I want to continue with Clementine, who is with me? I think she's the perfect protagonist.
I personally feel that Telltale made the right choice of having two protagonists. It is refreshing to have a new character to play and develop, while still playing as Clementine.
So many people saying stuff like, "I don't wanna play as Javier! He's boring." Or "Clementine all the way. Fuck Javier." It seems as though people have traveled into the future, played the game, and experienced what kind of character Javier is. Oh wait. They didn't.
Guys, the game hasn't been released yet. All we have are screenshots and a teaser trailer that barely lasts a minute. Why don't you save your judgements for Javier for when you actually play the game.
it worked in tales from the borderlands not sure why it won't work here.
Personally, I'm glad to play as a companion of Clementine. I want to see how this girl, who was shaped during two seasons by my actions, will react to different situation, what she would say about her past...
And I'm glad to be able to see it through Javier's eyes.
And the passages in which I will play as Clementine is a great bonus for me, nothing more.
The problem is that Clementine is still around and we don't get to decide her 100%
It seems like a bit of a half-assed attempt to test the waters and see if they can move away from Clementine without actually doing so completely, like they are testing the fan base or easing their way into removing her completely.
I'm going to reserve my judgement for Javier, but my experience with storeis like this where they try to share the spotlight with the real main character it always goes wrong.
They took the right approach. Not having Clementine probably would've just upset some fans, while this way, with her still being a protagonist but allowing Javier to have his story, leaves a win-win situation. The Clementine fans get to see her again and those of us who aren't as interested in her character are allowed to experience someone new.
People gotta get mad at something.
I would've preffered just Clementine as the protagonist, adding Javier seems really uneccessary. However I'm not completely against it, I'm willing to give it a chance, I just have a preference.
Eh, I'm skeptical at the proposition that a game that has choice driven dynamics at the forefront of the games' integral structure is now spreading itself thin by use of a radically new plot-line for a recurring character, and a brand new one that'll no doubt need a large focus in order to distinguish his many personality traits. Add on to that multiple timelines meaning a restricted focus of the characters and choices more likely being arbitrarily fed. And to add on to all of it, it means a bigger possibility that the characters we're controlling could run a risk of seeming less distinct because of us controlling their dialogue and actions and possibility overlapping certain characteristics into each other.
Added on to all those restrictions, TWD is an episodic format meaning further time crunches each episode will have to have in order to supply a continually absorbing and entertaining experience.
I just don't know at this point.
Except Tales was a more comedic themed game without the pressure of really having to get players emotionally engaged with anything and was more centered with funny one-liners and just an overall more light narrative tone.
Plus, it also was one of the longest Telltale games and had the added benefit of not having multiple timelines to have to follow.
don't know about you but i cared about the characters in tales. i prefer darker stories but being silly does not mean you can't get attached to characters.
But I never said that the characters weren't good, just that the tone was less heavy than what TWD is which greatly effects the experience.
i wish they remove clementine and keep javier.
"Minority", huh?
"Minority" as in "less than half of the entire percentage."
Considering there were more than two multiple electives to choose from, and that only 5 people outright voted against Clementine's agency as a playable character. I'd say it's more appropriate to state only a minority don't want to play as Clem.
I want to withhold judgement until I see more Javier.
Except that only 4% of the voters are openly against it and 86% of voters are in favor of it one way or another, while 10% are neutral on the matter. I'd hardly call that a minority.
Then the users that are against playing as Javier are a minority as well.
I suppose that's correct.
Sure. I mean, I never brought Javier up, but ok I guess...
I honestly thought this was Clementine's story, so her graduated to the main protagonist and continueing that just made sense. However I'm thinking that TT may have some good ideas they want to implement in their new story so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and just remain skeptical till proven otherwise.
I feel that Telltale made a good move with this decision. Clementine still remains at the forefront as a playable protagonist, and for those that were losing interest in controlling Clementine, there is another protagonist. I see much potential for the continuation of Clementine's story and character. Additionally, we will get to see what our Clementine has become while we are controlling Javier, so I regard this situation as a win-win. If Javier is developed well and given a non-determinant personality and interesting background, then we have two awesome characters! Of course there is potential for issues, but any premesis has a potential for narrative mishaps. I'm excited to see what Telltale brings to the table.
Preferred just Clem. But playing as Clem and Javier would be the second best in my opinion.
For the record, the poll will be open until November 14th, so don't forget to take a second and participate if you haven't yet by clicking here!
give it a chance is what I say.
Since the release date has been confirmed to be December 20th, new votes will be acknowledged until the day before. Be sure to contribute and support the option you agree with the most, now!
I would have preferred to only use Clem...but here's hoping the ladies like Javier's Latino Heat!
Can I vote, I'll wait and see?
I love clem. I know nothing about javier. It depends on the character.
This poll is for gathering the feeling of users before the release of A New Frontier, when we are just being driven by our expectations! More polls will be created after each episode.
I think this poll is way too early to say. Javier could be a great character and breath of fresh air. I love Clementine but it's nice to have a new playable character to join the mix and affect things.
Gotta be honest. I don't care for Javier. He shouldn't have enough of a focus to be a playable character. The fact that he is and since I heard that this season will be his story means that I won't be preorder this season like I did the last two, just so I don't pay for episodes I might choose not to play. This series is clementines story. Javier is a mistake.
Only reason I'm mad at him is because in TTG's point of view he's the "replacement" of either Kenny or Jane
Just voted for the second vote. The results prove to be quite telling.
We've played as Clem in Season 2. Sure it would be nice to play her on her own again maybe in a future season but I like the whole idea of two playable protagonists.
I don't like taking control over Clem like a puppet and prefer her to act on her own, like in Season One. So I voted for Javi alone, he is a good guy and I like him.
It worked great in tales so I would've loved to see this is TWD
As I had since before the season was released, I'd have much preffered if Clementine was the sole playable character
Two playable characters, except one is only playable in some episodes for a few minutes but I guess it still counts as two?
Also, I still would prefer to play as Clementine, as after this season, I don't think I can trust TTG to show how Clementine is different based on what she's been through, as it's clear that Seasons 1 and 2 barely affected who she is as a person.
