Anyone else hate Luke after episode 4?
Not trying to start an argument or debate, just wanna see if there's anyone else who felt the same way. Is there anyone else who lost all respect for him after the Jane incident?

Um, okay.
No. Far as I'm concerned, he made a mistake. I just don't see any reason to hold it against him. Sure, it put people in danger, but people like Ben arguably caused even worse problems for the group, and I forgave them, so it wouldn't make sense for me to condemn Luke.
Or more simply put: No, I'm too forgiving.
Difference is Ben was trying to help when he screwed up, Luke left a woman in labour in an unprotected position to get laid, he knew she was in labour and was given a specific job to do. I could actually forgive that if not for his reaction afterward and back handed apology.
Hate is a pretty strong word, but I did feel disappointed in him.
I did spend the majority of my time sticking up for Luke in the past few episodes, especially with how I felt that his loyalty and his attempt to rescue his kidnapped friends from Carver were unfairly downplayed at the time.
But by the time Episode 4 rolled around I found myself feeling frustrated by his sudden change in his character, and at the time I was angry at his sudden attraction to a stranger that had arguably compromised the safety of his friends, whom he had spent the majority of Episode 3 trying to rescue in the first place.
I did cool down in Episode 5 and gave Luke another chance, but it was unfortunate that the chance had felt wasted once Luke had met his end in an anti-climatic fashion with no payoff.
His attraction to Jane is another thing that pissed me off, why is he so fond of a woman who pretty much has the opposite philosophy of him? It came off as if he never believed in it in the first place or was willing to ignore it for a piece of ass.
I did cool down after ep 5, but I never fully forgave him(before that I hated him with a passion) he was such a douche in ep 4, the Jane thing was just what topped it off.
Nah,man. Let him have his moment.
Even in spite of that, I just can't bring myself to hold it against him
I dont get why people make such a big deal out of it, he was a bit reckless one time, its probably the first time Luke became more complex than generic nice guy....I mean Luke was a bit annoying in episode 4, he was made the "alternative to kenny" of the episode.
Luke is my second lee i will never hate him
He never get mad at me even when i act with him in an ass way
It was quite surprising I must say, because moments before...yeah that mistake..he was talking to Clementine how he doesn't trust Jane. LMAO LUKE.
I can't hate him for that, I wouldn't have turned her down either.
He still means well.
Out of all the cabin group deaths, his disturbed me the most 'cause I liked him so much.
Naw. Him and Jane doing that during everything was stupid and reckless, but I don't hate him for it. It was frustrating, sure, but it was just one mistake.
A lot of my favorite characters in this game have done so much worse. It would be a little hypocritical of me to condemn Luke but praise another person that has made more numerous and severe errors. Humans are hypocritical by nature. Of course hypocrisy isn't something to be praised, although we all are hypocrites to a certain degree. So if I did it wouldn't be the end of the world. But...why am I talking about this now? Sorry.
Nope. Luke's only human (and felt human heh). In hindsight it was a mistake, but the guy took an opportunity that many others would have done as well. He deserves some yelling at and an angry look, but that's really it. Plus the guy is one of the nicest dudes we ever come across.
The power of the nookie.
Not really. As opposed to other characters who made numerous mistakes that put their group in danger, I don't think I can really fault Luke for only making one mistake. Everyone at one point in time will have at least one momentary lapse in judgement, and I'd say him fucking Jane was one of them. Was it a bad move? Absolutely. But like I said, I can't really be that pissed at him for simply just making one mistake as opposed to characters like Ben, who have made dozens of mistakes that either got people killed or almost screwed the group over.
I honestly didn't think he was a nice character at all in episode 4, it wasn't even a mistake in the way same way Ben made mistakes. After doing what he did, he gives the douchiest apology which pretty much amounts to "what I did was bad, but it wasn't a big deal quit picking on me."
Keep in mind he knew Rebecca was in labour, he was given a specific job to do and still went to get laid. It wasn't even really a screw up so much as abandoning his supposed friend(he knew Rebecca was vulnerable) and risking his group's life for pleasure.
After he's caught he doesn't even get that he did something wrong, more mad at Kenny for calling him out than actually feeling bad. Once he see's a bunch of Walker's got past he finally apologizes. Once it's all over he doesn't feel bad anymore and wants to screw Jane again, and is more upset that she left than that he almost got his friends killed.
Kenny is visibly irritated by Luke's behaviour and takes a jab which may or may not of been necessary, but Luke's reaction is very distressing. Kenny has to badger a backhanded apology out of Luke, who up until now was acting like nothing happened and doesn't think what he did was a big deal. He pretty much has no remorse and is shocked that people would be angry at him, pretty much only apologizing so he'd be left alone.
I respectfully disagree, the only thing worse I can think of the top of my head(I mean pure selfishness not mistakes/screw ups) are Mike and Bonnie leaving children to die to save their asses.
I think what he did was worse than most people think it is, but it wasn't even really that so much as his reaction afterward.
He had his lapse in judgement while Rebecca was in labour, he was given a specific job that was probably the most important out of all of them. Rebecca needed help to escape and could've very well been killed.
Never hated Luke, his fling with Jane was a mistake, he admitted that much and honestly I can't blame him for it. The apocalypse is a stressful time, and there is a difference between what it means to be living and surviving. Luke is awesome, only thing I hate was his death
He wasn't exactly sorry, he had to be badgered into giving a backhanded apology and was shown to hardly feel guilty. Keep in mind he didn't just have his fling while he had a job but while Rebecca was in labour, in intense pain and incredibly vulnerable all of which Luke was fully aware.
True and I'm not saying that what Luke did wasn't a dick move. It was and it was frustrating. But I didn't by any means lose all respect for him.
It did for me, he chose tail over his friends(it would of been one thing if he didn't know they were in danger, but he did) I could've honestly gotten over it if he felt any real remorse.
How about Kenny getting Walter killed? Surely that was worse.
"He wasn't exactly sorry", yeah no apologizing for his actions isn't being sorry I guess?
No, not even close, Kenny was trying to rescue them, Mike and Bonnie were leaving children to die to save their asses.
So you hate any characters who get mad at you but like any character that doesn't?
He doesn't apologize until Kenny tells him they have a bunch of zombies trying to kill them, before that he doesn't understand what he did was wrong and is angry at Kenny for calling him out, after all this he acts like everything's normal and just wants to be with Jane again, his second apology(which he's badgered into) is backhanded excuse making one at best.
I don't "hate" any character in either game, even guys like Carver, Larry, The Stranger or The St John's. All were brilliantly written but I don't hate them and i wish people didn't hate anyone really, real or not. There's enough hate in this world.
I liked Luke in Episode 1 and most of Episode 2 until near the end when i felt he abandoned his friends. In Episode 3 he mounted a rescue of his friends (god knows how he made it all the way back to Howe's though?), I appreciated him for doing that. Episode 4 i found him ok up until the sex with Jane thing as it was a very stupid thing to do at the worst possible time. Episode 5 i had no issues with him at all.
Wow you have something to say dan i realy start missing you its start geting lame around here
Fair enough, I considered Luke's actions more of a betrayal than a harmless screw up, it wasn't like it was generic guard duty and something happened the one time he left his post, he knew Rebecca was in labor and was given a specific order related to a crisis situation involving one of his friends and he abandoned it for sex, I cooled down by the time ep 5 came out, but I cringed at the bit where they brought it up again.
Oh boy! Here we go!
No. Jane was the top priority of my hatred at the time anyway, but at least Luke showed actual guilt for slacking off and when he just unloaded at Kenny about why he did it, I understood. I was still disappointed that even he wasn't holding up to well, but I understood and silently forgave him at some point.
Hell no. He wasn't proud of it and he felt bad after all.
Luke had to badgered into an apology, before that he's talking to Clementine like nothing happened and he's more upset that Jane left than that he almost got his friends killed.
As I stated in their and Arvo's respective recent discussions, I kinda got the mutual vibe that getting ready to get out of there was the first priority at the moment and Clementine coming out and essentially catching them in the act when she did put them in an awkward spot. Mike in particular seemed to genuinely regret having to be in that position and he seemed to genuinely want to just talk with Clementine about it without causing too much of a fuss, despite Arvo and determinately Bonnie's visual discomfort about dealing with her. After all, whether you actually believe them or not, would you really feel confident telling Clementine it's not what it looks like when she has a gun drawn on you?
If you ask to go with them, he agrees (not noticing Arvo's anxious disagreement behind him) but asks for the gun just to be safe, which obviously was supposed to open up his potential death should Clementine decide she wants to strike him down. When she prepares give it to him, he reinforces that he's not gonna hurt her and reassuringly tells her its okay when she does so clumsily, apparently getting ready to invite her along if she doesn't wake up Kenny--too bad Arvo put a stop to that.
Not really, "I'm sorry, but I needed it" is a backhanded apology, he wasn't proud of it but he clearly thought it wasn't a big deal. He had to be pressed into an apology, before that he acts like nothing happened, and when he's called out he writes it off as a minor screw up.
If Kenny was as bad as they thought, they should've taken the kids by force, or at least not steal all the supplies(they weren't taking a portion but all of them) Between the stealing of the truck and supplies, the group was pretty much guaranteed to die. If you're pro Kenny they stole the truck he fixed and left him Clem to die, if you're anti Kenny they left a bunch of kids with an abusive monster and no supplies(which would surely leave even him more ill tempered and volatile than he was)
It would be easy to take Clementine with them when she asked, that doesn't impress me(what reason would they have to refuse her?) Either way I don't sympathize with them and consider them selfish traitors .
You are nuts...Kenny acted stupidly...without thought. Clementine told him not to......LOL Ole Kenny knew better.
First no need for insults or personal attacks, second of all I never said Kenny did the right/wrong thing, all that I was saying was Kenny was trying to rescue his friends, big difference between that and robbing your former friends of there supplies and truck, something that would probably kill them given it's winter time. One's a mistake made while trying to help, the other's betraying your friends.
