When Lee tries to revive Larry
Larry's mouth can be seen moving before he's crushed by a salt lick. Do you think Lee actually successfully revived him, or do you think he was just about to turn into a walker?
In my opinion, I think he was about to turn into a walker.

I think he was actually making progress when Kenny crushed that thought along with Larry's skull.
Most likely was coming back but honestly how long would Larry have lasted in his condition.
Realistically, I believe at that point a person would be too far gone for CPR to really accomplish anything. For the sake of drama/writing? He was probably going to be fine, but it was left ambiguous. There are two things I really find hilarious about that scene:
If you choose to do nothing, Kenny pushes you over and goes to work on Larry's face. For the rest of the chapter, Kenny and Lilly both treat you as if you had tried to save Kenny (Kenny's an asshole to you, Lilly saves you from Andy, etc.). Starting in episode 3, however, the game changes its mind, and decides you actually tried to help Kenny (the cinematic even shows Lee pulling Lilly away). Kenny becomes your best friend (and saves you from under the shelf), Lilly hates your guts, etc.
If you mash hard enough, you can keep doing chest compressions. "One...Two...Three...FoSMASHur...Five..."
I read it somewhere that it takes 5 minutes for the body to shut down after what happened to Larry, and I also think its mentioned in the show that a person begans the transformation only when their body is completely dead.
Idk, I still chose to help revive him
He was probably re-animating. Statistically, the odds that he would actually be revived are extremely low.
Well, when I play the game, I like to try to revive him, but in real life I wouldn't because my mom (Who's a nurse) pointed out to me that CPR by itself wouldn't be enough to save him after suffering a massive heart attack like that. That said, he probably wasn't reanimating yet, I think he was just in the process of dying.
It was intended to be ambiguous. He could have been starting to get revived or he could have been starting to turn to bite someone.
It depends on how 'excited' the person was at moment of death, probably something to do with the adrenaline speeding up the reanimation process. Like how (Early show/Comic spoilers) Shane zombified almost instantly after dying because of the whole showdown with Rick, whereas Amy took a whole night because she was bitten and died suddenly.
I never understood why people would want to revive him anyway.
Do you mean speed up the reanimation process once he's completely dead? Or speed up the shut down for the reanimation process.
I'm also curious, what would actually help revive Larry from the heart attack? I just saw in the thread that CPR wouldn't save someone from that, but I'm curious what it would take.
I still thought that Kenny could've stood near behind Larry with the salt lick ready to kill him if he turned suddenly instead of trying to do it immediately.
CPR is unlikely...very unlikely...usually you need the use of a defibrillator to start the heart on it's own. Now that is not to say CPR alone never works...but it is the way to bet. More likely any movement seen was a gasp, which is a sign the CPR is doing it's job which is to keep blood and oxygen flowing to the brain.
In this case the CPR was for Lilly's peace of mind, doing all she can do for her Father. Eventually Larry would need to get his skull crushed...but Kenny should have waited.
Just because he(and Kenny) is an asshole doesn't mean everyone has to be.
I didn't notice that actually. I may have to watch that part again,
I suppose we'll never really know, but I would have loved it if Larry turned into a walker
(just to hear a "I told you so" lecture from Kenny :P)
Are people forgetting some things about Larry ?
At the end of episode 1, Larry Punches Lee, knocking him down. Lee is disoriented as Larry is a alpha male and Lee is nearly bitten. Kenny saves Lee.
Larry hates Lee due to a news clipping about a teacher killing a man. Larry is too stupid to realize that it could have been self defense or a in the moment killing as he was a teacher so obviously he was relatively normal. He doesn't want to get to know Lee or give him a chance.
Larry should like Lee as if he's a killer, albeit not a serial killer, then why would you not want him around in a zombie apocalypse ?
It seems to me that Larry is racist, sorry but everything that I've seen from him points to it.
To answer your question, killing him was the logical choice. You are enclosed in a small area with no weapons. You have a kid with you. Larry was dead weight and he was out of medicine anyway. He was nearly 7 feet tall so that would have been a mean walker. Lily is probably holding onto false hope with her dad recovering from a heart attack.
*Drops mic.
This. He's a person, I tried to save him.
I don't see how anyone could realistically like someone because they're a killer.
In a zombie apocalypse ? That's a strong trait. Also Larry didn't look into facts at all and he was just a fool all around. He overreacted constantly.
In a bad situation you want to be surrounded by good people who help each other not a known murderer. No one is realistically going to say "You're a killer? Welcome aboard!"
Brain damage starts at 3 and irreparable brain damage occurs at 7.
He can't have been turning into a walker, as he only moves like that if you press on his chest enough, but the same length of time transpires. Pressing on someone's chest doesn't speed up reanimation.
He wasn't reanimating as he only moves his mouth if you press on him enough times, which doesn't speed up reanimation. There are low odds but here it happened.
Of course he wouldn't have been able to survive after reviving without medication, but he may have been able to say goodbye to his daughter
EDIT: Double post.
For what it's worth, this is the annotation for the sound file.
351) LARRY
[pickup2][quiet quick inhale on impact as Lee gives CPR. Is the CPR helping or is Larry becoming a zombie?]
I don't think he is racist, because if he was then he would hate Clementine since she is black too.
Or maybe he makes exemptions for children
No, a racist person hates that race regardless of age.
Yeah, I don't he's racist at all. He's just a confrontational asshole who doesn't really care if Lee thinks he is or not.
To be fair, everyone(besides Katjaa and Ben) is initially suspicious/distrustful/angry of Lee when they learn about it either from him or especially from Lilly. Yes, being willing to kill is a useful skill in an apocalyptic environment, but it's also one that makes you a potential threat. The reality of the situation is that being a murderer will unnerve people due to the concerns about the safety of the group(particularly the children) with him around and the only reason no one else holds it against him for very long when they learn is because they had the chance to get to know Lee beforehand, whereas Larry(a military veteran) calling him by his full name implies that he saw/heard the news report and recognized him as being dangerous.
In my playthrough, Kenny didn't care much. "Sooo...? Is Duck safe around you?" "Yes." "Then shut up. " He wasn't phased at all. Which is good considering my Lee has always been honest with him and vice versa.
Sheesh.
I know this new season is pretty bad, but I didn't think that it was bad enough to warrant people going back to discuss far superior titles in the franchise.
Oh, and Kenny was a violent selfish asshole who not only murdered a woman's father in one of the most gruesome ways imaginable (I mean, she had her father's brain matter in her mouth). But proceeded to treat her like everything she felt was her fault and continued being an unkind nasty fuck to her at every turn.
Hence why I included Lilly in that comment. Plus, Kenny just killed Larry a few weeks/months ago because his main concern is Duck and Katjaa's safety. He'd be pretty hypocritical to hold it against you if you're on good terms with him.
hum... can i argue the fact that the only time Kenny speaks to Lily after the incident on episode 2 is when they argue about leaving or stayng in the motor inn and the only time after that event where he s violent towards her is when She murdered Carley in a way that was even more cold blooded than Kenny murdering Larry? Because Larry could have indeed turned in that scene it was not 100% certain that he would turn but atleast there s a reason as to why Kenny killed Larry while Lily kills Carley because she insulted her and she also tries to kill Ben if Doug s alive because she thought he was the traitor who gave the supplies to the bandits ((Even thought he ended up being the traitor doesnt mean she would have known for certain))
He definitely WAS NOT turning! You don't instantly die from a heart attack, mate; that's not how they work. Hell, someone could be wide awake when having a heart attack! Also, reanimation times vary to a large extent, but if Larry DID die from his heart attack (which I doubt he did cuz that would've been an instant death and that's next to impossible when you have a heart attack) he wouldn't have turned so bloody quick! It's a possibility, but how often do you see someone turn as soon as they're dead? The virus has to take some time to activate, it's not an immediate thing.
Also, if Larry were turning or has turned, you'd have heard some sort of moan, groan, growl or snarl out of him before attacking. His skin would've been AT LEAST pale and his teeth would've been a bit rotted. He also would've smelled like death.
Actually its shown in the Show of the walking dead that the time varies on when a person does end up turning .
Dude, I LITERALLY said that reanimation times vary to a large extent. =_=
Oh woops sorry lol.
You mean episode 3, the same episode that took place some time after the events of episode 2. And it is said through dialogue that Kenny and Lilly have been "budding heads" since.
That would lead me to believe, along with Lilly's lines of not having anyone to trust that Kenny was severely cruel toward her plight and knowing him through 2 seasons, is it really all that likely he would ever apologize for doing something excessively stupid and mean?
I mean, it's not as if he ever apologized after the initial "oh shit I did a bad thing" reactionary half-assed apology he gave himself directly after killing Larry in the first place. And as well, him trying to abandon Lilly immediately after the attack would lead to great speculation he really never gave a rat's ass in the first place.
Well, Kenny apologized in Season 1 Episode 5, when they were discussing what to do with Lee in case he turns. Kenny threw that statue head against the wall, and when everything calmed down, I apologized, and so did he. And not half-assed in any way.
But then again I guess it depends on how you build your relationship with Kenny.
An apology for turning against Lee almost entirely unprovoked and with little reasoning other then "Kenny smash."
And is an apology toward Lee after Lee initiated the extended olive branch really justification for him to act like a cruel child toward Lilly without so much as any affectionate reconciliation for her loss at his hands?
I guess by that logic, had Lilly apologized to Kenny first after her fathers' brains were painted on her face, Kenny would've been the saint for accepting it and allowing her to rim his butthole.
