imagine what happened to ANF happened to The Last of Us, how would you react?

I've noticed some people who are against all the criticism is happening here , and they think that what TT did is ok and it's ok to push (the heart and core of this series) to the backlines , i think it's clearly i'm talking about Clem here.

let's take The Last of Us as an example cuz i think there is a lot of similar things in terms of characters.

in the first game an apocalypse happened and Joel was the protagonist and he was taking care of Ellie , game was absolutely fantastic we can't argue on that, and players feel so much related to both of the characters , and if you look closely the story was all about Ellie from the first place (just like TWDG season 1)

in the upcoming game TLOU Part 2, it's Ellie now (TWDG season 2) and it's all a one story from the beginning, that's why they call it a "series"

now imagine if there is TLOU 3 , and this time Naughty Dog decided to try and attract newcomers to the series so they throw everything related to the previous games from the window , and they give you a new protagonist that you don't have any attachment with, and the girl you really care about from the first place (Ellie) is now a second protagonist , or a side character , and they make you feel like that Ellie don't have that importance in the story, not like she was before.
and then Naughty Dog says that this time it's ok for new players to start from here , they will look like they just want to appeal newcomers into the game that's all.

how would fans react in your opinion? of course they will be pissed and they want their beloved character Ellie back to the front lines just like where she was in part 2 of the game.

in our case it's a very similar thing, Ellie is Clem , Joel is Lee, and the new character is Javi.

TellTale made a fault yes , and from now on they better fix it , and hopefully that starts from Episode 3.

  • Naughty Dog never made a game for the newcomers in their franchises. They always continued Uncharted, Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter with the same characters. They still do that with The Last of Us.

  • Two different games...people complained about playing as Clem in season two...so TellTale instead of doing the thing everyone wanted them and expected them to do which was have a 50/50 split...they went with 98/2.

I think it'd be a bit of a mixed bag, actually. There were a lot of people who were satisfied with how the first one ended, and were kind of worried that if they tried to do a sequel, it might somehow taint the first game, even if Ellie and Joel were both going to be in it. So if they were going to do a new game with new characters, I'm sure some people would be more into it.

Then there's the other camp, who wanted to see where Naughty Dog would take the story after Joel's lie and they came back to Tommy's settlement. I'd imagine that those people would be pretty peeved if they were to suddenly turn around and introduce new characters while neglecting the two from the original one.

I think one of the problems with doing it for this season of TWD is that we've already had two whole seasons with Clem, one of which happened to be us actually controlling her and shaping the kid into the person we want her to become. We got invested in her character, and with the way that both of those seasons ended, you could tell that Telltale would be making another one. With Ellie and Joel, you could kind of argue both ways as to whether they should've continued or not. It was kind of ambiguous.

With the recent reveal of the second Last of Us game, though, then I'd agree - throwing Ellie and Joel under the bus if they were to do a third game wouldn't go over well. It all depends on what they do in part 2 though, because from what I could tell from the trailer, things might not be looking so good for the two of them. Maybe Ellie will have to pick up the torch and start looking after a new character herself, so who knows?

  • Yeah i know, i said "imagine" to just make an example for some people.

I know Naughty Dog would never do such a thing, and ruin one of their franchises like that.

  • Well if that's the case, I'm from the second camp who wanted a sequel, i mean there is no way that was the ending and that's it.

the game was so successful and people like me wanted to go more deep, like what will happen to them?
Why and how is Ellie immune from getting infected and what are they gonna do with this? I think This alone can be enugh reason to make them continue the game.

Yeah that's kinda the problem, TT spent so much time shaping a relationship between us and Clem and they did it im not gonna lie cuz Clem is my favorite character of all time.

But suddenly they decided to change all of this and they expected fans to understand it, if you wanted to change the story like this then why u spent all that time building this huge attachment between players and Clem in the first place? Don't make people love someone and then take him from them and try to replace his position by someone else.

I still think Javi is a good character, but not on the expense of taking the spotlights from Clem in this series.

  • Well i didn't complain i actually liked it, it gave me a unique and different experience that i didn't find in other zombie or apocalypse games.

but i do understand those opinions, and like u said 50/50 would be good, or giving the majority to Clem and the rest 30 or 40% for the other character.

It's funny how TT say it's Javi's story, but whenever they tweet about the game on twitter they always put Clem's picture, it's like they don't know who's story is this lol.

  • Two episodes are out, just wait.

Clementine plays an grown up version of her Season 1 role. She's the majn character in the game next to Javier. No one complained in Season 1, but people complain in Season 3 now.

Every choice (Mainly) is tailored around Clementine. Telltale is giving us these options and back story to help everyone that loves Clementine.

Season 2 would have ended up the exact same way as Season 3, the only character that connected each season was Clementine, until Kenny finally showed up. In a way, each season pushes out anything from the past from the game to an extent. Season 3 is a new story indeed, but who is the other protaganist? Clementine.

She's not a supporting character, she gets more play time than any other character (besides Javier) and she is practically the face of Season 3. (The cover art featured 4 characters, but Clementine and Javier got the biggest spots).

Overall, don't judge this game too early. They want Clementine to be built up again and want us to watch her change and grow up instead of be the one we saw as our daughter.

Overall I am very pleased with this season, and so are many others, it's just this community that blows everything WAY out of proportion. Clementine is still there, Clementine is still the main focus (Next to Javier), Clementine will continue to be the face of TWD just like Rick is to the show.

  • She's not a supporting character, she gets more play time than any other character (besides Javier) and she is practically the face of Season 3. (The cover art featured 4 characters, but Clementine and Javier got the biggest spots).

so joker from the mass effect is the second prataganist of the mass effect 2? we played as him for like 10 minutes. he gets more play time than any other character( besides shepard ).
i think second protaganist sould have at least 30% of the playtime in game.

  • I do a little, episodes aren't short, but they are shorter than usual. However this could all be fixed with simply adding more down time and dialogue options to further flesh out each character.

Season 3 gets right down to the action which is good and bad. I want to see more instances where we can walk around and just talk to people, maybe introduce more puzzles as well.

That will fix your two complaints.

As far as Clementine, I love her more than ever this season.

We don't know what is coming, and we don't know exaclty how long it'll be until we get the next episode. Frankly, I'd rather them take three months because then we could get more put into the episode.

There is so much difference between season 1 &3.
No one complained in season 1 because it was the first game, it was the first time we got introduced to the story.
Besides, Clem was too young to be a protagonist back at the day, you can't just make a 8 years old innocent child be the protagonist of the first season of the game, so they decided to make the story about Lee and how he will survive with his group, and most importantly how he will take care of this little child, and this is how TT shaped the relationship between fans and Clem, And they did it right.

In season 2 she grown-up and i think she was at a good age to make her the protagonist this time. especially after all the shaping was happening in season 1.

AND NOW she is more grown then she ever was and players are already attached to her due to everything they experienced in the past season.
so why giving back her season 1 role? Why don't you just continue the story because she is a lot different than the girl she was at season 1.

let's just leave that in the side for a little bit and talk about other things.

Are you pleased with the episodes length? Or how this Season deals with the characters? Or how the flashbacks are too short?

CLEMENTINE IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM HERE, but it's the most important problem from all the problems in this season.

Two episodes are out, just wait.

I'm always trying to be optimistic about this season im trying to not judge it fast, i just hope they listen and start making things better in episode 3

Two episodes are out, just wait. Clementine plays an grown up version of her Season 1 role. She's the majn character in the game next to

  • As explained, yes people already feel attached with her, but that isn't changing because we can't play as her. In a way, it's a good thing, Season 3 can flesh her out a lot more now, while Season 2 was focused more on building.

However, this could be looked at as both bad and good, some will want Clementine to be built around their choices while others want to watch her grow through another perspective, there is no easy fix to that, so it's more an in between now.

However, I'm not going to suck Telltale's dick completely.

The flashbacks need to be longer!

The episodes need to be longer! They need to have more down times where we can talk and relate with other characters!

If they do this, then I can see this Season turning out great!

  • Actually, depending on your choices with javier, she is still really sweet like in Season 1.

She is practically the mix of mean Clem from Season 2 and nice Clem from Season 2.

Do you play this game yourself or do you watch it?

I'd highly recommend running through the story again, but only picking the nicest things possible and also slow down and look for her moments of being nice and caring.

It's easy to miss some of her moments that she shows passion.

Yeah people seem to have different opinions about this, then at least they make it 50/50 or 60Clem/40Javi or at least a number near that.

Glad you are agreeing on the other points though. : )
they really need to give Clem much more importance and playtime, and they need to make the episodes much more longer.

As explained, yes people already feel attached with her, but that isn't changing because we can't play as her. In a way, it's a good thing,

  • Yes!

I actually do think Clementine has gotten the most screen time next to Javier, but I want and need more.

Also, it would be good to have at least 30% Clem and 70% Javier, or 40% Clem and 60% Javier. I don't want them to shift the entire game to Clementine, as bad as it sounds haha, but I do want more for her flashbacks!

Also, maybe even give us an episode dedicated to controlling Clementine maybe?

Overall, flashbacks need to be longer! If they had 1HR 30MIN episodes with at least 30-40 minutes of Clementine and 50-60 minutes as Javier, that'd be great.

However, there will be a problem. If we shift way to much time on flashbacks, then the game won't focus much on the now, and the growing relationships happening now. If they truly do not want to extend the flashbacks there is only one fix...

PUT CLEMENTINE IN EVERY DAMN FRAME!

In all seriousness, if they don't increase the flashback time, or if they only give us 10-20 minutes, they need to increase the amount of time Clementine is front and center. She's for sure the center of attention, but she would need even more!

All in all, I love Clementine this season, and man can I not wait to see more of her. If she dies, this will be the final season of the TWD game in my book, haha.

  • I wanted Clem as an NPC a year ago and I want Clem as an NPC now. My only wish is that they had found a way to build a personality for her that was based on choices made in previous seasons. She's just more of an interesting character if i'm not controlling her directly.

It always felt weird to me, I saw Clementine as my game daughter in Season 1, so it was weird controlling her in Season 2.

I gotta admit that if Telltale did anything good this season, it will be how they made Clem so perfect after she grew، TT didn't let me down in this.

  • Her character is perfect in this Season, because of the updated graphics she also looks really pretty and even more adorable to me, her eyes are perfect as well.

Also, we know one thing, they focused most of their time on Clementine's model(s) over all other characters.

It's not as a matter of "if" they kill Clementine, it's a matter of "how" they could/would.

The only way I could see them killing off Clementine would be at the end of the entire series. Also, instead of having a choice be promarily focused on creating her death the most realistic and heart wrenching death that I would cry for weeks to come. Lee's death was horrifically sad along with Kenny (if you shot him). Imagine them doing that, but even better, and I may just forgive them for killing off my "Virtual Daughter" haha

Overall, I'd still be in tears all day haha.
