Is anyone pissed off about the new name
For some reason The walking dead Season 3 sounds much better than the new frontier, it doesnt have the same feel to it and it sounds like a whole new storyline that doesn't have anything to do with season 1 or 2

I don't know why the thread was posted twice
No because its just a fucking name. If you don't like the name just keep calling it season 3. No one cares.
It's quite cringeworthy and cheesy.
Its actually "The Walking Dead - The Telltale Series: A New Frontier"
Really are we complaining about the name?
It IS Season 3, regardless of what they call it. I see no reason to get pissy over a technicality. They are probably calling it The New Frontier to distance it from the others games, since it is supposed to appeal to new players as well and not be solely a continuation of Season 2.
I don't like it, but I don't really care all too much about the name either.
While I don't think it's the BEST title they could have picked for it, let alone given it a title at all, I'm not judging the game based on the title.
When I talk to my friends about it, I'm not gonna go "Guys, oh my God! Clementine and Javier on The Walking Dead: A New Frontier last night totally killed this guy! It was so fucked!"
Nah. Doesn't flow well.
"Guys, last night on Season 3, Clementine and Javier totally killed this guy! It was so fucked!"
Phew. That's better.
It is meh.
Implying we all will care about using the new name lol.
I don't really care. It's just a name, sheesh.
Why is it such a big deal anyway. It's not like it's gonna stop you from playing it.
That's the point I'm trying to make. It doesn't even matter.
You know what? Why don't they just use the best of both worlds?
The Walking Dead Season Three: A New Frontier
There. You can call it S3 and keep the name. Having both in the title better illustrates that it's just as much a continuation as it is something new.
Only question is where they'd fit 'The Telltale Series' into that title. If you ask me, they're better off dropping that from the title completely. Keep it underneath the logo and all that, sure, but don't use it as part of the title. I mean, I think everyone already knows whose series it is.
If the only thing people are worrying about is the name, then we're golden.
You are completely right! This game is going to be bad Only because of the name! /s
All you people sure love to make a big deal out of nothing. It's just a fucking name. This is the exact same reaction as when Michonne was announced.
You all came up with such dumb ass responses like, "They is doing a Micchone game??? Wats nxt? The Walking Dead: Carl????!!!". As if a game based on a popular character that was missing for a lengthy amount of time was such an absurd idea.
And now it's "The Walking Dead: A New Frontier??? Wats nxt??? The Walking Dead: Harambee returns???". As if giving it a name other than Season 3 is such an out of this world concept.
If this is seriously all you have to get pissed about then all y'all are too young to be playing these games.
I'm fine with the title. The name will not neccessarily affect the way the story plays out, so it's almost irrelevant to me. I actually like 'The Walking Dead: A New Frontier", although throwing in "The Telltale Series" makes it a bit of a mouthful. I'll probably refer to it as Season 3 though, because I've practically been programmed to.
The only problem is that it suggests a seperation from Season 1 and 2, but I don't know anymore. Of course they're not going to get up and scream "Hey assholes! Your choices won't matter and all you'll get is dia-fucking-logue!" during a panel, but I get the feeling that they will really try to incorporate choices well this time.
You call it being naive, I call it being hopeful. We don't know what will happen yet, and although worrying and doubt is normal, I don't think this is a reason to lose all your of hype. (If you even had any) They are trying to introduce new-players, but that doesn't automatically mean it's going to suck and that they're going to neglect their loyal fans. We really just don't know.
Is that not allowed?

Deltino 2016
Randall now, Randall tomorrow, Randall forever.
That's the word I was looking for.
Who gives a fuck...
^ Give this man a cookie
I think this new name is all for the sake of the new players that TT wants to appeal to. Season 3 would imply that the game is sooo far into the story that any new guy or gal would be lost going in. This title woud pretty much annihilate any fear of that happening. New people could see it as a chance to get a brand new Walking Dead game. I'm also assuming this title will fit the story of the game somehow. In short it's a business move to get more of dat money honey.
I just like the ideal that Telltale is self-aware and knew how balls No Going Back was, so they opted to ret-con the whole thing in favor of naming this new season something entirely different.
I'm not playing it anymore though.
I was on board with this new season up until they named it The New Frontier. Now every time I tell my parents about it, I'll have to take valuable time that could be spend stuffing my face with Doritos and MLGing to explain that it's the third game in a franchise. It'll take me a whopping 4 seconds, the same time I could've reached for the knife I need to open my wrists cause life is so unfair for me right now.

Is it just me, or is there a bit of a double standard when it comes to the name?
What I mean is, if A New Frontier was the name of the first episode and not the season itself, no one would bat an eye. But because it's part of the title, people are getting all ruffled.
No offense to people who don't like the name, but I don't really get the complaints. And it's not like the name really matters all that much. Seriously, outside of promotional material and what such, just about everyone's going to refer to it as S3, because it's a lot simpler that way. Look at the Mr. Robot game. How many people call it 1.51exfiltrati0n? Not very many, because it's easier to just call it the Mr. Robot game.
I didn't expect everyone to have such strong opinions on this, yikes.
Let's refrain from insults and such, over something very trivial.
It's still Season 3, so you know.
Hey, at least they kept in Walking Dead tradition with a 3 word title. Actually, it sounds something the comics would have used, for say, Volume 22.
I understand completely why the title has A New Frontier in it completely. It makes a lot of sense in the context of the comics.
My sarcasm detector is going off.
...So, wait - people have gone from complaining that Season 2 relied too heavily on Season 1 nostalgia to complaining that Season 3 is pursuing a newer story (while still acting as a continuation for Clem's story)?
I think it's more about the connotations of it being a new story as opposed to a continuation. However, I don't really get that complaint as people said Season 2 relied too heavily on Season 1 nostalgia, not to mention that A New Frontier is still a canon continuation for Clem's story - and it's not just going to attempt to be a retread of Seasons 1/2. This should be a good thing for people who had various complaints about Season 2.
Just call it Season 3 then. It's still a 3rd season regardless.
My sarcasm detector is going on suicide watch.
When I look at the name 'A New Frontier', it reads to me like something out the name of a typical Star Wars film or a super heroes animated episode.
It just...doesn't sound like it fits as a title about the zombie apocalypse. It sounds too grandiose, though that's just me.
That being said I don't really care too much about the name of the title, and I can learn to get over it soon enough.
Naming the third season A New Frontier instead of Season Three completely alienates the fact that this is a series with a Season Two, which only reinforces the popular opinion that it was mediocre, or even deficient. If the second season had had a name as well nobody would be complaining right now.
From what I've seen, people think that S2 didn't have enough references to S1. Every time new episode was released there were people complaining that Christa, Molly, Lily, Nate, Eddie, Lee's wife didn't appeared. Besides the return of Kenneth ( which in my opinion was handled fantastically and made Gavin Hammon my favourite voice actor) and this touching flashback/dream sequence in ep. 5 there wasn't really any pandering to fans.
I'm not crazy about it, no. And I think what bothers the most is the inconsistency. It goes Season 1, Season 2, A New Frontier. It doesn't really flow as a reference to the same continuous story, even if it does add some new elements and characters for new players. I agree with @BetterToSleep that if season 2 had a title too, it wouldn't be such a big deal to fans of the franchise because it would at least be consistent.
It sounds like a Walking Dead-esque name judging from the titles of the comics. In any case, its no reason to be angry.
