlikely that she did. If a finger were to get cut off like that, a bandage that small would be drenched in blood soon after being applied.
I'm kind of hoping that the first hour is what leads up to the present. Would be awesome to have an hour of content exclusive to an ending but might be more work than reall needed x.x
That is really cool to learn, but I hope choices having an effect is a little more than that. I also am hoping the timeskip is handled differently than S2. Give us a little more to play out, not 10-15 minute intro followed by 2-3 year time skip.

I dont think AJ will bite off her finger. People always complained about how Clemetine was able to take care of a baby all by herself (in the alone-ending). I think its very likely that she went out of food or she found no place for them to stay warm and AJ froze to death or something like that. Maybe Clementine wasnt even aware he died and was checking him while he was turning and he just bit in her finger. A bite means death if you dont cut off the infected part, so she cut off her finger to prevent death. Just my idea, cause I think its more likely this event could happen if Clementine was alone and that it could be prevented if she went with Kenny/Jane.
A lot of the time big injuries doesn't cicatrize properly ( Or take a long time to be cicatrized ), so to not let it get infected, keep changing the bandage is probably a good idea.

I don't really have an idea for if you go alone other than you encounter someone dangerous.
It's unlikely, but if you chose to go with Kenny instead of stay at wellington, a possibility for losing her finger could be frost bite.

It is highly unlikely that happens but Lilly is probably still alive, like Christina, so they might make another appearance.
