Yes it does, hence why I think this development is saying "We done shot ourselves in the foot at some point."
Though it's not like Clementine had NO character in Season 2, but rather that she wasn't allowed to have many subplots worthy of personal investment or character specific moments very often. Hence why people tend to complain about Jane and especially Kenny getting so much emphasis at times.
Plus, I think it's a case of Season 2's problem with fanservice, nostalgia, and pandering getting ahead of itself, with Clementine now being a gaming icon taking up the protagonist role after initially being an NPC causing issues with her character.
For comparisons sake, what did you think of Lee in Season 1?
Clem's older and she's done stuff that we had no control over. I got the impression that we played as a new Clementine in S2 and it was great. She's becoming a better survivor as time goes on and as long as TT gives us some control on how she behaves or responds to a situation, I'm happy.
It means she will be more catious to trust people and most definatley even more less emotional, better at fighting and knows more on how to survive at that time. I bet she will be cruel but only to the option of the players.
Kenny actually said he raised Duck wrong and he would raise him better if he was still around, so if Kenny is raising Clem Im sure hes a much better dad, after learning.

It depends on your choices, if your a nice Clem she kinda is like a hero, certainly saved all the adults through out the game, if you do things like watching Carvers head get bashed in then yeah. In my gameplay Jane said Clem is just like Kenny so it depends. She had mostly innocent choices through out the game and less rash or cruel choices.

To @megamike15
He made up for his mistakes by protacting Clementine, ain't that enough?
It's not like he was a seriel killer that did it just for fun, he got in a fight, and it didn't end well.
The Stranger was apparently meant to resemble an evil Lee: one who lost everything he cared about due to his mistakes and is now seeking any… more method he can to redeem himself now that he has nothing left.
Because of this parallel, I thought he was an excellent way to conclude the themes Season 1 were operating by.
Even if that is true, I suppose that realistically Clementine behavior would be influenced by Kenny's, in the playthroughs that he looked after her after the ending of Season Two.
I mentioned a while ago that it would be neat if players who stayed with him until the end had a little less time to decide, as he is known to make up his mind quickly, for better or worse. Clementine could pick up on this approach during her time with him.
That should be interesting. I hope that this season focuses more on Clementine's psyche. I would like to explore more in-depth how this world has shaped her. How does she perceive the world? What are her thoughts on people, in a more general sense? How does she handle her emotions? I would like player choice to instill variations into who Clementine is, but who is she without our control? While it's likely that this Clementine will be more cold and untrusting, I would like to see her maybe break-down and become emotionally vulnerable. Well, I wouldn't like that, but it could be appropriate.
I also wonder about her morality in this upcoming season. Morality is fragile, and I would like to explore what this Clementine is capable of. Of course players will guide Clementine through various moral decisions, but I'm curious as to what our options will be, and her non-determinant beliefs. I want her to have a conscience, but I wouldn't mind and would in fact prefer if she was more of a grey character this time around. No one lives by completely selfless and virtuous thoughts and actions, and Clementine should be no exception.
Can you define "character"? Maybe I misunderstand you. I liked that playing as Clementine was like playing as myself. My only complaint is that my decisions as Clementine didn't have many consequences unlike with Lee.

So, basically, Lee.

That we know of--nah I'm kidding. Then again, given additional time...
Jane most certainly did let a woman get eaten to by time, tried to save the guy who got her son bitten, smashed an asshole's skull(twice), lost a eye, yelled at a little girl for getting her girlfriend killed, adopted a little black boy, and let both go into a place she's been searching for a long time at her own expense. Isn't she the most lovable stereotype around?
Because when I hear "catious to trust people, less emotional, better at fighting, knows more on how to survive at that time, she and cruel," I think Kenny.
Well if you refuse to listen to Jane in the car when Kenny leaves to shoot the walkers away in ep 5 and you are still on Kennys side rather than Jane she says Clem is just like Kenny, you have to disagree with her for her to say that. Im guessing Jane meant to call Clem stubborn as Kenny is aswell.
As for Clem I meant she nearly fixed every problem through out the game for the characters and saved all their lives at least once even as just a little girl.
I'm not sure how unpopular this opinion will be but...
Bring it on.
I feel like this is necessary for her character.
People often say "I don't like the new angrier, tougher Clementine because it doesn't match up with who she was in season 1". Which is fair enough but to me, personally, the way she is developing as a person is exactly what I expected. I'm not - and I doubt anyone is - the same person now as I was when I was 8. She's not turning out to be either and considering the harsh, terrible life she has been leading, I think it's completely justified.
As it is, this development slowly started gaining ground in season 2 and it seems, with this, that it's actually taking shape now.
So, I guess I'm saying I don't mind if she becomes rougher, angrier and wary. Good on her, it means she's ready for anything. It doesn't mean she needs to be heartless. Just that she only has space in her heart for those who deserve it.
In a way, it's sad because it makes us nostalgic of the times she was innocent and naive but she really needs this in order to survive in a world that will not be forgiving.

You know what, it's been so long since my first playthrough back in June that I honestly forgot about that line. Thanks for reminding me!

Yeah, that was my bad! I misread that as just "she saved all the adults" and couldn't help but laugh.

I can feel... pins... repeatedly stabbing me...
What's going on?
No problem. It's kinda easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Thank you, TVTropes! :P
Well, that and the fact that the Stranger is essentially a palette swap of Lee.
Do you keep getting an error code or something?
Yes it does, hence why I think this development is saying "We done shot ourselves in the foot at some point."

No, just whenever I try to click on the "Reply" button, nothing happens.
But it seems to be working now.
Okay then.

And, at the risk of turning this into an entry for the writing thoughts thread, why was he excellent while Clementine was [whatever]?
yeah lets have clem stay the same. all that stuff she went through yeah lets just ignore that and let her stay the innocent 8 year old forever
I swear sometimes even the mention of character development the forum goes insane.

I already saw her slowly slipping into more of an anti hero in season 2. so we may get more of that.

I suppose that's why he almost got her killed indirectly on multiple occasions within a few days.
He never got her killed or bit unlike Duck. So I guess hes learning
That still does not make him a hero!
If it does, then Omid is two heroes and Christa six!
So, basically, Lee.

Clem will be mini Kenny
That'd be dope. Can someone shop that glorious handlebar on her please?

...Eh?! I think you got the wrong poster as well.
Or Kenny. Or Nick. Or Arvo. Or Luke. And I suppose Vernon and Jane could be something of a subversion.
No but for real tho, I never thought of Lee as being quite there yet.
I am confident that I'm replying to @Acheive250.
Damned by Faint Praise!
...so, Jane except not as much of a dick?
Da hell?!
I dunno...Jane never tried to beat a kid to death.
That we know of--nah I'm kidding. Then again, given additional time...

Pick one and laugh. Or don't.
Now what?
Whaddya mean now what? I don't remember either of those things. Now that I've reread the first part, when does Jane say that?

They both had their fair share of murdering people right infront of Clem.

This is just my opinion, of course.

Well, in a way, he is a hero because he has saved Clementine, and many others many times.
I know that doesn't erase what he did, but he's a good person.
Also, how is Omid two heroes and Christa six?
