  • Wow, are people seriously that mad at Clementine being forced to share the spotlight and having another character's story share focus?

I hope at the end of the Season, Clementine has to die to make a sacrifice so that Javier must live, and that Javier has his role cemented as the new main protagonist of Telltale's Walking Dead (and this cannot be influenced or prevented by player choice).

After this, I hope that Javier goes on to have a story in Season 4 where he is the only playable character, and goes on to get even more Seasons/Mini Series/DLC Episodes as the solo playable character than Clementine or Lee ever did.

  • Javier: Clem, what's wrong?
Clementine: Shut up Javier, you don't know how I feel!

I have a feeling that angsty teenage Clem is coming...

  • I'm not mad that Clementine has to share the spotlight with Javier, I'm sure Telltale will convince to like him, I just care more for Clem than Javier, and the only way for Clem to die in my playthrough would have to be something that cannot be influenced or prevented by player choice.

But don't you think that will turn a lot of people off from Telltale' s TWD? Clementine is basically the Rick Grimes of Telltale' s version.

And to be honest, I'm pretty excited to see angsty teenage Clem. I actually want to see a scene where Clem finally breaks down, and Javier has to comfort and console her. It would be powerful and emotionally touching.

Javier: Clem, what's wrong? Clementine: Shut up Javier, you don't know how I feel! I have a feeling that angsty teenage Clem is coming...

  • That was just a sarcastic joke in response to all the people genuinely hoping that Javier dies because his story is coexisting alongside Clem's.

I've always liked how people's go-to reaction when there's a character in TWD that they don't like is "I hope they die horribly"

It's like, you can't just settle for them going missing, or having them leave the group or something like that. No, that's too easy. People want to see them kick the bucket in graphic detail.

Like, in just about any other game/movie/show, when there's a character people don't like, they're all like "I hope they write this guy out of the story," "I hope this guy leaves the hospital," "I hope this guy graduates," "I hope this guy retires," or "I hope this guy's prison sentence is up."

Then with the TWD it's all like "I hope this guy breaks every bone in his body and gets eaten alive"

That was just a sarcastic joke in response to all the people genuinely hoping that Javier dies because his story is coexisting alongside Clem's.

  • I guarantee you the same people who want Javier to die, are going to be main ones pleading for him to live by the time Ep 5 comes out.

  • I'm sure I'm going to really like Javier by episode 5, because that's Telltale's magic.

  • I just care more for Clem than Javier,

No offence but no shit, You care about an established character more than a new person. You know nothing about the guy, why would you care about him at all? I dont quite get why everyone thinks they are suddenly expected to love this new character more than clementine.

I dont mind people feeling that really as long as there is a reason but no one here has a reason apart from that he might take some of the spotlight from clementine, the character hasnt done anything at all onscreen yet

Yeah. Like, that reminds me of a post someone else previously made where they were comparing Javier to Lee, and said "At least Lee had charisma - Javier has none!" Well, we've only seen Javier for like 15 seconds on a teaser trailer with one line of dialogue from him - it's not exactly a fair comparison to make to a character you played as for five episodes.

  • Javier honestly seems like a likable character, we just don't know anything about him yet, I'm sure everyone will like him by episode 3.

  • Wow. People either think Clem should be the only one, or are okay with both characters.

  • You liking it means that it's a curious phenomenon, or does it mean that you are glad that this takes place as it does?

And these stubborn people, as they already have preconceived the idea that they will dislike Javier, will continue to whine about it in any and every threads as soon as the first episode is released.

  • I am DEAD SERIOUS, if Clementine dies this season, I would seriously just lose it. Gone batshit insane.

If this happened, words can't describe how much I would absolutely hate this.

  • I don't delete it (unless that is all the message has), I just edit it from large text to bold text if large text is not being used for something like labeling or giving a title to a part of a post, or if it is not otherwise being used sparingly. I do it so that messages don't get distracted and cluttered. However, in this case, the joke was that the message was supposed to be ironically distracting. So, yes, I'm making an exception for the purpose of my joke.

As I said before, it's about the context (using it to title or label something) and using it sparingly.

  • Just being real with all of you guys, I seriously think Clementine's death would have a bigger, more emotional impact on me than Lee's did.

  • It seems that even people who were making jokes as you are or used it in the correct way have had their big text reduced to bold text. Not trying to call you out or anything but it just seems kind of unfair that you alone are allowed to decide whether it's worthy of big text or not based on, what seems, your own interest.

But yeah, no need to explain again 'cause I think you'll give me the same reason. I just thought it was kinda odd.

I understand where you are coming from, although I wasn't sure if I noticed people using it ironically or not (I'm not saying that to be snarky or anything - I genuinely may have not picked up on that). I'm trying to figure out how to get people to cut down on using it without good reason, but as you said, you already know that.

If I have edited posts that used it for stuff like labeling/giving a title or whatever, that must have been an accident on my part and they can revert it. The reasons I gave above are not the only situations you are allowed to use it in, but I want it in the long run to be used sparingly instead of people just using it whenever when bold text will do. These new examples I came up with are basically kind of training wheels to see how we can get it to be used more sparingly in general.

The harder stance I'm temporarily taking right now is just to introduce the idea that we'd like for large text to only be used in special cases, and not just for it to be used randomly when bold text would do. In the long run, I want to eventually reach a point where we all collectively know to use it in special situations instead of using it randomly, if that makes sense. As I said, I just used stuff like "titles/headings" as one example of when it is okay. At this point, saying "special situations" is too vague, I would imagine.

And even when Lee was with us, Clem was still my favorite. She's become my all time favorite character in gaming.
