What have you liked about S3 so far?

Personally, I really liked the way Clem was characterised. I was a bit worried initially about what they would do to her, but I feel like they did her justice. Even though we have such little control over her, it's interesting to see her from an outsider's perspective.

  • Javier is great and I kind of like the semi new direction the series is going in.

  • All of it. Hyped for episode 3.

    • Technically and artistically, it's been great.

    • Clementine has been portrayed very well.

    • Javier is a fun protagonist.

    • The choices have been difficult - and greatly improved from Season 2's.

    • There's lots of hub areas.

  • Lone wolf Clem and the cub.

  • I love the feel of it. I have my problems with the season 2 fates but overall I love the new direction of the series. Javi has got this perfect Rick Grimes aura about him and I could see him growing a lot as a character. I'm hoping the group function will continue to grow and I love Clementine's role. I know she's only playable in flashback for the time being but I think it's just right. I've even gotten some season one vibes off of this season. I'm pumped for the rest despite a few flaws.

  • can you acaully talk to people in the hubs like season 1? or is it like season 2 where they have like one line and are pointless?

  • It's usually one line. But there's definitely more hubs than in season 2.

  • Javis character is quite amusing but can be also very serious like the way hes written
Clems character is Ok they are all a bit similar based on the endings just a few different moments
    Comic characters
    and some other stuff

  • The pretty Asian doctor. ;p

  • Shame she acts the same whatever choice you make in season 2

  • Everything

Just kidding I do have several gripes against the game but they are doing a lot of good. The whole beginning section in my opinion was great. I really liked how they interchanged the opening credits with what was happening. Was really cool to watch and added to the tension. A lot of stuff inbetween was really something to rave about and even some stuff I can be negative upon concerning how they choose to advance the story(Javi dropping the fucking gun). Some events seem like they happen just so they can have something else happen. Which is obvious but you don't want it to be obvious that is what they are doing.

Then you have the meeting with Clem which I think was really awesome. Yet, I would have loved that you had some kind of dialague option that has he explain just how in the hell she did what she did to stop the truck. Just seems kinda crazy and to not have it explained away seems pretty lazy. Besides that I expected it to transition to Clem but it didn't and we actually got a really great back and forth with Javi/Clem.

One of the flashbacks(alone) is probably the best thing in the episode. The voice acting is just tremendous in that one scene. Showcased how desperate Clem was in terms of being hungry and with protecting AJ. Actually seemed to flow a lot better than the other two and didn't feel cheap. Which made it obvious to me that being alone was the only real route and the other two were just there.

The illusion of choice was actually really good and I mean TWD S1 good in terms of you thinking that you can change what happens. They actually throw in several choices that seem really significant but really changes nothing overall. Which I hate but at the same time appreciate if a choice based game is able to make me think a decision is actually really significant and it isn't. Though, I think they over did it and would have liked if they made one of the characters determinant in that you can save them. Not that they just end up dead irregardless of what choice you go with in the same episode. In that regard I think that they did it better in S2 with thinking you can actually save people at least for the time being.

With that being said...if you didn't like S2 then you may actually like S3 so far. Just after playing GoT, Batman, and Tales. You'd think they would actually be heavy with the alternative scenes for their big home hitter.

  • The fact it has began.....and now the wait.

  • Everything except the first flashback.

Javi's great, and I'm super glad he's the main character

  • I think I agree with you completely. I wish the episodes were longer but what you said hit the nail on the head.

  • I like the cliffhanger/plot twist of episode 2
i like the idea of the flashbacks giving small pieces of backstory to all the characters, and how your decisions in those backstories seem like they will affect relationships later down the road.
i like that the story has clear directions/goals.

to be honest, when i stopped comparing it to Season 1, and thought of Season 3 as its own game i like pretty much everything except for the Jane flashback, just because i still feel like Jane acted a little out of character in it.

I was really hoping they'd somehow fix S2 retroactively with the flashbacks, but unfortunately that's not the case. It's almost as if the people writing them were the exact same people that wrote season 2 and wrote it immediately after it with all the skill they had on them at the time.

I guess it was a good way to cut ties with S2 as quickly as possible in order to have the new thing be as new as possible without any sequal baggage. Honestly, not really complaining about that. Makes Javi all more fresher.

    • I really like the dynamic between Javi and Clem
  • that is the thing that bothers me. people complain that telltale don't let our choices matter. yet they do in other series not called the walking dead.

Liked: Javi, Kate. the new button call outs,

  • The only thing I loved about the game was Clementine. She was beautiful and badass. That Gabriel boy better stay away from my daughter.

  • Graphics are nice.... I guess...

  • The plot twist at end of ep 2 was very good ( Was kinda hoping it would be lilly :p ) Interested to see how David reacts to his people killing his daughter

  • I know i'm in the minority, but i like the Clementine/Gabriel thing going on.

  • A lot.

    • I REALLY like Javi. It would've been really simple to make a throwaway protagonist and make Clementine still the primary star. I'll admit, I was a tinsy bit annoyed at first that Javi was the main player character over her at the start, but now I'm not annoyed at all because I really enjoyed playing as him, he's really likable and I really like his arc with trying to protect his sister-in-law, his niece and nephew.

    • Clementine is just full-on badass now. I'll admit I didn't expect her to be THIS badass now but I'm glad for it, she doesn't take shit from anyone now and seeing this new Clem in an outsider's perspective works really well surprisingly, I do wish her playable sequences were a tad bit longer though, I don't mind playing as Javi most of the game though.

    • Jesus was just done brilliantly, I hope he can stick around longer.

    • I'm liking the direction of this story especially after episode two's ending. That reveal at the end is gonna lead to some great family tension, especially since I snogged Kate.

    • Telltale have really amped up their production values and it shows. This game looks great and they have really given their game engine a significant upgrade with this entry.

I have a few gripes, I do wish Clem did have a BIT more player character time (especially since she's far more badass now than ever before) but other than that these two episodes were extremely solid and I'm really looking forward to seeing where the story goes this season.

I'm so damn excited to learn about Clementine, her past and what she's done but at the same time I'm afraid to learn about it.

    I love this feeling.

I enjoyed these two episodes of this season so far and yes I have my problems with the season 2 character flashbacks but overall I am enjoying it and I look forward to the new episodes! these are some things I enjoyed about the first two episodes!
I like the way they are portraying clementine in this season
I like Javier character a lot. I like how he has become a leader in a way
I like the others characters we have along such as Kate and Gabe
    The updated graphics look good

  • Mariana...but Telltale sucked the life out of that one.

  • I feel like they gave her shitcard after another with every flashback.

    Absolutely nothing.

  • I like pretty much everything so far, although in a better world episodes 1 and 2 would actually just be one single episode. Javier is a pleasure to play as and I love his impressions, hilarious.

The only thing I actually dislike (or more like find to be extremely funny) is the fact that Jane looks like a drunkard with that bloated face, and the hair, Jesus Christ that goddamn hair.

Well after I watched an lp of this, I went to bed and let my thoughts on this marinate... so I am a little less angry. I like Clems character a lot more than I did in the second season. I also like her design. I think she is more confident in herself and what she wants and that makes me more confident in her...if that makes sense. I like that Javier is the lead, because that means that other characters wont depend on clem, a child, to do everything for them.

I love everything besides Kenny and Jane's models, and what they did overall with Kenny and Jane.

However, Javier is amazing, Clementine is unique, the hubs are an improvement, the characters are likable, and the choices are harder IMO.
