  • I guess I don't even know what I'm writing anymore at this point and I get mixed feelings about everything... So I'll make it clear.
My problem right now with telltale is that they have no slight communication with us on the month of what is supposed to be the release of the game.

  • Disappointed is an understatement lol

Whew.......I feel much better now, but still disappointed we haven't heard not one little thing!

A part of me wonders if that Twitter discussion was a mistake and or communication error on Job's part. Maybe he hoped/thought to take the Twitch weekly spot next week for Thanksgiving but didn't know Twitch would be taking a break at the time? That was the first I heard of it, can't imagine anything else.

I guess for now, hold out for next week and hope for a trailer whenever?

Tell that to Telltale; I'm not defending it and I agree episodes should be longer, but I am just explaining their thought process. I have followed Telltale for several years, as far back as 2008-2010. I have seen their trajectory prior to Walking Dead, and even with their earlier titles like Jurassic Park and Back to the Future, they were experimenting with shorter episodes/less gameplay to make episodes feel more cinematic.

People think it is some new trend that started with Wolf/Season 2 that was the result of Telltale working on multiple games at once, but that is incorrect. The longer waits were from Telltale making live revisions to incorporate fan feedback on a larger scale after they saw how it worked out for Season 1. They tried to amplify it to a larger scale, even, but that led to 3-4 month waiting periods, so they have recently started going back to monthly episodes. It doesn't mean that they have less time to work on an episode, it just means that they are working on more of the episode in advance.

walking dead team issue then telltale at large as game of thrones another popular property was 2 hours as well.

Walking Dead Season 2 and Wolf Episodes averaged at 90 minutes; the same teams went on to work on Tales/Thrones, and those episodes averaged at 1 hour 45 min. I don't know what causes episode lengths to vary in duration after that, but it does not correlate with monthly episodes versus longer waits. People had to wait four months for Episode 2 of Wolf, and it was only 90 minutes. Batman Episode 3 was a monthly episode, but was the same duration as the average episode of Tales/Thrones (1 hour 45 minutes).

Older Telltale episodes were longer and still monthly, on top of having more gameplay in the form of puzzles/hubs/interactive bits, but Telltale moved away from that type of game design because in their eyes, the success of Walking Dead Season 1 validated their belief that people want interactive cinematic games instead of games with puzzles, hubs, etc. People liked it because it was a role playing experience, but Telltale saw its success as it being an interactive TV show/movie.

Friday and Today: Thursday is past, Always Nothing.

    Communication problems ? :(

    it's friday

  • i know older telltale games were longer due to puzzles and such. i played them i enjoy them [ back to the future is my favorite of the older telltale games] and even then they all clock in about 3 hours.

the thing telltale is also really inconsistent. season 2 is their weakest game of the new era as it cut alot of the fat that made season 1 work. then borderlands happens and all it is back. i remember one section which had you able to talk to your crew in episode 3. and this is coming form someone who was very worried about tales as i thought it would be 90 minutes and rhys and fiona would not be able to devlop that much.

but i was wrong and tale became everyones favorite games. have not played game of thrones so can't comment on it.

i hope they learned their lessons from season 2. we don't need puzzles as i feel they get in the way in their current style. i just want developed characters that i can get attached to and enjoy the story. as even back in the day telltale was about great writing and characters.

I think a mod should just take the "hints of 8 minutes of footage" out of the title until Job or someone at Telltale confirms it. I guess this is a lesson for me, and others to not look for details in replies unless Job or Telltale mention it in his own tweet or whatever.

Oh yeah. This is the Walking Dead section. The one with the largest Telltale fanbase devoted to their highly praised hit. Other series would typically have less, based on preference of Telltale series. Makes sense.
