  • Maybe he was just fucking with us. And by catching up he meant him reading all the rage tweets lol

  • In michone episode 3, when you had to go round the house and hand weapons to people, that made the episode feel more like the walking dead season 1 as it had lots of those features in it, and it was good. I like being in a area for a long time and having lots of people/things to interact with instead of scenes progressing suddenly.

That was also the case when they released 90 minute episodes with a 3-4 month waiting period, which was caused by Telltale delaying episodes

As I said, they were on a trajectory since shortly before Season 1 to make their games feel like Interactive TV. Walking Dead Season 1's success validated that goal of theirs, and they think that focusing further on story/less on puzzles makes their games feel more cinematic for reasons such as pacing and player interaction. I personally disagree and would like to see the things you said (more exploration/longer episodes/etc), but that is not what Telltale took out of Season 1's success. I am a long time Telltale fan and I have been following what their trajectory was for years. I genuinely am not drinking the Kool-Aid and just trying to rationalize design choices from Telltale when I say this - they genuinely view less puzzles/hubs/etc as a good thing. They've directly said as much in interviews that they want to push ther games further towards what is essentially interactive cinema.

In their eyes, things like puzzles disrupt story pacing. As for Hubs, I assume they made hubs less extensive (and timed) to put further emphasis on their cutscenes, which are now essentially their bread and butter. As I said, I personally agree strongly with your points that more interactivity and slower pacing helps people get to know the characters better and increases story immersion, but that is not how Telltale interprets their Season 1 success story.

But I honestly don't see why they'd do that. It is illogical to assume that people don't enjoy the possibility to explore and get to know characters more, or to have longer Episodes, especially since most of it was optional anyway in Season 1.

  • Maybe plans changed, or maybe it's still happening.

  • That doesn't mean that something was going to happen publicly; maybe they meant meeting in private to organize something later? I agree he should've been more clear about that, but to play devil's advocate, it wasn't implied as a 100% guarantee.

  • Still feels like being lied to. He know's we want the game, He know's we want news. And he just rubs salt at our wounds...

  • It's not like he is doing so with malicious intent. I agree Telltale's PR needs to be more open and clear in advance, but he isn't toying with people just to rub salt in the wound.

  • If some accident happened or something, IDK.

Wait, how would they do it unintentionally? How would it suddenly stop?

  • Maybe he does? Because at this point it feels like it.

  • So basically, it'll come back as The Walking Dead Stranding?

I'm so scared that The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is gonna get the Silent Hills treatment.

Twitch guys won't be having a show next week, so looks like the footage was just a personal thing. maybe tomorrow? I dunno. Oh well.

I do think Telltale staff should check the forums more often, so that they can see what current info is being spread, and confirm whether its misinformation or accurate so that people don't get their hopes up.

  • No, it won't come back at all. That's what I'm scared of.

  • What a colossal waste of time.

  • Or it'll come back with a teaser trailer featuring Norman Reedus in the buff

Quite frankly, I have no problem with this option

As expected... They Just don't care about us.

What a colossal waste of time.

  • Let's cut out posts like that with baseless cynicism. It's okay to be disappointed, but let's keep it reasonable and grounded.

  • This is a different kind of disappointment.

  • Ok..let's go on what we know...someone..who shall remain nameless basically indicated there would be some footage this week. Now Sat is the last day of the week..but there would have been some form of update and advertising. Epic Fail.

Now this disappointment leads to a question...what is going on with the game and the Marketing.

I submit...the continued issues with the engine...frame rates and bad mobile performance, mixed with the admittedly awesome Batman which is suffering with the engine. A delay was inevitable. The engine needs a lot of optimizing. There is probably so much legacy code that it is a nightmare.

If the game is facing these issues...then why not be honest and open. Being delayed would suck...but at least we would know and knowing would calm people down.

Communication is not a bad thing, and it would lead to a happier community.

  • I don't mind a delay. I mind them not telling us about it and expecting its all perfectly okay.

  • Well they said the episode was done, but like you said... done doesn't mean optimised. Done just means the content is there.

  • I'm not angry that Telltale hasn't released TWDG S3 yet. I'm angry that Telltale's communication with TWDG fans has been non existent for the last month or so.

  • It's 19 November. Past middle of the month. Hard to believe not saying news for over half a month = no delay...
I'm not saying that there is certainly a delay but after over half a month with no news it does feel like a delay.

  • When Telltale has never confirmed or denied anything but we blame them for not doing what we want them to do

  • All we're asking is for more communication...

I'm not blaming Telltale for anything (Not intentionally, at least). I just wish they wouldn't leave us in the dark for such extended periods of time.

  • Were you around during Tales from the Borderlands, Wolf Among Us, and Game of Thrones where the game was live and episode waits ranged from 3 - 6 months with no info? Be happy that you aren't getting any communication now, rather than getting the first episode and then waiting a long time to continue the story just to be left in the dark.

  • Even tho I DONT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN, I have an inkling that we're going to be waiting till next year for the 1st episode. Why would Game Stop, Gaming Generations, and another source I have all say the release date for TWD Season 3 episode 1 has been pushed back to Feb. 2017. I mean just how credible is that date? So far with TWD Season 2 episodes, and TWD Michonne episodes, the game stores I previously listed have been right thus far with the release dates. Ok, now it's time for me to shut my mouth, and just stop cuz I'm psyching myself out now. I'm draining away the little smiggen of hope I had left for the game to come out this month. keeping my fingers crossed

  • I'm pretty sure It was the same with both TWD seasons. We had to wait 3+- months.

    Dec 17 - March 4 - May 13th - July 22 - Aug 26th

Each wait was only a little longer than a month, back when that was Telltale's standard, the only "long" wait was ep 1- 2. Unlike Wolf with Oct - Feb and Borderlands with Nov - March and March - June and GoT going July - Nov.

  • We are officially the Mushroom People today. :'(

  • I'm not mad at Telltale for not communicating about the delay. I'm mad for not communicating at all. They said November, its already past mid of November and not even a little glimpse of its existence.

  • Whew.......I feel much better now, but still disappointed we haven't heard not one little thing!
